President Buhari is suffering from anaemia - Prof. Femi Williams

London-certified doctor, Professor Femi Williams, has revealed that President Muhammadu Buhari is suffering from anaemia.

The president returned to the country on Friday, March 10 after an extended medical vacation in London and Professor Williams, in an interview with The Nation, said the president’s blood transfusion was an indication that he was anaemic.

He said: “We now have a pretty good idea of diagnosis, which is now comprehensive or good enough to say that the diagnosis of President Buhari’s illness is anaemia.

“You cannot be transfused if you don’t have anaemia.”

“The negative clinical findings on the president that was published in The Nation on Feb 26, 2017 has been confirmed by the disclosure that the President was transfused with whole blood.

“In a previous photo of his hands prior to transfusion his nail beds were very pale indicative of clinical anaemia. The subsequent photograph of his hands that was analyzed showed that he was no longer clinically anaemic.

“The clinical history given by Mr. President that for the past 18 months he had been lethargic and feeling tired prior to his vacation is consistent with tiredness due to anaemia.

“Regaining his strength after transfusions that facilitated his return home suggests that the anaemia had been corrected successfully.

“There is therefore a preliminary diagnosis of anaemia meaning insufficient blood in the circulation.

“When this happens many organs including the brain, heart, liver, kidneys and lungs are starved of oxygen that is carried by blood to all parts of the body for efficient functioning of the person. “Sudden loss of blood as in road traffic accidents could be fatal. In this case the anaemia has been insidious and gradual over time.”

Continuing, Prof Williams said: “The question that arises in the absence of information, which is understandable, is the cause of the anaemia.

“The only information that can be gleaned from the Presidents history on arrival is his admonition against self medication. By so doing is he giving us some more relevant information that he had been told in London?

“This is the first time that a President advises that all citizens should trust their doctors and refrain from self medication. Is it possible that his anaemia is drug induced or drug related and that investigations in London revealed this? We do not know. If this is true common pain relieving drugs like Panadol may cause kidney damage and give rise to anaemia for which he received transfusions.

“Alternatively certain drugs also cause liver damage and anaemia but this is unlikely in his case since he was not jaundiced.”

“There are so many other causes of anaemia that cannot be dealt with here.”

“Of relevance to our last observation is the possibility that this may be anaemia related to some type of cancer that must be ruled out. Looking at the photos on arrival there is one suspicious positive finding and that his loss of muscle mass on the face in the area of the zygomatic arch below the ears.

“This is either due to some cancer somewhere or due to aging.”

The professor noted that the president’s disclosure might be a wake-up call to Nigerians to avoid over the counter medication.

“Protection of privacy is an extremely important feature in a democracy,” he said, adding: “however we, the people, have elected the President and are paying his salary and upkeep.

“We are therefore entitled to be concerned and to know that he has a sound mind in a sound body to govern us appropriately and effectively.

“There is really no need for secrecy because we are all mortals destined for the departure lounge en route to the other side called Heaven.

“The unfortunate aspect of the Nigerian life and society is that any health challenge can be exploited for political reasons, and may be used and abused by aspirants to high office. This is an unhealthy trend that must be discouraged in our national polity.”

One of such issues, our correspondent learnt, is the posting of the nation’s career ambassadors-designate. Read in full

Reports published by BBC reveals that the world is facing its largest humanitarian crisis since 1945, the United Nations says, issuing a plea for help to avoid "a catastrophe".

UN humanitarian chief Stephen O'Brien said that more than 20 million people faced the threat of starvation and famine in Yemen, Somalia, South Sudan and Nigeria.

Unicef has already warned 1.4m children could starve to death this year.

Mr O'Brien said $4.4bn (£3.6bn) was needed by July to avert disaster.

"We stand at a critical point in history," Mr O'Brien told the Security Council on Friday. "Already at the beginning of the year we are facing the largest humanitarian crisis since the creation of the United Nations."

"Now, more than 20 million people across four countries face starvation and famine. Without collective and coordinated global efforts, people will simply starve to death. Many more will suffer and die from disease.

Memorise: Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. - Mathew 11:28

Read: Luke 13:10-17 (KJV)

10 And he was teaching in one of the synagogues on the sabbath.

11 And, behold, there was a woman which had a spirit of infirmity eighteen years, and was bowed together, and could in no wise lift up herself.

12 And when Jesus saw her, he called her to him, and said unto her, Woman, thou art loosed from thine infirmity.

13 And he laid his hands on her: and immediately she was made straight, and glorified God.

14 And the ruler of the synagogue answered with indignation, because that Jesus had healed on the sabbath day, and said unto the people, There are six days in which men ought to work: in them therefore come and be healed, and not on the sabbath day.

15 The Lord then answered him, and said, Thou hypocrite, doth not each one of you on the sabbath loose his ox or his ass from the stall, and lead him away to watering?

16 And ought not this woman, being a daughter of Abraham, whom Satan hath bound, lo, these eighteen years, be loosed from this bond on the sabbath day?

17 And when he had said these things, all his adversaries were ashamed: and all the people rejoiced for all the glorious things that were done by him.

Bible in One Year: Genesis 48-50 and Isaiah 58:1-12

Burdens are loads imposed on a person by the wicked forces of this world or by circumstances of life. They come under certain categories, one of these being physical burdens. Physical burdens are exemplified by the case of Naaman who had an incurable disease (2 Kings 5:1). Also, the woman with a spirit of infirmity, who could not straighten herself for years, is another case in point (Luke 13:11). No matter how much she tried, everywhere she went, she remained bent. Similarly, the man who had been at the pool of Bethesda for 38 years had a physical burden (John 5:2-9). Do you have a physical burden? Are you physically handicapped? Jesus Christ will lift your physical burdens today! You shall experience a turn around in Jesus' Name!

Burdens could also be material in nature. The widow of Zarephath was carrying a material burden (1 Kings 17:8-16). Things used to be good for her, but her situation deteriorated to the point where she had only one meal to her credit. In addition, the heavily indebted widow of 2 kings 4:1-7 was plagued by debts left by her late husband. The creditors came calling and threatened to enslave her sons. Thank God she knew the right place to run to. She cried to the prophet, who was connected to the Burden Bearer, and the tide turned for her and her children. What about the wedding feast in John 2:1-11? They thought they had everything in place, but midway through the celebration, they ran out of wine. They called on the Burden Bearer and He supplied what was lacking.

A very wealthy man with a fleet of 14 cars once picked a quarrel with his wife, and she threatens that by the time she was done with him, he would be trekking about the street of Lagos, Nigeria. The man laughed it off, not knowing the kind of woman he had as wife. Not long after, his business began to nosedive, and things became so bad that at a point, he had only one car left with 50 kobo in his pocket. Then he reasoned with himself, "if I buy petrol with this money I will starve, and if I spend the money on food, then I would trek in fulfilment of my wife's evil decree". That was when he decided to run to Jesus Christ for help, and the Lord turned things around for him. By the time he was sharing this testimony, he was dedicating two new houses on the same day. What material burden are you carrying presently? If you run to Jesus, He will help you carry it. Through Him all material burdens can be lifted!

Key Point: Over the ages, Jesus Christ has borne the burden of many. If you can fully come to Him, He will readily help you to carry the load that you cannot bear.

Topic: A Lone Voice

Text: 2 Chronicles 18:1-12

Key Verse: "And the king of Israel said unto Jehoshaphat, There is yet one man, by whom we may enquire of the LORD: but I hate him; for he never prophesied good unto me, but always evil: the same is Micaiah the son of Imla. And Jehoshaphat said, Let not the king say so.” - 2 Chronicles 18:7

People respond to the truth in different ways. A few will give all, including their comfort and even life, to defend the truth. Others would oppose the truth and ridicule God’s messenger. Some will believe the truth for what it is yet disobey it. Truth is not affirmed by the vote of the majority; one messenger of God with the truth from the Throne like Micaiah will ultimately triumph over the millions that oppose it. King Jehoshaphat started to tread a slippery road by having affinity with Ahab.

After signing a treaty and agreeing to go to battle with Ahab, he wanted a stamp of approval from Jehovah and said: "Is there not here a prophet of the LORD besides, that we might enquire of him?" The false prophets threatened Micaiah and prophesied lies to Ahab and Jehoshaphat. Ahab hated God and feared to hear the rebuke and corrections of the Almighty through his anointed prophet. In the midst of this dislike and disdain for the truth, the voice of Micaiah was clearly heard, "As the LORD liveth, even what my God saith, that will I speak.". From this incident, believers can see God’s clear warnings not to keep company with lovers of iniquity.

They must uphold sound biblical convictions to the end. In the midst of falsehood and widespread heresy, we need to stand out like a lone voice in the wilderness, stoutly proclaim and stand for the truth like John the Baptist. In the face of the Ahabs and false prophets of this world, a genuine child of God must defend God’s standards with his all, including his life.

Thought for the day: God’s undiluted truth is the bulwark against falsehoods and heresies.

DUNAMIS DEVOTIONAL: The Trap Of Negative Words

Dunamis' Daily Devotional written by Pastor Paul Enenche.jpg

Welcome to Dunamis' Daily Devotional written by Pastor Paul Enenche

Today: Sunday March 12, 2017

Topic: The Trap Of Negative Words

Scripture: Death and life are in the power of the tongue: and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof. Proverbs 18:21

Thought For The Day: Until you value your words, you do not value your life.

We live in times where there is an escalation of diverse afflictions, a time where satan is doing a lot of overtime.

From our anchor scripture, we see that one avenue which people use to establish themselves in afflictions is in the speaking of negative words.

Words are seeds (Mark 4:14). What you say determines what you reap. When you say ‘It is well with my soul’ it means, it must be well despite what is happening.

Many people today are reaping the fruits of the words they spoke yesterday. For instance, when you say ‘I have fever’, how much did you buy it? When you ask some people how they are doing, they would say ‘We are managing.’

Until you value your words, you do not value your life. Do not use negative words even as a joke.

Words are also prophecies (Numbers 14:28). Every time you talk, you prophesy into your future and declare how your life will end.

Beloved, if you want life and desire to see good days, you must refrain your lips from speaking evil and your mouth from speaking perversion. Whatever is not your intention must never be your confession. Avoid the trap of negative words.

Remember this: Until you value your words, you do not value your life.

1. Make positive declarations concerning your life on daily basis.

2. Read Christian inspirational books like ‘15 Kingdom Strategies for Survival’ by Dr. Paul Enenche.

Prayer: O LORD, I declare that it is well with my soul. I reject every spirit of affliction. I will live to fulfil my days on earth, Lord, in Jesus’ Name.
