See what this female keke rider did in Bayelsa

Early morning sunrise in Yenagoa

What a man can do, a focused and sincere woman can do it better. I just jumped in to keke this morning to drop my kids to school, of course you know how recession has dealt with Nigerians even those who have cars. I noticed that the keke rider is a young woman, I became elated about that.
Woman keke rider in Yenagoa

But I noticed that the young lady is mindful of the steering and the wheel, unlike the men who don't and think of the passenger they are carrying. Sometime, the manner in which they overtake big and other small cars will make you faint before seeing an accident. I so much enjoyed the ride.

Finally another astonishing thing I noticed was the manner she used in taking her fee. Now I conclude what crazy men can't do well serious and calm women do better.

If it is inspiring, share please!

Entertainment: Nicki Minaj Gushes Over Taylor Swift After Breaking Billboard Hot 100 Record

Girl power! Nicki Minaj praised Taylor Swift on Feb. 8, after she surpassed her for having the second-most Billboard Hot 100 Hits among women. We are loving this healthy female competition. See the sweet message Nicki left for Taylor!

Hip hop star Nicki Minaj, 34 has just made history. The “Anaconda” singer now holds the title of having the the second most Billboard Hot 100 Hits among women — having just passed popstar Taylor Swift, 27. Although Nicki may be ahead of TSwift with most hits, there is definitely no “Bad Blood” between these two! The bootylicious rapper posted an photo to her Instagram with the news, not only being happy for herself, but praising Taylor. See the nice message in the caption below!

The “Bang, Bang” singer began the caption on the phont saying, “Oh hey, Taylor – Taylor & I were tied but thanks to u guys, #RunUp debuted on the Hot 100 this week so I was able to inch past her a bit. Did u know she’s a sag like ya girl?” She then mentioned that she loves her and added heart emojis! What a nice message! An even cooler part to the caption is that the “Only” rapper added the hashtag, “Sagittarius rules.” Both Taylor and Nicki have birthdays in early December — the pop singer on Dec. 13 and the hip hop star on Dec. 8 — so they both share the same zodiac sign, Sagittarius or “sag.” How cool is that? We are loving this healthy female competition.

Michael Jackson’s Mom Katherine Claims Nephew Is Allegedly Abusing Her

The Jackson family and drama go hand in hand, but we never saw this latest twist coming! Family matriarch Katherine Jackson claims she’s the victim of elder abuse at the hands of her own nephew and we’ve got the shocking details.

Oh no! Late pop superstar Michael Jackson’s 86-year-old mother Katherine claims she’s endured years of torment at the hands of nephew Trent Lamar Jackson, who she says in court documents filed Feb. 8 is an “abusive con-man.” She says that he’s been trying for years to take control of her finances so he can drain her bank account dry. Katherine is so afraid of him that in papers obtained by TMZ,
She shockingly claims she had to hide in her own closet in order to speak freely with her kids because Trent’s been desperately trying to keep her estranged from her large family. The site adds that daughter Rebbie,  66, and some of her other children are willing to testify about his scary behavior.

Trent had been living a pretty sweet life up until now, as Katherine had employed him as her driver and gave him a nearly six-figure annual salary! He had almost no living expenses as he was staying rent-free in a guest house on her sprawling Encino property. She’s had enough though, and tried to fire him back on Feb. 3, even having Sheriff’s officers present in case he tried to harm her in retaliation, but he took off as soon he saw authorities.

“You can just report that I came to the Villa,” Emir of Kano tells Journalists

Acting President Yemi Osinbajo held a closed door meeting with Muhammad Sanusi II,emir of Kano, at the presidential villa in Abuja on Wednesday.

The meeting held in the office of Osinbajo.

On his way out, the monarch refused to speak to state house correspondents, and told them to simply report that he came to the presidential villa.

“You can just report that I came to the Villa,” he said.

Of late, the former governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has been vocal in his criticism of the federal government.

In December 2016, he said President Muhammadu Buhari‘s administration lacked the right policies to fix Nigeria’s economy.

He said no country or financial institution would borrow $30 billion to Nigeria, a country with five exchange rates.

“I can tell you for free, if the Senate today approves that we can borrow $30bn, honestly, no one will lend to us. It should be approved and I will like to see how you will go to the international market with an economy that has five exchange rates,” Sanusi had said.

President Buhari’s sister urges Nigerians to pray for President

Rakiya Adamu, the only surviving sister of President Muhammadu Buhari, has appealed to Nigerians to pray for the President, instead of spreading rumours about his health.

She made the appeal in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Daura, Katsina State, on Wednesday.

The 84-year-old said the president needed the prayers of every Nigerian for him to succeed in the task of addressing the problems facing the nation.

She said that President Buhari being a mortal was bound to fall ill or even die “at any time his creator wishes.”

According to her, she speaks with the president daily since his departure to London on annual leave and he is in high spirit.

She added that “I just returned from the lesser Hajj and even while in Saudi Arabia, I was communicating with him daily.’’

The president’s sister, popularly called Amadodo, told NAN that while in Saudi Arabia, she communicated with Buhari every 10 hours.

“We were 28 from our mother, late Hajiya Zulaihatu, who died in 1992, but Buhari was her last born,” she said.

A cross section of people in Daura, President Buhari’s hometown in Katsina State, expressed dismay over how some Nigerians spread rumours about the president’s health.

Abdulrahman Daura, the Northwest Organising Secretary of All Progressives Congress (APC), described the rumoured death and state of health of the president as baseless and unfounded.
Mr. Daura said “Buhari is in good health and is only conducting routine medical checkup in the United Kingdom.”

He advised those spreading rumours to always be constructive and avoid campaign of hate and calumny, adding that “it is only God that gives health and takes life.”
Similarly, Aminu Na-Dari, a close ally of the president, said he had also been in constant touch with Mr. Buhari since his departure and their conversation did not in any way indicate that he was having health challenge.

He said the current economic hardship was not caused by the present administration and
the Buhari-led government had been working hard to remedy the situation.

A group of students of the School of Health Technology, Daura, described the rumour as unfortunate and asked the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) to issue a statement condemning it. (NAN)

In a statement sent to PREMIUM TIMES, Mr. Isah said the office of the AGF filed an application at the Code of Conduct Tribunal, CCT, requesting it to commence trial of the two judges.

Nigerian Police displaying money like magicians… So, APC didn’t bribe INEC? - PDP

Ahmed Makarfi, caretaker committee chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), says the N111 million displayed by the police on Tuesday, reminded him of “actions of magicians”.

The police had said the money was part of the bribe, which Nyesom Wike, governor of Rivers state, gave to some officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to influence the outcome of the December 10 rerun election.

Wike has since denied the allegation, accusing the police of “sinking to the lowest depths”.

Dayo Adeyeye, secretary of the caretaker committee of the PDP, wondered how the police arrived at the conclusion that money recovered was from the PDP in Rivers state.

“What is the evidence that the monies recovered from INEC officers were from the PDP or the governor? Were the monies marked? So, APC did not bribe INEC officers?” he asked during the presentation of a report from the strategy review and inter-party affairs committee of the opposition party.

On his part, Makarfi said anyone could have come forward to present money.

“The police brought out money, saying it was confiscated from INEC officers. We too could have brought some monies here and also said they were confiscated from INEC officers,” he said.

“What of the money with the police and other security agencies? Have they not compromised or is the money not recoverable?”

The panel set up by the police to investigate the irregularities in legislative rerun said three senior INEC officials collected N20 million each and others received N15 million.

Arik suspends flights to New York

Arik Air has temporarily suspended its flight operations to the John F. Kennedy International Airport, New York, United States.

According to findings by our correspondent, the two Airbus A330-200 aircraft dedicated to the route have been taken to France for C check, which is an extensive visual inspection of specified areas, components and systems as well as operational and functional checks of an aircraft for maintenance purposes.

The last flight to New York by the carrier, it was gathered, was on Friday, February 3, 2017, with the suspension of flights taking effect a day after. The suspension is expected to be lifted on February 18 when the aircraft are due to return to Nigeria.

Our correspondent gathered that normal operations would commence on the route on February 19 and that the suspension was initially planned for January.

When our correspondent attempted to book a New York flight through the airline’s customer service line, the representative said there were no flights to the JFK until February 19 without giving any explanation.

Arik operates the Lagos-JFK service on Sundays, Wednesdays and Fridays, with check-in starting at 5pm and take off at 11:45pm, but when our correspondent visited its check-in counter at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos on Wednesday, there were no New York bound passengers.

The airline had in the last two months been having issues with its passengers on the New York and London, United Kingdom routes over delays and outright cancellation of flights.

While appealing for the understanding of passengers booked on the Lagos-New York service in December, the airline had said regular operations would be normalised from Thursday, December 29, 2016, attributing the cancellations to the damage to its A330-200 aircraft with registration mark, 5N-JIC by a ground handling company at the JFK International Airport, New York.

The Public Relations and Communications Manager, Adebanji Ola, in a text message said, “It is not a suspension. We only cancelled a number of flights to enable the aircraft to go for maintenance in Europe.”

Meanwhile, security operatives on Wednesday were said to have barred aggrieved passengers of the airline from gaining entry into its headquarters at the Lagos airport.

Eyewitnesses said the aggrieved passengers came to demand for the refund of their air ticket fares as a result of cancelled flights between December and early this year.

Donald Trump under fire in Nordstrom Ivanka row

Ivanka Trump

Democrats have condemned President Donald Trump's tweet attacking a clothing retailer after it dropped a fashion line owned by his daughter.

Mr Trump tweeted that "Ivanka has been treated so unfairly" by clothing retailer Nordstrom.
A Democratic senator called the post "inappropriate" and an ex-White House ethics tsar dubbed it "outrageous".

Earlier this month Nordstrom became the fifth retailer to drop the Ivanka Trump clothing line, citing lack of sales.

The move comes amid a boycott of all Trump products, which activists have dubbed #GrabYourWallet, in reference to a 2005 comment Mr Trump made about women's bodies.

A spokesman for Pennsylvania Senator Bob Casey said the senator "feels it is unethical and inappropriate for the president to lash out at a private company for refusing to enrich his family".
Norm Eisen, who served as ethics tsar under President Barack Obama, called the move "outrageous" and advised Nordstrom to sue Mr Trump under the California Unfair Competition Law.

This is different - Anthony Zurcher, BBC News, Washington

In 1950 President Harry Truman penned an angry letter to Washington Post music critic Paul Hume, who had panned a singing performance by the president's daughter, Margaret. Sixty-six years later, another president has come to the defence of his offspring.

For Truman, the incident led to widespread ridicule. Donald Trump's Twitter attack on Nordstrom may have graver consequences, however, calling into question the appropriateness of a president using his public megaphone not just to protect a daughter's honour, but to advance the family's business interests as well.

Mr Trump has slammed companies before, but that at least has been in the name of advancing US economic interests. This is different. This is personal.

Ethics experts have warned that Mr Trump's assurances of a "firewall" between his presidency and his family's financial concerns was insufficient. Now the president has provided a new, key piece of supporting evidence that could very well be cited in lawsuits trying to force Mr Trump to fully divest from his business empire.

The irony is that Mr Trump's efforts may backfire. Would any retailer want a partnership with Ivanka Trump knowing they risk the ire of the president and his supporters if things go sour?

The White House has played down the row.

Press spokesman Sean Spicer said that Nordstrom's decision was political, and the president was simply reacting to "an attack" on his daughter.

"This is a direct attack on his policies and her name and so there's clearly an attempt for [the president] to stand up for her being maligned because they have a problem with his policies," Mr Spicer said during the daily press briefing.

In announcing their decision six days ago, Nordstrom said the decision was based on the brand's performance, which is what the firm repeated on Wednesday.

"Sales of the brand have steadily declined to the point where it didn't make good business sense for us to continue with the line for now," the company said in a statement, adding that Ivanka Trump was personally informed of the decision in early January.

The tweet, which was sent by Mr Trump's @realDonaldTrump account was then retweeted by the official @POTUS account.

Shares in the retailer fell 0.7%, before rallying slightly by midday.

Earlier this week, First Lady Melania Trump came under fire after she re-filed a lawsuit against the Daily Mail over false allegations that she once worked as an escort.

Her lawyers accused the news website of trying to deny her a "once-in-a-lifetime opportunity" to profit from her position as "one of the most photographed women in the world".

Critics accused the First Lady of improperly seeking to profit financially from her White House position.

Mrs Trump is seeking damages of $150m (£120m).

“We wish to inform the public that the incident took place on Tuesday 7th February 2017, at Onitsha, Anambra State.

“In line with our zero tolerance for acts of indiscipline and unprofessional conducts especially in relation to violation of human rights, we wish to further state that the soldiers involved have since been identified and apprehended.

“They have also been charged for assault by their Commanding Officer. Similarly, troops have been warned to desist from such acts that infringe on human rights and cast serious aspersions on the good image of the Nigerian Army.

“The public should please regard this ugly incident as an isolated case which is not true reflection of the Nigerian Army.”

Concise Film on Chibok girls premieres at Sundance Festival

A short documentary film shot in Hausa language, which revolves around the experiences of the abducted Chibok schoolgirls, was recently screened at the prestigious Sundance International Film Festival in the United States.
Short film on chibok girls

The 10-minute documentary movie, titled Waiting for Hassana, tells the story of the Chibok kidnap from a single perspective – the voice of one of the 57 captives who managed to escape from the clutches of the Boko Haram insurgents.

The lead character, Jessica, an escapee, shares her haunting account of a friendship violently interrupted by Boko Haram.

Produced by Uzodinma Iweala, son of former Minister of Finance, Mrs. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, Waiting for Hasanna was shot over the course of 2016 in Nigeria by acclaimed Nigerian cinematographer, Victor Okhai, and directed by Ifunanya Maduka.

Enthusing on theme and the idea behind Waiting for Hasanna, Maduka, who previously worked on Half of a Yellow Sun, and the documentary, Building a Dream, covering the Oprah Winfrey Leadership Academy for Girls, said her latest work would expose the audience to the yet-to-be explored side of the February 14, 2014 abduction of the schoolgirls at Chibok in Borno State.

She said, “This film introduces a new point of entry into the Chibok kidnappings. We know the global story, now we hear the personal one. As the director, my aim was to visually and sonically plunge audiences into the psychological and emotional landscape of our subject.

“My hope is that audiences will leave, feeling inextricably linked to her life and her story — that it will become as much their story as it is hers. That radical intimacy is, to me, the basic and necessary function of art. It was also important to me that a Nigerian told this story, and I am proud that our crew reflects that drive.”

For Iweala, who is a trained surgeon from Columbia University’s College of Physicians and Surgeons,  the premiere of Waiting for Hasanna, was a destination from the land of dream to that of reality.

He said, “Within every tragedy there are incredible stories of resilience. When my mother came to me and said that people need to hear about the strength of these young women who have suffered the worst and yet still have so much to offer the world, I said I would help to get that story out there. Waiting for Hasanna is the result of a team of Nigerians dedicated to telling our own stories to ourselves and the world.”

Nigerian-American Nnamdi Asomugha was the primary backer and executive producer of Waiting for Hasanna, while gallerist Edward Nahem, and Ann and Andrew Tisch, were also executive producers.

KENNETH COPELAND: Called to Intercession

Kenneth and Gloria Copeland
Kenneth Copeland's Daily Devotional written by Kenneth and Gloria Copeland
Topic: Called to Intercession
Thursday February 9, 2017

Blessed are they that mourn: for they shall be comforted. - Matthew 5:4

Do you know what Jesus was really talking about when He said those words? He was talking about the mourning of the intercessor. He was teaching about the comfort that comes to the intercessor when he is assured by the Holy Spirit that he has prayed through.

To pray through means "to break through the barriers that have stopped the work of God in the lives of others." It means using your spiritual armor to push back the forces of darkness that surround them.

There's a desperate need for believers who are willing to do that today. There's a need for intercessors who will go before God and reach out for His mercy and compassion for the sinner, for the sick and for this downcast world. For prayer warriors who will stick with it until they have the assurance inside, in their spirits, that every barrier is broken and every area of bondage has been abolished.

God is looking for intercessors like that—and there are certain things that won't happen on this earth until He finds them. There are blessings and moves of God that won't come until someone gives birth to those things by prayer.

Even the Lord Jesus Himself was ushered into the earth by intercession. Remember Simeon and Anna? They were both intercessors, prayer warriors of God. They'd spent years in spiritual mourning, praying for the Messiah to come. But when they were done, they experienced the comfort of the Holy Spirit. For when they saw Jesus as a tiny baby in the temple, they recognized Him and rejoiced.

If you're wondering if you're one of those who's been called to intercession, then you probably are. God is calling believers everywhere to experience that unique kind of mourning and comfort that only the intercessor knows. He's calling you to lay down your life for others through prayer.

Somewhere in the world, someone needs you to pray them through. Spend some time on your knees today.

SEED OF DESTINY: The Tragedy of Ingratitude

Pastor Paul Enenche
Dunamis’ Daily Devotional written by Pastor Paul Enenche
Topic: The Tragedy of Ingratitude
Thursday February 9, 2017

Scripture: And Jesus answering said, Were there not ten cleansed? but where are the nine? There are not found that returned to give glory to God, save this stranger. And he said unto him, Arise, go thy way: thy faith hath made thee whole. Luke 17:17-19.

Thought For The Day: If you cannot notice what God has done for you, you will never see what He wants to do for you.

Many people pray without securing Divine attention. And when prayer does not secure Divine attention, it will not be answered. Now, what is that prayer that must secure Divine attention?

The prayer that must secure the attention of God must be ‘clothed’ with thanksgiving. How you handled the last miracle God gave you by returning praise to Him determines whether or not you will experience the next one.

Today, there are many grumblers but few thanksgivers. Ingratitude makes a man remember God only in the times of adversities but forget Him in prosperity.

Why must we avoid the tragedy of ingratitude?

Ingratitude blinds our eyes to God’s work in our lives: Jesus healed ten lepers but only one of them returned to appreciate God for the healing; the remaining nine were ungrateful servants. This shows us the proportion of the grateful to the ungrateful in the Church today – out of every ten persons that God does something for in the Church, only one normally returns to give glory to God.

Ingratitude made the nine lepers not to see what God did for them. And if you cannot notice what God has done for you, you will never see what He wants to do for you.

Remember this: If you cannot notice what God has done for you, you will never see what He wants to do for you.

1. Always return the praise to God for everything He does for you like that grateful leper.

2. Employ all the avenues of worship that you know to praise and honour God.

3. You can get the copies of worship songs released by Dr Paul Enenche in CDs and MP3’s to deepen your worship life.

Prayer: O LORD, open my eyes to see Your works in my life every day in order to praise You better, in Jesus’ Name.

United States says it killed 11 al-Qaeda operatives in Syria air strikes

MARCH 21: A F-15E Strike Eagle from the 355th Expeditionary Fighter Squadro

US forces killed 11 members of al-Qaeda in two air strikes near Idlib in Syria, this month, including a former ally of Osama Bin Laden, the Pentagon said.

Captain Jeff Davis, a spokesman, said 10 operatives were killed in a single strike on 3 February.
A second strike on 4 February killed Abu Hani al-Masri, who had close ties to the late al-Qaeda leader, he said.

Al-Masri is said to have set up and run al-Qaeda training camps in Afghanistan during the 1980s and 1990s.

He also had close ties to Ayman al-Zawahiri, who became the leader of al-Qaeda when Bin Laden was killed by US forces in 2011.

"These strikes disrupt al-Qaeda's ability to plot and direct external attacks targeting the US and our interests worldwide," said Capt Davis.

Al-Qaeda's influence in Syria operates largely through an affiliate jihadist group, Jabhat Fateh al-Sham, formerly known as al-Nusra Front.

The group announced in mid-2016 that it was no longer affiliated with any external group, prompting speculation that it had cut ties with al-Qaeda, although the latter group was not mentioned by name.
It is thought that the leadership structure of Fateh al-Sham is still intertwined with al-Qaeda.

A US operation against al-Qaeda in Yemen last week - the first military action authorised by new president Donald Trump - resulted in the death of a Navy Seal and up to 16 civilians, including children, according to reports.

Mr Trump's administration declared the operation a success, saying it had yielded valuable intelligence.

US POLITICS: Senate confirms Trump attorney general pick Jeff Sessions

Senate confirms Trump attorney general pick Jeff Sessions

The US Senate has confirmed President Donald Trump's nomination for attorney general, Alabama Senator Jeff Sessions, by a vote of 52 to 47.

The confirmation follows a series of divisive hearings during which Democrats attacked Mr Sessions' record on civil rights.

Democrat Elizabeth Warren was silenced after recalling historic allegations of racism against Mr Sessions.

The Alabama senator's nomination was among Mr Trump's most controversial.

The vote largely followed party lines, with just one Democrat senator - Joe Manchin of West Virginia - voting for Mr Sessions.

Mr Sessions' Republican colleagues in the chamber applauded him as their majority carried him over the line. He will now take charge of the Justice Department and its 113,000 employees, including 93 US attorneys.

Addressing the chamber after the vote, Mr Sessions said: "There is no greater honour than to represent the people of Alabama in the greatest deliberative body in the world.

"I appreciate the full debate we've had and thank those afterwards who found sufficient confidence to cast their vote to confirm me as the next attorney general.

"I fully understand the august responsibility of this office."

But Mr Sessions added that "denigrating people who don't agree with us is not good for our politics".

During debates ahead of the vote, Ms Warren and other Democratic senators recalled criticism of Mr Sessions by Martin Luther King's widow, who opposed his nomination as a federal judge in 1986, alleging he had intimidated black voters.

That nomination was rejected by a US Senate panel amid concerns over allegedly racist comments made by Mr Sessions, and remarks which appeared to be sympathetic to white supremacist group the Ku Klux Klan.

David Duke, the former leader of the the KKK, welcomed the confirmation, writing on Twitter: "Mr Trump's appointment of Bannon, Flynn and Sessions are the first steps in the project of taking America back."

Ms Warren, who was temporarily banned from the chamber, wrote: "If Jeff Sessions makes even the tiniest attempt to bring his racism, sexism & bigotry into the Justice Department, he'll hear from all of us."

At 70, Mr Sessions is the same age as Mr Trump and was an early supporter of the president. Mr Trump has lashed out on Twitter at Democrats stalling his cabinet picks, including Mr Sessions, who is only the sixth of Mr Trump's 15 nominees to be confirmed.

The Alabama senator is widely seen as an inspiration for Mr Trump's anti-immigration policies, and his close ties to the president and special advisor Steve Bannon have raised concerns about his ability to be sufficiently independent from the White House.

The confirmation follows a turbulent first fortnight for Mr Trump, during which the president has faced heavy criticism over his controversial travel ban and a raid in Yemen which killed one US Navy operative and a number of civilians, including children.
