Porn addiction, stress and his record label drama: Will Young's devastating struggles as he quits Strictly

Will Young with his dance partner Karen Clifton
Will Young sensationally quit Strictly Come Dancing last night - despite planning to use the show to help his music career comeback.

The Pop Idol star, who was slammed by Simon Cowell after beating Gareth Gates on the show 14 years ago, was dropped by Island Records after just one album, and he's now pulled out of Strictly citing "personal reasons".

He emerged today looking down in the dumps as he took his two dogs for a solo walk in the park in London, but told Chris Evans on Radio 2 that he's "dandy" and the situation was very undramatic.

It was revealed back in August that he'd been dumped by the label, but he continued to perform at concerts around the country and was hoping to kick-start his career by appearing on the BBC talent show.

The Sun reported that it was a surprising decision for the pair to part ways after his sixth album, 85 per cent Proof, was a chart success as it hit the number one spot.

A source told the publication at the time: "The deal with Island came to a natural end and he's self-released his new Summer Covers EP.

                                       Chanelle Hayes
Chanelle Hayes has hit out at body-shamers over the past few months, as she opened up about her recent weight gain.

And she didn't let the cruel comments get her down on a recent sun-soaked break in Spain.

The former Big Brother star stripped down to a VERY skimpy black bikini as she sunbathed by the pool last week, showing off her curves as she dipped her legs in the water.

With her hair scraped back and no make-up, the star went au natural for the relaxed day out.

Islamic State claims responsibility for deadly mosque attack in Afghan capital

Islamic State claims responsibility for deadly mosque attack in Afghan capital
Islamic State on Wednesday claimed responsibility for a mass shooting that killed at least 18 worshippers at a shrine in the Afghan capital, raising fears of sectarian violence after a string of attacks on the country's Shi'ite minority.

The claim to Tuesday's attack, released online, came as the community observed Ashura, one of its holiest days, although commemorations have been subdued because of security fears.
On Wednesday afternoon, an explosion outside a mosque in northern Afghanistan killed at least 14 people and wounded 24 at a similar gathering. There was no immediate claim of responsibility for that assault.

Islamic State had earlier targeted members of Kabul's Shi'ite community in a suicide bombing in July that killed more than 80 people and wounded 130.

The attacker in Kabul, said to be wearing a police uniform, entered the Karte Shakhi mosque on Tuesday night and opened fire on a crowd of Shi'ite Muslims marking Ashura, which commemorates the seventh-century death of a grandson of the prophet Mohammad.

In its statement, Islamic State said the attacker detonated a suicide vest after firing all his ammunition, but security forces said they shot the man.

A Reuters video shows the suspected attacker's body intact, with no sign of an explosive vest.

Relatives carried dead and wounded victims away from the blood-stained steps of the mosque, which is known for its bright blue tiles and domes.

The dead included four women and two children, said the United Nations, which condemned the attack as a violation of international law.

"This attack, deliberately targeting a large group of civilians exercising their right to freely manifest their religion in worship, observance and practice, is an atrocity," the U.N. said in a statement.

It put the tally at 18 civilians killed and 50 wounded, though some witnesses said the toll could be higher.

Mourners buried several of the victims, including a four-year-old girl, on Wednesday.

"We are not happy with the government and the police. They both failed to protect us and provide security for us," said one of the girl's relatives, Mohammed Hussain, who described the event as "doomsday" for the family.

Ashura is typically marked by processions that include self-flagellation by some worshippers, but government warnings of possible attacks prompted more subdued events this year.

The Taliban, who have been waging a 15-year insurgency against the Western-backed government and often conduct attacks in Kabul, denied involvement in the shooting.

The schism between Sunnis and Shi'ites developed after the Prophet Mohammad died in 632 and his followers could not agree on a successor. Some Sunni Muslim militants see Shi'ites as a threat and legitimate targets for attack.

Singer Chris Brown predicted Rihanna and Drake's break up

Chris Brown "knew" Rihanna 's relationship with Drake wouldn't last.

The Work hitmaker and the Hotline Bling musician called time on their romance just months after they went public, and Chris - who dated the 28-year-old singer from 2007-2009, and briefly in 2013 - thinks their split is because Drake, 29, is a "boring mama's boy".

A source close to the 27-year-old singer told "[Chris Brown] knew it wouldn't last. No diss to Drake but he ain't man enough for Rihanna.

"He's not edgy and when you peel back all his sweet BS lines and charm you see the real Drake: a boring mama's boy."

Man's chilling google searches before he murdered a bride-to-be - Court

In a disturbing murder case from New South Wales, Australia, it's been revealed that killer Vincent Stanford searched Google for terms including "bride rape" and "bride kidnapping" before he murdered school teacher and bride-to-be Stephanie Scott just days before her wedding.

Stanford had worked as a casual cleaner at a number of schools in the area, including Leeton High School, where 26-year-old Stephanie had worked as a drama teacher. According to court documents, he started acting suspiciously, hanging around at the school over weekends in the weeks before he murdered Ms Scott in April last year when he wasn't required to be there. Stanford was also reportedly sighted loitering near the girls' toilets at the school during another time he wasn't working.

But Stanford's murderous fantasies became real on Easter Sunday last year, when he'd spotted Stephanie at the school where she had gone to plan lessons for a supply teacher who was looking after her class while she was away getting married to her partner of five years, Aaron Leeson-Woolley.

Explaining how he killed her, Stanford told police that he picked Stephanie up from behind after she wished him a happy Easter. He confessed to dragging her into a store room with a hand over her mouth before he beat her 30 or 40 times until she died.

"I did it at the high school...I beat her to death," he said. "I had to kill her. I wasn't angry or anything. Basically emotionless. Just that I had to kill her."

With no apparent explanation as to why he murdered Ms Scott, Stanford said: "I think I went a little nuts. I think I needed to see a psychiatrist but I didn't."

Kim Kardashian West sues over claims she faked robbery

Kim Kardashian West sues over claims she faked robbery
US reality TV star Kim Kardashian West is suing a celebrity gossip website for claiming that she faked being the victim of a robbery in Paris last week.

The lawsuit seeks unspecified damages for defamation and names both the site, MediaTakeout, and its founder, Fred Mwangaguhunga.

The star was tied up by gun-wielding robbers who broke into a Paris flat earlier this month, police say.

They made off with jewellery worth about $10m (£8m).

The lawsuit filed in federal court in New York said that after being "the victim of a horrific and traumatic armed robbery in France, Kim Kardashian returned to the US only to again be victimised, but this time by an online gossip tabloid that published a series of articles in early October 2016 referring to her as a liar and thief".

The articles, it said, "claimed, without any factual support whatsoever, that Kardashian faked the robbery, lied about the violent assault, and then filed a fraudulent claim with her insurance company to bilk her carrier out of millions of dollars".

Mr Mwangaguhunga refused to publish a retraction and an apology "for calling her a liar and a criminal", the lawsuit added.

MediaTakeout has so far not commented.

The 35-year-old mother-of-two, who is married to rapper Kanye West, became a household name thanks to the reality TV series Keeping up with the Kardashians.

Nigerian Minister Disgraces President Buhari

President Buhari shakes hands with the Minister of Budget and Planning Udo Udoma
ABUJA, NIGERIA - Udoma Udo Udoma, Minister of Budget and National Planning, during the 22nd Nigerian Economic Summit holding place in Abuja on October 10, disgraced the incumbent government when he was asked about country’s total debt profile.

The minister was answered to questions posed at him during a panel discussion.

Zain Asher, a CNN journalist, asked Minister Udoma to name the specific figure of Nigeria’s debt profile.

“How much is Nigeria’s total debt?” a journalist asked. The minister in his response said: “I can’t tell you the exact figure. I will have to get back to you on that.”

“But you are the minister of budget”, Asher added.

However, later Mr. Udoma answered by saying that different committees were saddled with the responsibility of assembling Nigeria’s debt and as such, he could not give an exact figure.

The audience wooed the minister for his response.

The Debt Management Office was established to centrally coordinate the management of Nigeria’s debt, which was hitherto being done by a myriad of establishments in an uncoordinated fashion.

The data of the Nigeria’s debt is presented on its site and is open for everybody who is interested in.

According to the recent data released by the Debt Management office, Nigeria’s debt profile has risen by 4.17 trillion naira representing 34.41% under President Muhammadu Buhari.

Nigerian Senate had in September called for the sack of Minister of Budget and National Planning, Udoma Udo Udoma for lacking the essential expertise and professional qualifications in managing the economy.

Governor attacks President Buhari, says 'return Anambra's N43bn'

                                  Chief Willie Obiano
NIGERIA - The Anambra State Governor, Chief Willie Obiano, on Tuesday, urged the President Muhammadu Buhari-led Federal Government to refund the N43bn the state spent on the rehabilitation of federal roads.

The governor said the reimbursement was necessary to facilitate the rehabilitation of more federal roads in the state, which were in deplorable conditions.

The governor, who spoke through his Commissioner for Information and Communication Strategy, Mr. Tony Nnacheta, after an executive council meeting, said withholding the money had incapacitated the state from rehabilitating more federal roads.

He said, “The total sum we expended on federal roads in the state was N48bn. But on their own, the Federal Government worked it out and arrived at N43bn.

“We agreed and asked them to pay us but nothing has come from them. This has made us to stop the rehabilitation of federal roads in the state.

“We need this money to enable us to do more federal roads in the state because our people are suffering because of the state of federal roads in the state.”

He said the stretch of the Onitsha-Enugu Expressway along Umunya community had remained a deathtrap because the state could not repair it on behalf of the federal government.

The governor, who described the Onitsha-Enugu Road as strategic, maintained that the volume of traffic on the road from other parts of the country reflected its socio economic importance.

He said the government would commence on the construction of streetlights in the cities of the state in order to give them a befitting look.

Tension as 501 sacked soldiers prepares to join ISIS, Boko haram

There is a growing concern following agitation by some 501 sacked Army recruits who are threatened to join terrorist groups like ISIS or Boko Haram.

According to Ghana Web, the threat comes after what the soldiers have termed an unfair treatment after they were unceremoniously dumped out of boot camp.

The recruits said even though some of their colleagues were found wanting by the instructors, they had never claimed the training was too difficult as claimed by the leadership of the training school, the basis for which they were sent home.

Convener of the recruits Frank Antwi, in an interview with Adom News said though they could not complete their training, the training they had before the unfortunate dismissal from the training school is enough to qualify them to be recruited into ISIS or Boko Haram unless they are recalled into the training school.

They believe they qualified but have been dismissed wrongly as a result of other considerations instead of their inability to complete the required training.

But a Security Expert and Assistant Director at the New York University, Dr Nicholas Nii Okine has condemned the threat and recommended that National Peace Council and the intelligence agencies step in.

He is suggesting counseling and mini reintegration process to re-tool them to perform other duties for the state, cautioning that this threat if not managed could be disastrous.

Heroic Syrian refugees 'turn down £1,000 bribe and tie up most wanted terrorist

This is the astonishing moment three Syrian refugees found one of the world's most wanted terror suspects.

Jaber Albakr, 22, was named as the prime suspect by police in German over an alleged ISIS-backed plot to bomb an airport.

A SWAT team raided a flat in Chemnitz, eastern Germany, on Saturday morning and found 1.5kilos of explosives and an almost-complete suicide vest.

But the terrorist had already fled, forcing police to conduct a frenzied international manhunt.

But on Sunday evening, police in Leipzig received a call to tell them they had suspect Albakr handcuffed and ready for collection.

According to German newspaper Bild, Albakr had posted in a Facebook group for Syrian refugees asking for a place to stay.

Three young men took him in but became suspicious when he asked for a haircut. More

President Obama attacks Donald Trump, 'unfit to become president'

US election: Obama urges Republicans to shun Trump

US President Barack Obama has urged senior Republicans to formally withdraw their endorsement of Donald Trump as their presidential candidate.

At a rally in support of Democratic contender Hillary Clinton, Mr Obama said it didn't make sense to denounce Mr Trump's controversial remarks while still backing him for the White House.

Many top Republicans have distanced themselves from Mr Trump over a video in which he boasts of groping women.

Mr Trump accused them of disloyalty.

He was particularly scathing about House Speaker Paul Ryan whom he described as a "weak and ineffective" leader.
A protesters yells as US President Barack Obama speaks during a Hillary Clinton campaign rally in Greensboro, North Carolina. 11 October 2016
Addressing a campaign rally in Greensboro, North Carolina, on Tuesday evening, Mr Obama questioned how senior Republican politicians could still want Mr Trump to be president.

"The fact is that now you've got people saying: 'We strongly disagree, we really disapprove... but we're still endorsing him.' They still think he should be president, that doesn't make sense to me," he told the crowd.

Mr Obama said Mr Trump's crude comments about women would disqualify him from even working in a shop.

"Now you find a situation in which the guy says stuff that nobody would find tolerable if they were applying for a job at 7-Eleven," he said.

Mr Obama was interrupted several times by anti-Clinton campaigners but seemed unfazed, saying: "This is democracy at work. This is great,"

The hecklers were escorted from the venue by security officials.

Video: Khloe Kardashian finally speaks about Kim after the Paris robbery

Khloe Kardashian finally publicly opened up about her older sister, Kim Kardashian's armed robbery attack in Paris. She appeared on Ellen DeGeneres Show where she said Kim is 'not doing that well' nine days after the robbery attack in Paris.
She added:

'I mean, it's incredibly traumatic what happened to her.' 'But our family is super close and great and we'll get through it together,' she continued, 'and we do appreciate all of your guys' love and support and it will take time.' 'You know, it was horrible what happened to her.'She also said that this incident has made them reevaluate their social media presence.

DeGeneres pointed to the fact that the family has been unusually quiet on social media, and Khloe said the change was purposeful.
"I think it’s just a wake-up call to make a lot of life adjustments," she said. "This is a really serious matter for Kim."
Although Khloe does not provide more detail about the aftermath of the break-in, she said her family members are all willing to “pull back a little bit” on their visibility in order to make sure their sister is okay.

Kevin Hart also chipped in:
"A good thing about the Kardashians, regardless of what happens, is that they put those pieces of the puzzle together, and they overcome their problems."

UNBELIEVABLE: Rolls Royce, 14 cars found in a judge’s house as others confess (photo

The interior of a Rolls Royce
When officials of the Department of State Services (DSS) stormed the official residence of one of the seven judges raided recently, they found a fleet of 15 exotic cars including a Rolls Royce.

Rolls-Royce Limited is a British car-manufacturing and, later, aero-engine manufacturing company founded by Charles Stewart Rolls and Sir Frederick Henry Royce on 15 March 1906 as a result of a partnership formed in 1904.

Its latest cars cost at least over N100 million depending on the brand and the exchange rate of the naira to a dollar.

The same judge whose name is being shielded, according to The Nation, reportedly  was said to have hired a notable construction firm to build his palatial home. He also imported furniture from Brazil, Argentina and Spain.

Judges are supposed to be public servants with salaries also determined by the rules, but this particular judge is said to be proud of his property as he once conducted his colleagues round the mansion.

“Operatives have discovered that one of the judges owns a mansion which was contracted to a construction firm at a huge cost. In fact, the judge imported furniture from Brazil, Argentina and Spain.

“At a stage, he conducted his ‘poor colleagues’ round the mansion in an open display of affluence. The judge has about 15 cars, including a Rolls Royce. This Rolls Royce was imported.

“During interrogation, another judge told DSS team that he did not know how and when N18 million was lodged in his account because he was not getting alert from his bank. But we have evidence of withdrawals from the account.

“We have retrieved the assets declaration forms of these judges. It was shocking that one of them has three asset declaration forms with different dates of birth,” the report quoted a source as saying.

In his confessional statement, one of the seven judges arrested reportedly told the DSS that he did not know how N18 million got into his account. He also denied getting an alert that would have made him complain to the bank.

One other judge said the money found in his account was an accumulated medical allowance.

While the judges have continued to make useful information to the operatives, the government seems to have foreclosed their return to their profession as it is believed they cannot be facing trial and still be in the adjudicating cases.

In a string operation recently, the secret operatives stormed the homes of Justices Sylvester Ngwuta and Inyang Okoro, the suspended presiding justice of the Court of Appeal, Ilorin division, Justice Mohammed Ladan Tsamiya, who was picked up in Sokoto; Justice Adeniyi Ademola (Federal High Court); the Chief Judge of Enugu state, Justice I. A. Umezulike; Justice Kabiru Auta of Kano state High Court; and Justice Muazu Pindiga (Gombe state High Court).

The source further told disclosed that the government has asked the National Judicial Council (NJC) to suspend the affected judges pending the outcome of their trial.

“The position of the government is that none of these judges will be allowed back to the bench in the interest of the nation’s Judiciary. They cannot be arraigned in the dock and at the same time be adjudicating or attending to cases.

“It is left to the NJC to allow the affected judges to keep off the bench until their fate is determined. But certainly, they will face trial and the outcome will determine whether or not they will be retired or dismissed.

“We are expecting the NJC to do the needful by suspending the judges,” he said.

Sex scandal: House clears three Reps of misconduct

Speaker, House of Representatives, Mr. Yakubu Dogara

ABUJA, NIGERIA - The House of Representatives on Tuesday cleared three of its members of the sexual misconduct allegations levelled against them by a former United States Ambassador to Nigeria, Mr. James Entwistle.

Those accused are House Deputy Chairman, Committee on Petroleum Resources (Upstream), Mr. Terse Mark-Gbillah (APC, Benue); Mr. Samuel Ikon (PDP, Akwa Ibom); and Mr. Mohammed Garba-Gololo (APC, Bauchi).

The US authorities had accused the three senators of committing the alleged misconduct during a leadership training visit to the US last April, prompting the House to call for an investigation.

Its Joint Committees on Ethics/Privileges and Foreign Relations had conducted the investigation.

The committees were jointly chaired by Mr. Nicholas Ossai and Ms. Nnena Ukeje.

The tide of the allegations changed in favour of Mark-Gbillah, Garba-Gololo and Ikon after the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Geoffrey Onyeama, appeared before the committees on July 21 to testify that the US did not produce any concrete evidence to prove the allegations.

Entwistle too failed to appear before the committees while a female maid in a US HOTEL, who alleged that Garba-Gololo “grabbed” her, also declined to testify.

A report of the committees, which was considered and approved by the House in Abuja on Tuesday, cleared the members of any wrongdoing in the US.

The report made three recommendations to the session, which was presided over by the Deputy Speaker, Mr. Yussuff Lasun.

It read, “That Hon. Mohammed Garba Gololo, Hon. Mark Terseer Gbillah and Hon. Samuel Ikon are cleared of and exonerated from the allegations levelled against them by the United States Ambassador to Nigeria in his June 9, 2016 letter to the Rt. Hon. Speaker for want of evidence.

“That in the light of the foregoing, the Hon. Minister of Foreign Affairs do engage with the United States Ambassador to Nigeria, with a view to finding a seamless resolution of the domestic fallout of this unfortunate incident as it relates to Hon. Mohammed Garba-Gololo, Hon. Mark Terseer Gbillah and Hon. Samuel Ikon.

“That the Ministry of Foreign Affairs do write to remind the United States Embassy of the need to always adopt the official channel of communications in its dealings with any organ or institution of government.”

The House adopted all three recommendations soon after Ossai briefed members on the findings of the investigation.

Nigerian Senate President condemns DSS’ unlawful method of arresting Justices

Bukola Saraki
Senate President, Bukola Saraki has spoken out on the arrest of judges by the Department of State Services (DSS).

The judges were arrested between Friday, October 7, and Saturday, October 8, in various states of the country.

Saraki made his comments during the Senate’s plenary session on Tuesday, October 11.

“SP, @bukolasaraki also acknowledged that the judiciary needs to be sanitized but condemns the unlawful mode of arrest,” a post from the Senate’s Twitter handle read.

SP, @bukolasaraki also acknowledged that the judiciary needs to be sanitized but condemns the unlawful mode of arrest.

“Any anti-corruption action that goes against the rule of law does not help the fight against corruption,” it added.

The DSS earlier announced that it had recovered about $800,000 from three judges during the raid.
The judges involved are: Sylvester Ngwuta and Inyang Okoro of the Supreme Court; Mohammed Tsamiya of the Appeal Court; Adeniyi Ademola and Muazu Pindiga of the Federal High Court; Innocent Umezulike who is the Chief Judge of Enugu State and Kabir Auta of the Kano State High Court.
The accused persons have been released by the DSS on bail.

Man tortured, sister gang-raped for refusing to convert to Islam

                              muslims kill christians
A gang of Mulsim men kidnapped two young Christian siblings for their unwillingness to turn to Islam in a small village in Kasur, Pakistan.

According to the British Pakistani Christian Association, their relatives were repeatedly intimidated by the gang members who threatened them with guns, sticks and metal poles.

Last week the Muslims broke into their family mud house and took away Arif and his sister Jameel after they refused to accept Islam or die.

Both brother and sister were tortured and Arif was forced to listen to his sister’s screams as she was gang raped in a next room.

The next morning the 20-year-old man somehow managed to get rid of the shackles and return to his family.

Unfortunately, Jameela, aged 17, wasn’t able to escape and she remains missing.

Wilson Chowdry, the chairman of the British Pakistani Christian Association said: “We will now begin the arduous task of helping them rebuild their lives in an atmosphere of safety.

However, the captured daughter Jameela may well never be found and her malicious kidnap is causing great anguish and despair.”

Local police reportedly refused to investigate the case and the family are deeply traumatised.

Italy withdraws Rome 2024 Olympic Games bid

Italy's Olympic Committee chief Giovanni Malago wipes his tears at the end of his speech
Italy's Olympic Committee has officially withdrawn its bid to stage the 2024 Games in Rome after the city council voted to oppose the candidacy.

Rome's Mayor Virginia Raggi from the populist Five Star party had said the city had to prioritise matters such as rubbish collection and corruption.

It means only Paris, Los Angeles and Budapest are left in the running after Boston and Hamburg also abandoned bids.

The International Olympic Committee is due to make a decision next September.

Committee chief Giovanni Malago said the decision meant Italy had been "made to look like fools" and would miss out on investment.
Tourists stand next to a bin overflowing with waste in front of the Ancient Pantheon, in central Rome on July 27, 2015
However, the Five Star party had repeatedly said it opposed bidding for the Games before winning control of Rome in June.

The Italian government had supported the bid and the broader Rome municipality, which includes many other small town councils, had indicated it would support the bid to overcome Five Star's opposition.

But Mr Malago said he would not go ahead without the main city council's backing.

Rome also applied to host the 2020 Olympics but pulled out of that race in 2012 because then prime minister Mario Monti feared Italy could not afford it.

We are dying of hunger, pensioners begs Gov. Rochas Okorocha

We are starving, pensioners tell Okorocha

IMO STATE, NIGERIA - Retired civil servants in Imo State operating on the platform of Retired Permanent Secretaries have accused Governor Rochas Okorocha of subjecting the members of the body to starvation.

The group said the refusal of the state government to pay pensioners their 70-month arrears had made them to undergo dehumanising situations.

The Chairman of the group, Hyacinth Onyekwere, said that contrary to the claim by the government, only 70 per cent of one month arrear had been paid to the state’s pensioners.

Onyekwere, who addressed a news conference in Owerri, on Tuesday, said the inability of the government to pay Imo pensioners their arrears had resulted in starvation and sickness.

He said the pensioners could no longer afford to buy drugs for their ailments.

“Most pensioners are now subjected to untold hardship. Many of us are now unable to meet our statutory obligations such as the renewal of our vehicle licences. We cannot afford to pay for the social amenities we enjoy. We are starving. We are traumatised on a daily basis. We are dehumanised daily,” he said.

He said that the non-payment of pensions had drastically reduced the circulation of money into the economy of the state, adding that that this had compounded the problems of poverty, starvation and unemployment in the state.

“All we are saying is for the Imo State Government to pay our pensions as and when due to save our lives and those of our dependants. The payment of pensions is, by law, the responsibility of the offices of the Head of Service and the Accountant General of the state. But in Imo State, the case is different. This is why many pensioners were neither listed on the payroll accurately nor paid,” the retiree lamented.

Syria conflict: Heavy air strikes resume on Aleppo

Pro-Syrian government soldiers advance in Aleppo's rebel-held neighbourhoods
Russian planes have resumed air strikes on rebel-held districts in the city of Aleppo, in what activists say is the heaviest bombardment in days.

At least 25 people are reported to have died, including children.

The bombardment follows a temporary lull called by the Syrian government, partly to allow civilians to leave rebel areas in the east of the city.

It has come under intense aerial attack since a ceasefire brokered by the US and Russia collapsed last month.

The air strikes came as Russian President Vladimir Putin cancelled a planned visit to France.

He had been due to meet French President Francois Hollande later this month but pulled out after Paris said talks would be confined to Syria, French presidential sources said.

On Monday, Mr Hollande suggested Russian officials could face war crimes charges over the bombardment of Aleppo.

n Tuesday UK Foreign Secretary Boris Johnson told the UK parliament Russia was in danger of becoming a pariah nation because of its involvement in Syria.

Moscow has repeatedly denied attacking civilians, and says it targets terrorist groups in Syria.

The UK-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights reported that at least 25 civilians were killed in Tuesday's air strikes and considerable damage was inflicted on several areas.

The observatory said Russian war planes had dropped so-called "bunker busters" and other bombs, with children thought to be among the dead.

Footage shared by activists showed lifeless bodies of toddlers wrapped in sheets, with their parents distraught beside them.

Some of the most intense attacks have come in the Bustan al-Qasr and Fardos neighbourhoods near the citadel, which sits near the front line with the government-held west.

Aid organisation Medecins Sans Frontieres said on Tuesday there were now only 11 working ambulances left in the city because five had been hit by bombs and another eight were missing essential spare parts.

Meanwhile, Syrian state media reported rebel attacks on government-held western Aleppo, in which it said four people were killed and 14 injured.

Diplomatic efforts to revive the ceasefire have so far come to nothing.

The UN has warned that eastern Aleppo, where an estimated 275,000 people still live, could face "total destruction" in the space of two months.

Last week, Russia vetoed a UN Security Council resolution drafted by France calling for an end to the bombing in Aleppo.

TOPIC: Giving At Its Best

Bible Text: 2 Corinthians 9:8-15

Key Verse: "Now he that ministereth seed to the sower both minister bread for your food, and multiply your seed sown, and increase the fruits of your righteousness" (2 Corinthians 9:10).

Among many stories told about the Great Chicago fire of 1871, the one involving Evangelist D.L. Moody remains etched in most people's memory. The respected cleric proceeded to New York to raise financial help for the victims of the inferno. Homes, factories and industries were destroyed, with value of lost property running into tens of millions of dollars.

Moody was led to a rich and generous man in the economic and commercial capital of the United States. The affluent man did not disappoint him and gave Moody a cheque for a large amount in response to the massive need in Chicago. The benefactor did more: he directed Moody to several other wealthier men who also gave heavy contributions. The evangelist was impressed and as he left New York, he told his host: "If you ever come to Chicago, be sure to call on me, I'll return your favour".But the man replied, "Mr. Moody, don't wait for me to come.

Do it to the first man who comes along". Years later when the clergyman recalled this experience, he said: "I never forgot that remark. It had the ring of the true Good Samaritan". Giving, for Christians is taking after God Who gave His best (His only begotten Son) to unworthy mankind. Giving for evangelism, Church work and to the needy, with no intention to please self or the world, moves God to give more to the donor. When you give, you become an ally of the original Giver. You put yourself in a commanding position to rise above lack even in the midst of local and global financial crisis. That has been the testimony of those who practice cheerful and bountiful giving. This would also be your testimony as a real and unpretentious child of God.

Thought for the day: Give until giving produces hurts.

TOPIC: Christianity is Serious

Bible Text: Be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only . . . — James 1:22

Jesus indicated that there will be a permissive society just before He comes back. “As in the days of Noah, so shall it be also in the days of the coming of the Son of man.” The world today is on an immoral binge that has not been known since the days of Rome. We are in a hedonistic society, and what we are seeing is human nature expressing itself without God.

Many have fallen into an antinomianism in which they believe intellectually and then go out and live like the devil, imagining that God will forgive them and take them to heaven. I believe there is an obedience to the Gospel, there is a self-denial and a bearing of the cross, if you are to be a follower of Christ. Being a Christian is serious business.

Prayer for the day:
Teach me to deny my selfish desires and obey Your commandments, Lord Jesus. Cleanse me so that I might be used to penetrate society deeply for You.

Obama says Trump's comments on women disqualifying

Obama says Trump's comments on women disqualifying
President Barack Obama said on Tuesday that Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump's comments on a 2005 videotape about groping women would disqualify him from even a job at a convenience store.

Speaking at a campaign rally in Greensboro, North Carolina, for Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton, Obama said the choice was clear in the Nov. 8 election even before the tape was leaked last week showing Trump speaking crudely about women.

"Now you find a situation in which the guy says stuff that nobody would find tolerable if they were applying for a job at 7-Eleven," Obama told the crowd, referring to the convenience store chain.

Trump said during Sunday night's presidential debate he was embarrassed by the video, but dismissed it as "locker room talk."

Obama also criticized some Republicans who have condemned the remarks but are still backing the New York businessman.

"The fact that now you've got people saying: 'We strongly disagree, we really disapprove ... but we're still endorsing him.' They still think he should be president, that doesn't make sense to me," Obama said.

Earlier on Tuesday, White House spokesman Josh Earnest said the remarks in the recording amounted to sexual assault.

Obama also took aim at Trump's business credentials, referring to a New York Times report that showed he claimed a nearly billion dollar loss in one year on his taxes in the 1990s.

"They say the house always wins," Obama quipped about Trump, who was a casino developer at the time. "I don't know how that happens."
