Buari, who is a mother of twins shared her thoughts in a post on Facebook.
“Forget about these old men called sponsors, and build a future with that brilliant determined young man who is after you.”
“He might be poor today but he won’t be poor forever. Build wealth with your own man.” “Don’t die over material things, sponsors will bless you with gifts, diseases and curses."
"Better things are yet to come. Some died of AIDS just because of Iphone 4; little did they know that we will have Iphone7.”

“Sponsors will waste your youthful years and you will miss the chance of getting married to a man that will make you a Mrs. It’s very true there will be more to life, to the wise ladies, think about this piece.”

ABUJA, NIGERIA - There was strong indication on Saturday that the leadership of both chambers of the National Assembly might have agreed to invite President Muhammadu Buhari to address a joint session of the federal lawmakers whenever he returned to the country.

One of our correspondents learnt that the decision was the outcome of the meeting of the Senate and House of Representatives principal officers, hosted by Senate President, Bukola Saraki, at his private residence on Wednesday night.

One of the principal officers of the Senate, who pleaded anonymity, told one of our correspondents that the leadership of both chambers deliberated extensively on the current economic situation in the country and came up with some pragmatic solutions.

The source said the meeting agreed that the President should first be invited to tell the federal parliamentarians the specific steps that his administration is taking to take Nigeria out of recession.

He said, “It was Speaker Yakubu Dogara, who led the House of Representatives’ team to the meeting, that suggested the idea and it was adopted by leaders of both chambers.

“The president was asked to come and brief us on the specific efforts he had taken with his economic team to tackle the recession.”

He added that some principal officers of the Senate also suggested that the National Assembly should ask the President to reshuffle his cabinet with a view to injecting new hands to come up with fresh ideas on how to save the nation’s economy from total collapse.

He added that while some called for the outright sacking of the Minister of Finance, Mrs. Kemi Adeosun,  and her counterpart in the Budget and Economic Planning,  Mr. Udo Udoma,  others believed that a minor reshuffle of Buhari’s cabinet, would perform magic.

The Senate leadership at the meeting were said to have agreed to set up a committee that would compile the recommendations of all the senators that spoke during last week’s debate on the economy and come up with a report.

Dogara was said to have assured his counterpart in the Senate that the green chamber would support whatever position taken by it, to move the nation forward.

As a follow up to the meeting of  the previous night,  Saraki at the plenary on Thursday, named a seven-member committee to compile the major suggestions raised by members and present a report which will form part of its resolution on the state of the economy.

A source in the senate, who craved anonymity, explained that the report of the seven- member adhoc committee would be considered at the plenary on Tuesday while a formal resolution would be passed.

He said, “What the Senate is looking at is the possibility of putting up the nation’s oil assets for sale to generate enough resources that could revitalise the economy so that small and medium scale enterprises can start functioning again.

“We are also looking at a total overhaul of Buhari’s economic team with a view to bringing on board, fresh hands that would inject new innovation needed to galvanise the economy and take it out of recession.

“It is true that President Buhari would be invited to address the joint session of the National Assembly on the economy. It would be an opportunity for him to get feedback from Nigerians because all of us are just coming from our constituencies and we know what our people are going through.”

One of our correspondents learnt that the  adhoc committee held its inaugural sitting on Friday and decided to complete  its assignment and submit to the Senate leadership on Monday.

A source in the panel said rather than recommeding the sacking of Adeosun and Udoma, “both ministers would be summoned to answer question from members of the Senate at plenary.”

It was further gathered that the Senate leadership would review the recommendations and present them in form of resolution at Tuesday plenary.

A member of the House who craved anonymity, said, “There is nothing unusual about calling Mr. President, who is our party leader and the father of the nation, to come and address us.

“In the US where we copied our type of democracy from, the President gives the popular state-of-the-nation address at intervals to re-assure citizens, especially in times of difficulties.

“Assurances by the President before the people’s representatives in the National Assembly will send a strong message locally and internationally.”

When contacted, the Spokesman for the House of Representatives, Abdulrazak Namdas,  said, “The House did not summon the President, the House is only asking the President to consider addressing a joint session. It is a suggestion.”

However, the embattled former Chairman of the House Committee on Appropriations, Abdulmunin Jibrin, faulted the idea of asking the President to come and address a joint session on the grounds that it was initiated by Dogara.

But the Chairman, Senate Committee on Petroleum Resources (Downstream), Kabir Marafa, said the senate had the constitutional right to summon the executive.

He said, “It is the constitutional duty of the Senate to ask questions; to ask any minister questions about his ministry and if a minister is found wanting why not (give him the boot)?

“There are no sacred cows. There is nowhere it is stated that once you are appointed a minister you cannot be recommended for removal.”

Angelina Jolie Barricades Kids Inside Malibu Rental After Brad Pitt Split

So horrible. Angelina Jolie, 41, thought that she could protect her six children from all the drama surrounding her high-profile split from Brad Pitt, 52, by taking refuge in an ultra-luxe Malibu, California rental home, but she’s resorted to even more drastic measures to ensure their privacy. “Angelina has covered up all the ocean view windows of her Malibu hideaway with lawn furniture cushions so no one can see in or out,” a source revealed on Sept. 24. “She is paranoid and has barricaded herself, and the children, inside the compound.”

We can’t even imagine what she and her children are going through right now. As we previously reported, the Oscar-nominee has rented a $95,000/month, 4,409 square foot beachside property while dealing with the frenzy since she announced the couple’s separation on Sept. 19. As it was revealed on Sept. 21, the actress escaped to the home immediately after announcing her divorce. “Angelina is giving Brad, who has been in their home alone, space for him to move out or do whatever he needs to do while they deal with the beginning of their divorce,” a source told us at the time.

Angelina is seeking full custody of the six children. She’s cited poor parenting, alcohol and marijuana use (on Brad’s part) as her reasons. Still, sources close to Brad have stood by his side, calling him a “loving and devoted father.”

Jerusalem will be capital of Israel if elected - Trump

US Election
Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump on Sunday told Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu that if elected, the United States would recognize Jerusalem as the capital of Israel, the campaign said, marking a potential dramatic shift in U.S. policy on the issue.

During the meeting that lasted more than an hour at Trump Tower in New York, Trump told Netanyahu that under his administration, the United States would "recognize Jerusalem as the undivided capital of the State of Israel."

While Israel calls Jerusalem its capital, few other countries accept that, including the United States. Most nations maintain embassies in Tel Aviv.

Palestinians want East Jerusalem, captured by Israel in a 1967 war, as capital of the state they aim to establish alongside Israel in the West Bank and Gaza Strip.

During the closed-door meeting, the campaign said that Trump agreed with Netanyahu that peace in the Middle East could only be achieved when "the Palestinians renounce hatred and violence and accept Israel as a Jewish State."

According to a readout of the meeting from the campaign, the two discussed "at length" Israel's border fence, cited by Trump in reference to his own controversial immigration policies, which include building a wall on the U.S.- Mexico border and temporarily banning Muslims from entering the country.

Other regional issues, including the fight against Islamic State, U.S. military assistance to Israel -- "an excellent investment" -- and the Iran nuclear deal, which both parties have criticized, were also discussed.

Brutal Boko Haram leader 'comes back from dead' with video taunting military over air strike claims

Boko Haram leader Abubakar Shekau

The leader of the brutal Nigerian Islamist group Boko Haram has released a marathon 40-minute video message denying he had been killed or seriously injured in a military air strike.

Abubakar Shekau taunted leaders by claiming they cannot kill him 'until my time comes' and appeared to insult one by saying he had 'goat eyes'.

Boko Haram is notorious for its attacks on schools, kidnappings and suicide bombings, and last year pledged its allegiance to ISIS . Last month, Nigeria's air force said it had killed senior members of the group and that Shekau had been wounded.

Shekau, whose age is unknown, was supposedly replaced as leader in August by Abu Musab al-Barnawi, first son of the group's founder, but has maintained that he is still in charge.

In the lengthy video, posted to YouTube, he said: "To the tyrants of Nigeria in particular and the west of Africa in general, die in your anger and the news is not like as you claimed and as you distributed.

"You broadcast the news and published it in your media outlets that you injured me and killed me and here I am, telling you if God willing, you tyrants, I am fine and secured, if God willing, and nothing has hit me and I will not get killed until my time comes."

The Nigerian military has said it has killed or critically wounded Shekau multiple times in recent years, often right before someone who says they are him shoots a video denying it.

Father rapes 15-year-old daughter, drugs her to prevent pregnancy

NIGERIA - The Lagos State Police Command has arrested a 47-year-old trader, Uchena Elumadu, for allegedly raping his 15-year-old daughter in the Agege area of the state.

Source revealed that each time the Imo State indigene slept with the victim, he would drug her to prevent her from being pregnant.

He was, however, caught by his wife, who raised the alarm which drew the attention of neighbours and residents of Martins Street, New Oko Oba, Agege, where the incident happened.

The suspect, upon his arrest, allegedly admitted to sleeping with his daughter three times.

A police source said immediately the incest was discovered by the girl’s mother on Monday, September 19, the suspect fled the house.

He said, “The man has three children, two girls and one boy. The victim is the first child and she is in JSS 3. He had been sleeping with her for a long time. He started sleeping with her in 2015.

“It was easy for him because his wife is a casual worker at the airport and she is most times on night duty and does not sleep at home. What he does is to sneak into the room at midnight while the other children are asleep. He will wake the girl up, rape her and give her drugs to prevent pregnancy.

“But on September 19, his wife was around. He woke up and went to the room to wake up the girl, not knowing that his wife was awake and observing everything.

“The woman caught him in the act and shouted. She reported the case directly to the Commissioner of Police, Fatai Owoseni.”

The source said the matter was immediately referred to the Gender Unit of the Lagos State Police Command headquarters, Ikeja, where a manhunt was launched for the suspect.

The source, who stated that Elumadu was arrested at his house on Friday after the police got a tip-off that he was around, added that the suspect thought that the case had died down.

The state’s Police Public Relations Officer, Dolapo Badmos, who confirmed the incident, said the victim had been admitted to Police College Hospital, Ikeja.

She said, “Preliminary investigation reveals that the suspect had on different occasions raped the daughter, after which he administered drugs to her to prevent her from getting pregnant.

“The 15-year-old girl told the police that the father on countless occasions woke her up in the middle of the night to rape her mostly when the mother was on night duty.

“The mother caught the suspect having intercourse with the victim. The father admitted to raping her on three occasions, blaming the act on the devil. The victim is currently admitted to Police College Hospital, where she is receiving treatment. This is in partnership with Mirabel Centre and the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital, Ikeja, where medical examination will be carried out on her.”

Badmos, a Superintendent of Police, said the CP had ordered that the suspect be charged to court at the end of investigations.

She added that the command had no tolerance for sexual abuse and domestic violence.

Key Verse: I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing. - John 15:5

Abiding in Jesus isn’t something that comes automatically to any believer. It’s a lifestyle that involves discipline and effort.

We have to choose to give ourselves to our union with Him, to give Him first place where our attention is concerned. If we want to grow spiritually, if we want to walk in power and in fellowship with the Lord, we’ll have to spend the time it takes to know Him.

That’s not something we can do for a while and then forget about either. We must continue in it every day. For the moment we stop moving closer to Jesus, we always start drifting away.

You see, here in this natural world you’re surrounded by ungodliness. You live in a body that is totally natural. Unless you purposely counter that with daily prayer and time in the Word, your body and your mind will simply give in to the pressures around you and go the way of the world.

Right now, make a decision to give yourself to the things of God. Focus your attention on the Lord. Surround yourself with His Word. Listen to preaching and teaching tapes while you’re getting dressed, driving to work, preparing dinner, working on your car, exercising, cleaning house and when you go to bed. Listen to the Word of God anytime, anywhere!

Abide in Him today.

Bible Text: ECCLESIASTES 11:1-6

Key Verse: "Cast thy bread upon the waters: for thou shalt find it after many days" (Ecclesiastes 11:1).

God is rich in mercy to all. Though unworthy, He gives us liberally and upbraids not. As children of God, we also should be merciful as our heavenly Father is. Here is a pressing exhortation to works of charity towards the poor, as the best cure to the vanity which our worldly riches are subject to; and the only way to make them turn into substantial good account.

Solomon impresses it upon us to do good to others and abound in liberality to the poor, with assurance that such would abound to our account someday. Though it is cast "upon the waters", and seems lost, likely never to be found, yet "thou shalt find it after many days", as the husbandman finds his seed again in a plentiful harvest and the merchant his venture in a rich return. It is not lost, but well laid out, and well laid up.

It brings in full interest in God's providence, graces and comforts of His Spirit; and the principal is sure, laid up in heaven, for it is lent to the Lord. "Thou shalt find it [perhaps not quickly, but] after many days." The return may be slow, but it is sure and will be so much the more plentiful when it comes because "the liberal soul shall be made fat..." (Proverbs 11:25). So, take time to look around. Certainly, there are people around you in dire need of your love and touch of liberality. Discover them and cast your "bread" upon the "waters" of their lives. From today, make it a lifestyle to always show a little bit of love and sow some seeds of kindness.

Thought for the day: Givers never lack, only misers do.

Bible Text: Cleanse me from this guilt. Let me be pure again. –Psalm 51:2 (TLB)

Guilt is a prominent word among psychoanalysts, psychiatrists, and ministers too. The dictionary calls guilt “the act or state of having done a wrong or committed an offense.” The symptoms of guilt are many, but the root cause is one.

We have broken the moral law of the universe as expressed in the Ten Commandments and the Sermon on the Mount. So we have a sense of guilt.

This guilt causes a variety of psychological problems such as insecurity, tension, hunger for approval, struggles for recognition. A sense of guilt, some psychiatrists point out, is as necessary as a sense of pain. We need both in order to keep us from getting hurt.

Prayer for the day: Your Holy Spirit touches my heart and makes me conscious of my guilt. Forgive me, Lord.

SCRIPTURE: It is a good thing to give thanks unto the Lord and to sing praises unto thy Name oh Most High. – Psalm 92:1

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: Focus on God is key to true success in life.

From our anchor scripture, we understand that it is a good thing to give thanks to God. This means that the way of praise is the escape route from evil. If good is your desire, then praise is the channel. If you are tired of the bad agenda of the enemy around you, praise will make you escape it.

The goodness of praise lies in the fact that the lifestyle of praise keeps a man focused on God. While others focus their attentions on other things, a praise worshipper has his focus on God. In life, your focus determines your future; therefore, if God is your focus, He will direct your future aright.

The difference between praise and worry is that praise focuses on God while worry focuses on challenges. To focus on your challenges is to multiply them. Focusing on things that bother you only opens you up to more of those things. Praise and worship keeps your focus on God and focus on God equals focus on good. Focus on God is key to true success in life.

Remember this: Focus on God is key to true success in life.

1. Develop a lifestyle of praise and worship.
2. Decide to praise and worship God consistently despite any challenge you might be facing in your life.

PRAYER: O LORD, help me to maintain my focus on You despite the challenges of life. Fill my mouth with words of praise and appreciation to You, in Jesus’ Name.

Memorise: Lying lips are abomination to the LORD: but they that deal truly are his delight. – Proverbs 12:22

Read: Revelation 21:8 (KJV)

8 But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.

Bible in One Year: Ezekiel 13-15, Psalms 68:7-21

A fraudster is a dishonest person. Someone with a disposition to tell lies, cheat or steal. Dishonesty is contrary to the will and nature of God, and so should not be found among the people of God. The Bible teaches that any prosperity obtained from deceit, fraud and lies will be short lived. Initially, it will appear as an increase but later it will leave you plundered. Some believers exploit fellow believers. This is a great evil because any wrong you do to your brother or sister in Christ is done to the Lord. Today, many people find it difficult to tell the truth. For instance, when asked to go and buy something for the church, they will not rest until they make profit for themselves. Some of those who ‘maintain’ church equipment will present certain equipment as write offs, receive money for another one only to refurbish that which was condemned. They then go on to use it either for themselves or put it out for sale. Who owns the equipment? Who owns the church? Who do you think you are deceiving; the pastor, administrator or Christ? Bread of deceit loads your system with gravel! Each time you deceive the church authority to make money for yourself, you give yourself wounds that may never heal. Jeremiah 17:11 puts it this way:

“As the partridge sitteth on eggs, and hatcheth them not; so he that getteth riches, and not by right, shall leave them in the midst of his days, and at his end shall be a fool.”

A particular brother received a contract for electrical works in the building of a church. While bidding for it, he presented certain standard of cables and materials but after he was awarded the contract, he bought sub-standard materials in order to make more profit. Nobody knew. About two years after, the building was on fire as a result of the poor materials used. Meanwhile, the contractor had died before his secret deal came to light. A number of people believed that his deception killed him. Don’t kill yourself; don’t die before your time! God cannot bless you if you deceive Him or His servants. Some people deliberately supply inferior goods to the church so that when they get spoilt, they will be recalled to re-supply such items. This is fraud! Remember Ananias and Sapphira lied about the offering they gave but never survived it! Neither will any who follows their evil path. Are you fraudulent, dishonest, or crafty? Be warned, the end result could be highly disappointing. Proverbs 23:5 describes this as an exercise in futility.

“Wilt thou set thine eyes upon that which is not? for riches certainly make themselves wings; they fly away as an eagle toward heaven.”

Prayer Point: Father, please destroy every seed of dishonesty and fraud in my life in Jesus’ name.
