Proclaim The Good News - Pastor W.F Kumuyi

TOPIC: Proclaim The Good News

Bible Text: Mark 7:31-37

Key Verse: "And he charged them that they should tell no man: but the more he charged them, so much the more a great deal they published it" (Mark 7:36).

Someone said: "It is not enough to hide God's word in your heart, you must speak for God in your place of influence".A great miracle has taken place through Jesus Christ. A deaf and dumb man has been healed of his condition and this elicited celebration and great joy, not only from the recipient of the miracle, but indeed from those who witnessed the supernatural manifestation. But Jesus charged them not to tell anyone about it. Yet, the joy was so much that they continued to publicise it.

In our text today, Jesus showed an example of doing good deeds not to be praised by men. He just wanted the people to understand that what transpired was of God and that they should rather give God the glory. On the other hand, the people demonstrated that: "we must rather tell others what God has done in our lives than keep quiet". The receiver of the miracle considered it a mark of ingratitude if he kept quiet and behaved as if nothing great happened.

This clearly shows the importance of showing gratitude to God. We should draw a line between things that offend God and those that actually please Him. The deaf and dumb man who decided to publicize the miracle he received did not commit sin of disobedience by telling others. Today, some believers hide under some flimsy instructions they receive to deny God of the glory due Him. We must not allow ourselves to be gaged. Every gift from God must be testified of to encourage other people who are looking up to Him for a divine touch in their lives. We will not be doing well by hiding the blessings of God in our lives.

Thought for the day: Let the redeemed of the Lord say so.

Like her hero, Kim Kardashian, Eudoxie uses her extraordinary appearance to sell events, photos, and promote products.

Another said: " and too bad I don't understand nothing you're saying."

While some radio station and television interviewers have questioned whether her bum is 100 percent natural, this has not stopped her becoming an extremely popular celebrity in her country.

Iranians shocked as Koran reciter faces child sex abuse claims

Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei meeting Saeed Tousi

Child sex abuse allegations involving one of Iran's best-known Koran reciters are causing shock and anger in the country, days after several accusers took the unprecedented step of going public with the claims.

The alleged victims and their families told BBC Persian that they had decided to speak out after failing to get justice through official channels.

Saeed Tousi, 46, who has ties to both the religious and political elite, faces accusations that he assaulted 10 boys, all Koran students from religious families.

Mr Tousi has strongly denied the claims, which surfaced last week when some of the alleged victims took the unusual step of telling their stories to the foreign media.

One of the accusers described to the BBC an assault which he said took place in a public bath house when he was 12 years old.

"I was so shocked I couldn't understand what was going on," he said. "I was so afraid to say anything because of the shame it would bring upon my name, but then I found out that there were so many other cases among his students. So I broke my silence."

Saeed Tousi is one of Iran's most revered Koran reciters and has many students

In claims which cannot be verified independently, the accusers say they launched an official complaint about Mr Tousi six years ago, which resulted in him being brought to court.

The case was dropped and a second alleged victim told the BBC he had now "lost all hope" that justice would be done.

Man recites Koran in front of audience of young men

Despite the allegations, a spokesman for the judiciary, Gholam Hossein Mohseni-Ejei, said there was "insufficient evidence" to investigate the abuse claims.

Iranians are not used to hearing such sensitive issues discussed openly in public, and the revelations have prompted much anguished and impassioned debate on the social media platforms which many now use to follow and share news.

BBC Persian's interview with the alleged victims was viewed an unprecedented 400,000 times on its Telegram channel.

"Another shameful page in the history of the Islamic republic," wrote one user, called Meysam. "People are being abused under the banner of religion... and no-one is going to be held accountable."

"If the victims had been girls, [the authorities] would've accused them of being dressed inappropriately and provocatively. And they would argue that the assault was understandable" wrote another, called Somayeh.

Judiciary chief Ayatollah Sadeq Amoli-Larijani warned against co-operating with "hostile media"

                                Ayatollah Sadeq Amoli-Larijani (1 November 2016)

"But in this case, the victims are men and the [alleged] abuser was a member of the Supreme Council of the Koran."

As with many things in Iran, the case has become highly politicised.

Mr Tousi's closeness to the establishment, and in particular to the Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, has been invoked by both his supporters and detractors.

"Tousi has won several prizes which were awarded by the Supreme Leader," exiled Iranian human rights activist and lawyer Mohammad Mostafaei told the BBC. "[He has] taken advantage of this link to avoid prosecution."

Mr Tousi, meanwhile, has suggested that the allegations against him were part of a campaign to discredit the Supreme Leader and his conservative allies.

The head of the judiciary, Ayatollah Sadeq Amoli-Larijani, issued a veiled threat to Mr Tousi's accusers, describing them as "ungrateful people" and saying anyone who co-operated with what he called the "hostile foreign media" would face prosecution.

A prominent MP, Ali Motahari, spoke out in support of the alleged victims.

"It's not natural the investigations into this case have taken so long," he told local media. "This drawn out process has forced the plaintiffs to resort to the foreign media and now they're being accused of being anti-establishment."

'Tough questions'

Many people who have spoken to BBC Persian about the case, both in interviews and on social media, have expressed concern about the impact going public might have on the complainants.

Conservative values and taboos mean victims of sexual assault in Iran - especially male victims - risk being shamed and attacked for speaking out.

"We should be concerned that the alleged victims might not go unharmed because of all the chatter on social media," said Iran-based lawyer, Abdolsamad Khoramshahi. "Don't they want to continue to live in this society?"

It is not clear if further action will be taken by the authorities in response to the public outcry, but whatever happens next the case has left many Iranians - some for the first time - asking very tough questions about the people they usually look to for spiritual and moral guidance.

"Being religious is not a guarantee of morality in society," said Nader, a BBC Persian viewer. "In certain cases, being religious provides protection against immoral and illegal behaviour."

Russia puts Ukrainian librarian on trial for 'inciting hatred'

Ukrainian library head Natalia Sharina in court in Moscow (2 Nov)
The director of Moscow's Library of Ukrainian Literature has gone on trial charged with inciting ethnic hatred against Russians.

Natalia Sharina is accused of disseminating banned literature classed as extremist.

She denied the charges in court and her lawyer told the BBC he believed the case was politically motivated.

The trial opened with a feisty exchange between the librarian and the state prosecutor.

First the prosecutor cited a long list of Ukrainian publications that are either prohibited or which she said experts had deemed "degrading" to Russians.

She formally accused Natalia Sharina of acquiring the books and brochures and a CD and making them available to the public.
Natalia Sharina in court with her lawyers (2 Nov)
"I do not understand the charge and so I do not feel any guilt," replied the library director, dressed in a long cardigan and grey brogues.

"I ask the respected prosecutor to explain what actions I actually took to spread enmity," she added, demanding to know what possible motive she might have had.

Mrs Sharina, 59, also denies a second charge of embezzling library funds.

Her lawyer says witness statements describe seeing officers planting banned books at the library when they arrived to search the premises in October 2015.

"It's very sad that someone is trying to drag this court into politics," Ivan Pavlov told the judge.

Outside, the lawyer told the BBC he believed the case was "steeped in politics", adding that was true of everything to do with Ukraine now.

Relations between Moscow and Kiev are still at an all-time low after Russia annexed Crimea and pro-Russian forces seized power in parts of eastern Ukraine in 2014.

"It's no coincidence that it's the Ukrainian literature library that was searched, and not a Belarusian or a Cossack one," Mr Pavlov argued.

The trial was adjourned for three weeks and Natalia Sharina will remain under house arrest, as she has for over a year.

She was only recently allowed out for a daily walk and is banned from speaking directly to journalists.

If the librarian is eventually found guilty, she could be facing well over a decade behind bars.

US election 2016: Obama decries Clinton email 'innuendo'

US election 2016: Obama decries Clinton email 'innuendo'

US President Barack Obama has implicitly criticised FBI director James Comey over the new inquiry into Hillary Clinton's email use.

He said US investigations should not operate on the basis of "innuendo" or "incomplete information".

The FBI is now investigating new emails that may be linked to its probe into Mrs Clinton's private email server.

Mr Comey has faced a fierce backlash for announcing the move just 11 days before the presidential election.

Mr Obama's remarks are his first public comments since Mr Comey's announcement on Friday that the FBI had discovered a new batch of emails that may or may not be relevant to an earlier, closed investigation into Democratic presidential candidate Mrs Clinton's handling of classified information.

"I've made a very deliberate effort to make sure that I don't look like I'm meddling," Mr Obama said in an interview with website NowThisNew.

But he added: "I do think that there is a norm that when there are investigations we don't operate on innuendo, we don't operate on incomplete information, we don't operate on leaks. We operate based on concrete decisions that are made.

"When this was investigated thoroughly the last time, the conclusion of the FBI, the conclusion of the justice department, the conclusion of repeated congressional investigations was that she had made some mistakes but that there wasn't anything there that was prosecutable."

Believe it or not: Sex for $20

Read this as it was shared!
On their wedding night, the young bride approached her new husband and asked for $20.00 for their first lovemaking encounter. In his highly aroused state, her husband readily agreed. This scenario was repeated each time they made love, for more than 30 years, with him thinking that it was a cute way for her to afford new clothes and other incidentals that she needed.

Arriving home around noon one day, she was surprised to find her husband in a very drunken state. During the next few minutes, he explained that his employer was going through a process of corporate downsizing, and he had been let go.

It was unlikely that, at the age of 59, he'd be able to find another job. Calmly, his wife handed him a bank book which showed more than thirty years of steady deposits and interest totaling nearly $1 million. Then she showed him certificates of deposits issued by the bank which were worth over $2 million. She explained that she had 'charged' him for sex, and these were the results of her savings and investments.

The husband was so astounded he could barely speak. Finally he found his voice and blurted out, 'If I'd had any idea what yo were doing, I would have had sex only with you.'
That's when she shot him. ߘⰟԫߙˊ

Woman stuns motorists as she drives along motorway flashing her bre@st

PAY-Woman-drives-topless-in-Buenos-Aires (1)
A mystery woman stunned motorists as she drove along a motorway topless while dancing around to her favourite song.

The woman, whose identity is unknown, exposed her breasts as she travelled down the urban motorway in Buenos Aires, Argentina.

Donning a pair of shades, she didn't appear bothered by the attention of other motorists who were driving past in higher vehicles.

Instead, she showed she didn’t have a care in the world by jigging around and waving at them as they travelled on the opposite carriageway.

However, it is thought to have happened after the woman shared it with a friend on WhatsApp .

The song she was dancing to - by an Uruguayan cumbia group called Marama - relates how a woman loses her head at night-time after a few drinks. More here

'Britain's luckiest mum' enjoys 3 week ORGASM after births of four children

Meet Britain's luckiest mum who experienced four pain-free labours using hypnotherapy - before enjoying a three-week ORGASM.

Emily Street, 35, claims to have enjoyed the euphoric sensation after the births of her four children, and said she "loved" every minute of labour.

The midwife began using hypnotherapy before her first child Oscar, nine, as she was "terrified" of giving birth.

Emily, who lives with husband Paul, 34, in Hale, Cheshire, said: "I was really quite terrified having seen loads of things as a midwife, and obviously the things that really stick with you are the ones that weren't so nice.

"I remember being heavily pregnant with Oscar, sitting on the sofa a nervous wreck and just bursting into tears saying, 'I don't know how I'm going to do this'."

Emily researched 'natal hypnotherapy' and enrolled on a three-part course which included hypnobirthing which taught her to control the pain through breathing techniques.

Her family were sceptical about the therapy, but Emily says she felt a sensation close to an orgasm. Read more on Mirror

Donald Trump is about to go up in flames with no trousers and holding Hillary Clinton's severed head

We still don't know if he'll crash and burn in the Presidential race.

But these firework enthusiasts are going to make Donald Trump go up in flames.

Wearing no trousers and holding Hillary Clinton 's severed head, he'll be set ablaze on Saturday to celebrate a very non-American tradition.

A 36ft tall, steel-framed effigy of the Republican billionaire will be the star turn at a small town's celebration of Guy Fawkes' Night.

Edenbridge will mark the man who tried to blow up the British Parliament in 1605 with the man who's exploded US politics as we know it. You can read more and more here

Ghanaian prominent radio and television relationship counselor, Rev. George Lutterodt has revealed the reasons why no man would be able to satisfy any woman s*xually on this earth. Speaking recently in an interview with the host of Abusua FM’s Drive, Ike-Da Unpredictable, the Maverick Counselor, explained that women are full of pretence when it comes to satisfying them in bed, he says they would only appreciate men for time wasting by faking loud moaning to deceive them. Read what he said below:

“No man can satisfy any woman sexually on this earth, the thank you they say is appreciation for your time wasted. She is fanning your ego to let you know that you are counted among the lot.

There are differences in the way we have the excitement, satisfaction and the pretense.

Most of the moaning all are lies.

Men are vulnerable s*xually; the male organ is the most vulnerable organ in the world and is so disgraceful. Every hole you place it in, it’s happy. It appreciates and responds to every v*gina”.

It’s not the first time George Lutteroft is making such controversial statement. In April, he adviced all married couples to desist from practicing doggy sex position, if they want to save their marriages.

Hillary Clinton: Wall Street's favorite enemy

U.S. Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton speaks at a campaign rally in Sanford, Florida, U.S. November 1, 2016. REUTERS/Brian Snyder
Hillary Clinton began her presidential campaign by promising to do what it takes to rein in Wall Street.

Boosted by Wall Street's toughest critics, U.S. senators Bernie Sanders and Elizabeth Warren, the Democratic candidate has declared "the deck is still stacked in favor of those at the top" and said she would raise bank fees and tighten banking regulations. She has encouraged regulators to break up too-risky banks.

And yet, Wall Street appears unperturbed by the prospect of a Clinton presidency. In fact, the banking industry has supported Clinton with buckets of cash and stocks have sold off on days when the Clinton campaign stumbles. Privately, bankers say that they trust her to remain a pragmatist who will keep the current regulatory regime laid down by the Dodd-Frank Wall Street reform legislation passed in 2010.

“I don’t think Clinton wakes up thinking about Wall Street," one senior banking industry lobbyist said.

There are hints in apparently leaked email discussions among Clinton's campaign staff that bankers are not far off the mark when they count on her to tread lightly.

Pressed during the campaign by progressive Democrats to call for a revival of the Glass-Steagall Act that would require separation of commercial and investment banking, Clinton ultimately refused. She also weighed another progressive favorite - a tax on financial transactions- but instead recommended a far narrower plan to tax only canceled orders by high speed traders.

Ultimately, what bankers most like about Clinton is that she is not Donald Trump.

Many financiers fear her unorthodox Republican rival could disrupt GLOBAL TRADE, damage geopolitical relationships and rattle markets, industry analysts and participants say.

“Those are the kind of things that corner offices think about,” said Karen Shaw Petrou of Federal Financial Analytics Inc, whose firm advises financial firms about U.S. regulatory policy. “The overriding concern about Trump has dominated people’s thinking."

Trump's candidacy has upended traditional political alliances and bankers that usually contribute more to the Republicans have been flinging money at Clinton.

Employees of the 17 largest bank holding companies and their subsidiaries have been sending her $10 for every $1 they contributed to Trump, according to a Reuters analysis. In 2012, the same group contributed twice as much to Republican candidate Mitt Romney as it did to President Barack Obama's re-election campaign. Read More on Reuters

Hospital report blames patient's fart for causing fire during surgery

Hospital report blames patient's fart for causing fire during surgery

An operating room snafu out of Japan became a viral topic because of what happened at the hospital: It seems a patient's fart ignited a fire that left her with serious burns during surgery. The incident took place at Tokyo Medical Center. A laser was being used on the cervix of a woman in her 30s when she farted, according to a newly released assessment of the April incident released by the hospital.
All equipment was operating normally, leading a panel to conclude that the woman's gas ignited the laser. The hospital report states:

“When the patient’s intestinal gas leaked into the space of the operation (room), it ignited with the irradiation of the laser, and the burning spread, eventually reaching the surgical drape and causing the fire”. The resulting fire from the fart burned much of the patient's body, but no further detail was provided about her condition.

The Washington Post explains that it's the methane and hydrogen in a person's gas that makes it potentially flammable, though "it’s difficult to overstate how minuscule the chance of that normal bodily function causing a problem truly is."

US election 2016: Clinton accuses Trump of bullying women

                                Clinton and Trump
Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton has stepped up her attacks on rival Donald Trump, labelling him a "bully" for criticising women for their looks.

Mrs Clinton said Mr Trump had a 30-year history of "demeaning, degrading, insulting and assaulting" women.

Meanwhile, Mr Trump has branded Mrs Clinton "corrupt" and said she would "destroy American healthcare forever".

He told early Clinton voters with "buyer's remorse" they could change their vote in four states.

The clashes came as the fractious contest entered its final week, with the opinion polls appearing to show the race getting tighter.

Speaking in Florida - and appearing on stage with former Miss Universe Alicia Machado, who has previously claimed Mr Trump once called her "Miss Piggy" after she put on weight - Mrs Clinton said she had "learned way back in elementary school that it's not OK to insult people".

For her part, Ms Machado called Mr Trump "cruel" and said she had spent years "sick, fighting back eating disorders" as a result of the Republican nominee's comments.

Echoing Mrs Clinton's comments at a rally in Ohio, President Barack Obama said the Republican candidate had spent a "lifetime calling women pigs and dogs and slobs".

The focus on Mr Trump's treatment of women coincided with a new TV advert put out by the Democrats which showed archive footage of Mr Trump making remarks such as: "Putting a wife to work is a very dangerous thing."

The Republican nominee has faced a string of sexual harassment allegations in the last month, after a 2005 video tape that saw him making obscene remarks about women emerged.

He has denied any wrongdoing and threatened to sue those involved after the election.

Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump (L) is welcomed to the stage by Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker

Donald Trump focused his attacks on the Affordable Care Act, dubbed Obamacare, which he believes is becoming increasingly unpopular with low income families he needs to vote for him, amid reports of higher premiums and less choice.

Appearing on stage with his running mate Mike Pence and Governor Scott Walker in Wisconsin, Mr Trump called Obamacare "a catastrophe" and said he would immediately convene a special session of Congress to repeal and replace it if he becomes president.

He also urged early voters who had "made a mistake" by voting for Mrs Clinton to change their ballots before Thursday's deadline.

Wisconsin, Michigan, Minnesota and Pennsylvania allow early vote switches but the practice is extremely rare, according to the Early Voting Information Center at Reed College.

Both sides also continued to spar over the recent revelation that FBI investigators are again probing Mrs Clinton's email practices on Tuesday.

The revelation has put Democrats on the defensive and hurt Mrs Clinton's plans to promote a positive message over the campaign's final week.

Clinton camp says FBI should say what it knows about Trump's Russia ties

Clinton camp says FBI should say what it knows about Trump's Russia ties
A top aide to Hillary Clinton urged the FBI on Tuesday to disclose what it knows about any ties between Donald Trump and Russia, accusing the agency of unfairly publicizing its inquiry into Clinton's email practices while staying quiet about the Republican presidential candidate.

The Federal Bureau of Investigation opened a preliminary inquiry in recent months into allegations that Trump or his associates might have had questionable dealings with Russian people or businesses, but found no evidence to warrant opening a full investigation, according to sources familiar with the matter. The agency has not publicly discussed the probe.

A week before Election Day, the Clinton campaign was trying to contain damage from the announcement by FBI Director James Comey on Friday that his agency was looking into newly discovered emails that might relate to Clinton's use of a private server while she was secretary of state.

Clinton has voiced confidence the FBI will not find anything problematic.
Clinton camp says FBI should say what it knows about Trump's Russia ties
She campaigned on Tuesday in the battleground state of Florida, where she was joined in Dade City by former Miss Universe Alicia Machado, whom Trump had mocked for gaining weight. Chants of “Lock her up!” from dozens of Trump supporters gathered nearby could be faintly heard while Clinton spoke.

In Ft. Lauderdale, a young man who yelled, "She's a liar" was escorted out of the rally. Several other protesters removed during the course of her speech.

"I am sick and tired of the negative, dark, divisive, dangerous vision and behavior from people who support Donald Trump," Clinton said as another protester was removed from the rally.

Trump and other Republicans have seized on Comey's announcement, which did not indicate any wrongdoing by Clinton, to ratchet up criticism of the Democratic candidate. She leads in most opinion polls ahead of the Nov. 8 election.

Trump urged people on Tuesday who voted early for his Democratic rival to cancel their ballots and switch to him.

"This is a message for any Democratic voters who have already cast their ballots for Hillary Clinton and who are having a bad case of buyer's remorse, in other words you want to change your vote," Trump told a Wisconsin rally.

“So if you live here or in Michigan or Pennsylvania or Minnesota, you can change your vote to Donald Trump."

Several states, including those cited by Trump, have a process to allow voters who cast early ballots to change their votes, either by submitting new ballots or showing up at their polling place on Election Day.

Clinton campaign manager Robby Mook questioned why the FBI director had not released any information about the agency's Russia inquiries.

"If you're in the business of releasing information about investigations on presidential candidates, release everything you have on Donald Trump. Release the information on his connections to the Russians," Mook said on CNN.

The FBI inquiry reviewed allegations that Trump or his associates might have violated the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act or engaged in contacts or commerce with people in Russia who are subject to U.S. or international financial sanctions.

The U.S. government has blamed Russia for cyber attacks on Democratic Party organizations. Democrats criticize Trump for taking what they say is a pro-Russia foreign policy stance.

Russia's possible role in the campaign again came into focus when online magazine Slate said a group of computer scientists had been alarmed by records showing thousands of apparent connection attempts between an email server operated on behalf of the Trump Organization and computers inside a Russian company, Alfa Bank in Moscow.

Trump campaign spokeswoman Hope Hicks said the server, which had been used to send out hotel marketing material, had been dormant for years.

Prominent U.S. cyber security company FireEye said it had been hired by Alfa Bank to investigate the records and had been granted access to the bank’s systems in Moscow to look for evidence of any relationship with Trump’s company or any signs of hacking or infection. FireEye said so far it had found no emails being sent back and forth or any other link.

Clinton led businessman Trump in the latest Reuters/Ipsos poll of likely voters released on Monday, by 44 percent to 39 percent. Clinton, hoping to be the first woman elected president, strengthened her lead over Trump in polls after the release last month of a 2005 video in which the Republican bragged in vulgar terms about groping women.

But in a dramatic twist, Comey told Congress in a letter on Friday that the FBI was reviewing the newly discovered emails.

Comey had announced in July that the FBI had completed a probe into the email practices, concluding there were no grounds to bring any charges.

Clinton's team has been pressing the FBI to provide details on the new trove of emails, which Comey said may or may not be significant in the case.

Little is publicly known yet about the emails, other than that they were found during an unrelated probe into former U.S. Representative Anthony Weiner, the estranged husband of top Clinton aide Huma Abedin.

Comey's letter has provided Republicans with fresh fodder for attack in the waning days of the campaign. U.S. House of Representatives Speaker Paul Ryan said on Tuesday that a Clinton presidency would bog down in "scandal baggage."

Congressional Republicans, who had been concerned Trump risked damaging their majorities in the House and Senate, were also encouraged by his recent statements on efforts to repeal the Affordable Care Act, popularly known as Obamacare. A campaign aide said if Trump wins, he would ask Congress to begin working on legislation to repeal the law before the Jan. 20 inauguration.

Former President Jonathan drops fresh bombshell - I will reveal the truth about Dasukigate

Former President Jonathan drops fresh bombshell - I will reveal the truth about Dasukigate

All is now set for Nigeria’s former President, Dr. Goodluck Jonathan, to appear in the ongoing trial of his former NSA, Col Dasuki, to testify in favour of the former NSA. He had earlier faulted the charges slammed on Dasuki, claiming that the ex-NSA could not have stolen $2.2billion.

He was quoted to have said, “We bought warships, we bought aircraft, and we bought lots of weapons for the army. It’s not possible that he stole $2.1 billion.”

The ex-NSA’s counsel, Mr. Ahmed Raji (SAN), said Tuesday that, “Dr. Goodluck Jonathan will testify in court. He is one of those who will testify and that the statement he made in London appears to be the first phase of the war chest of the ex-NSA.”

“You know the ex-NSA said he acted on Jonathan’s instructions in disbursing some of the cash, and from the look of things, the ex-President is now ready to accept responsibility for whatever Dasuki did. So far, we have secured the consent of Jonathan to appear in court for Dasuki.

This will make the trial worth it.” He also said, “Dasuki has a list of highly-placed beneficiaries from the arms cash. A particular traditional ruler got about N500million as a gift from the government through the Office of NSA

There are many hidden beneficiaries whom Nigerians must know. Nigerians will be shocked by some revelations. Nothing short of open trial will let Nigerians know the truth. We are ready for this.”

Student accused of plagiarism by professor for using the word 'Hence'

Student accused of plagiarism by professor for using the word 'Hence'

A student of Suffok University, Tiffany Martinez has been accused of plagiarizing her paper by her sociology professor because she used the word 'Hence' According to her, on Thursday morning in class, her professor handed her paper back to her and said loudly in front of the class 'This is not your language'

The professor circled the word 'hence' on her paper and wrote 'this is not your word' and also underlined 'not' severally. on the top part of the paper she wrote 'please go back and indicate here you cut and paste from'

Student accused of plagiarism by professor for using the word 'Hence'

Tiffany Martinez who shared the story on a blogpost titled 'Academia, Love Me Back' said she was humiliated and that the issue is indicative of a larger problem.

According to her, her last name and appearance instill stereotyping even before she utters any word.

'My last name and appearance immediately instills a set of biases before I have the chance to open my mouth. As a minority in my classrooms, I continuously hear my peers and professors use language that both covertly and overtly oppresses the communities I belong to. Therefore, I do not always feel safe when I attempt to advocate for my people in these spaces,' she said.

Martinez further stated that the comment from her professor made her question her work which caused her to spend the entire class going through the paper which knew she didn't plagiarize.

She said she now questions her career path which is to become a professor.

"It is worth repeating how my professor assumed I could not use the word “hence,” a simple transitory word that connected two relating statements. The professor assumed I could not produce quality research. The professor read a few pages that reflected my comprehension of complex sociological theories and terms and invalidated it all. I am hurting because for a brief moment I believed them,' she wrote in the blogpost."The university has reacted to the story saying the case is currently under investigation.

Venezuela opposition scraps Maduro trial but presses demands

Venezuela opposition scraps Maduro trial but presses demands
Venezuela freed four activists and the opposition postponed a symbolic trial in congress of President Nicolas Maduro on Tuesday even as it warned it would quit Vatican-backed talks in a matter of days if tough conditions were not met.

Maduro met with opposition leaders on Sunday for the start of talks to ease a political standoff between the ruling Socialist Party and the opposition-led parliament during a spiraling economic crisis.

As well as suspending its parliamentary proceedings against Maduro, the opposition also agreed to postpone a march planned for Thursday to the presidential palace that the government had described as part of a coup plot.

But it demanded that the government release around 100 jailed opposition activists and bring forward the next presidential election - conditions that are likely to meet with significant resistance from government leaders.

Venezuela's next presidential election is due in late 2018.

"We have put these points on the table, not so that they can be addressed in months but rather in the coming days and weeks," said opposition legislative leader Julio Borges during Tuesday's session. "Otherwise, we will walk away from the negotiating table and continue with our struggle."

Without concrete progress, Borges said, the opposition would reopen the political trial and resume protests. Hundreds of thousands of people took to the streets last week in demonstrations that left dozens arrested and wounded.

Maduro's adversaries accuse him of creating a dictatorship by leaning on compliant institutions to block the recall referendum and sideline the National Assembly.

The Socialist Party lost control of the legislature in a landslide election in 2015 that was driven primarily by voter outrage over triple-digit inflation and widespread product shortages that have left many unable to eat three meals per day.

Maduro insists economic troubles are the result of an "economic war" imposed by hostile businessmen with the help of Venezuela's ideological adversaries in Washington.

The two sides have held repeated dialogue processes over the years that have generally started with harmonious meetings but quickly reverted to the acrimonious exchange of insults that has characterized Venezuelan politics for more than a decade.

Maduro in a televised broadcast on Tuesday made some overtures to the opposition celebrating the start of the dialogue. But he later lambasted opposition party Popular Will, which was founded by jailed opposition leader Leopoldo Lopez and did not join the dialogue proceedings, as terrorists.

"(The party) is a terrorist group that operates outside the law. I hope that the courts take up this matter," Maduro said. "As head of state, I support all decisions to make this group of terrorists pay."

Opposition coalition leader Jesus Torrealba, who shook hands with Maduro at the opening of talks on Sunday, described the comments as an assault on the dialogue process and a sign of disrespect toward the Pope.

Many in the opposition have called the dialogue a stalling tactic and insist Maduro has no intention of allowing a referendum or an early presidential vote.

Authorities on Monday night freed three activists - Carlos Melo, Andres Moreno and Marco Trejo.

Moreno and Trejo spent a month in jail, accused of damaging military morale in a political propaganda video that showed a soldier suffering the same economic hardships as protesters.

The opposition's coalition on Tuesday said authorities had also released Coromoto Rodriguez, head of security for the legislature who was arrested during an opposition rally in May.

Government critics had said the detention was illegal and called it an effort to intimidate the legislature.

Investigations of the activists will continue, the government says. The three deny the charges.

As well as the Vatican, three former heads of state from Panama, Dominican Republic and Spain plus the regional bloc Unasur are trying to foster dialogue in Venezuela.

Senior U.S. diplomat Tom Shannon is also in Caracas and met with Maduro on Monday to try and support the talks.

Having narrowly won election in 2013 to replace Hugo Chavez, who died of cancer, Maduro has seen his popularity plummet, largely due to the OPEC nation's unprecedented economic crisis.

United Nation sacks South Sudan peacekeeping chief over damning report

UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon has sacked the commander of the UN force in South Sudan after a report said it had failed to protect civilians in July.

The report backed claims by aid workers that the UN troops refused to respond when government soldiers attacked an international aid compound in Juba.

In the fighting between the army and former rebels, a local journalist was killed and aid workers were raped.

The clashes derailed efforts to form a unity government and end the civil war.

The fighting began with clashes between President Salva Kiir's guards and bodyguards of the sacked Vice-President Riek Machar.

'Chaotic response'

Mr Ban "has asked for the immediate replacement of the force commander" Kenyan Lt Gen Johnson Mogoa Kimani Ondieki, UN spokesman Stephane Dujarric announced on Monday.

The independent special investigation into the violence on 8-11 July in South Sudan's capital was commissioned by the UN.

In three days of fighting, at least 73 people were killed, including more than 20 internally displaced people who had sought UN protection. Two peacekeepers also died.

Among the targets of the attack by government troops were a UN peacekeeping base, known as UN House, and the nearby Terrain Camp.

Memorise: Thus saith the Lord; cursed be the man that trusteth in man, and maketh flesh his arm and whose heart departed from the Lord. Jeremiah 17:5

Read: Romans 1:28-32 (KJV)

28 And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not convenient;

29 Being filled with all unrighteousness, fornication, wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness; full of envy, murder, debate, deceit, malignity; whisperers,

30 Backbiters, haters of God, despiteful, proud, boasters, inventors of evil things, disobedient to parents,

31 Without understanding, covenant breakers, without natural affection, implacable, unmerciful:

32 Who knowing the judgment of God, that they which commit such things are worthy of death, not only do the same, but have pleasure in them that do them.

Bible in one year: Revelations 3:14-7:17, Psalms 92

The situation around us today requires quick intervention because the society is becoming unsafe due to emerging trends. There are many people rising up in many quarters, questioning the rationality of looking unto God.They hate the idea of putting God at the centre of human knowledge and existence. They question the efficacy of God’s knowledge and authority, and this is making the love of some believers wax cold. Haters of God are those who put the fear of man over and above the fear of God. They believe more in the inventions of man than in the creation of God. They are those who rely in their vain imagination rather than the absolute truth of God. They prefer to stay away from God and His house because they don’t want His truth to locate them. They prefer to use their wisdom to solve their problems rather than find solution in Christ alone. When they are in trouble, the first thing on their minds is running to the wrong place for solution, which eventually compounds their problem.

Looking up to a man when one should trust God can be a very futile endeavour. Those who put their confidence in man will always end up with frustrating experiences. If you keep to God He will keep you in perfect peace. There are many people who have no experience of what the Peace of God is. May this never be your portion in Jesus’ name.

Haters of God allow their hearts to be dominated by impure thoughts. They allow demons to control their hearts, and this is why they find it impossible to experience the Peace of God. You can make up your mind this day to be a lover of God.

Those who hate God will never know the peace of God. Don’t allow the power of hell to dominate your life. Every place of activity through which evil ideas come into your life must be avoided. Separate yourself totally from those things separating you from the blessings of God. Keep a distance from those negative connections and influences that lure you into evil including internet views and impure television programmes. Stop feeding your eyes with lust including items and materials. Don’t give yourself further to those things that will attract the wrath of God upon your life, things such as masturbation, fornication, incest, rape, same sex relationship, occultism, and pornography.

Through the power of God, you can dominate these evil practices that keep you away from the grace of God.

Prayer Point:
Father, please give me the grace to please you

TOPIC: He Opened the Way

Key Verses: In the beginning [before all time] was the Word (Christ), and the Word was with God, and the Word was God Himself.... And the Word (Christ) became flesh (human, incarnate) and tabernacled (fixed His tent of flesh, lived awhile) among us....John 1:1,14, The Amplified Bible

The deity of the Lord Jesus Christ is something that can never be brought into question by any born-again believer. Our very salvation rests on the fact that Jesus Christ is divine, the second person of the Godhead, God—the Son.

The beloved disciple and apostle, John, forever puts to rest any doubt about that in John 1:1,14. Anyone who doubts what those verses say could not possibly have been born of the kingdom of God. For the deity of Jesus forms the very foundation of our faith in Him.

Yet, if you'll search the Gospels, you'll see that Jesus didn't go around proclaiming Himself as God during His 33 years on earth. He acknowledged that He was the Son of God, the Messiah. He referred to God as His Father (which enraged the Pharisees), but He never made the assertion that He was the Most High God. In fact, He told His disciples that the Father God was greater and mightier than He (John 14:28).

The reason is simple. He hadn't come to earth just as God. He'd come also as man. The Word says He set aside His divine power and took the form of a human being—with all its limitations. Since God was His Father, He was not born with the sin nature that had been passed along to the sons of Adam. But by being born of a woman, in all other respects He became a man and called Himself the Son of Man or, literally, the Son of Adam.

How, then, did He do all those mighty works? The same way He expects us to do them today—by the Anointing and the power of the Holy Spirit (Acts 10:38). He said, "It's the Father within Me who does the work."

What does that mean to you? It means that Jesus meant exactly what He declared when He said that you, as a believer, would be able to do the works that He did (John 14:12)!

It means that you, as a reborn child of God, filled with the same Holy Spirit as Jesus was, have the opportunity to live as He lived when He was on earth.

In fact, that is exactly what He intends. He went before you, as a man, and opened the way. Don't just admire Him for it. Follow Him in it today!

Key Verse: There is a friend that sticketh closer than a brother. - Proverbs 18:24

How many lonely people there are today! God did not create man to live in miserable inner loneliness. In that first Eden, God Himself came down to keep the man He had made from being lonely.

One of the most heartening things Jesus said to His disciples was, “Lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world” (Matthew 28:20). He came to restore fellowship between man and God, and to take away human loneliness. Jesus Christ will take away loneliness from your soul. He will be your companion and friend.

Prayer for the day:
You want to fill all the lonely moments, Lord, and turn them into times of incredible delight. May I never fear loneliness again.

Divine Preservation - Dr. Paul Enenche

TOPIC: Divine Preservation

SCRIPTURE: He suffered no man to do them wrong: yea, he reproved kings for their sakes; Saying, Touch not mine anointed, and do my prophets no harm. Psalm 105:14-15
THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: To serve God is to be saved by God; to serve God is to be safe in life.
Preservation can be defined as the act of keeping or protecting something/somebody from loss, danger or harm. So, the keeping of the children of God from danger and harm by God is called Divine preservation.
God is a Specialist in the preservation of His children. The Most High God is interested in the welfare of His people. To be called by God is to be preserved by God. The Caller is also the Preserver.
What then are the keys to Divine Preservation?
1.Upright living: To be upright is to end right up, far above the reach of the enemy. Righteousness takes you to the realm that is out of reach for any harm.
2.Dwelling in God’s Presence: The secret place of God is the safest place for a man’s life.
3.Kingdom assignment: You cannot carry out an ambassadorial assignment and not have diplomatic immunity. To serve God is to be saved by God; to serve God is to be safe in life.
I prophesy on you: in this month of November, no devil will cut your life short. Both you and your loved ones are preserved in Jesus’ Name
Remember This: To serve God is to be saved by God; to serve God is to be safe in life.
1. Determine to live a life devoid of iniquity and compromise.
2. Whatever keeps you away from God’s Presence is an enemy of your preservation; fight it.
3. Be dedicatedly involved in Kingdom assignment especially evangelism.
PRAYER: LORD, I thank You for Your Word to me today. I connect to Your preservation power for the safety of my life, family and destiny, LORD, in Jesus’ Name.
DAILY READING: Ezekiel 3:16 to 6:14, Hebrews 4:1 to 16, Psalm 104:24 to 35, Proverbs 26:27
