The Most Embarrassing Red Carpet Dresses Ever Seen

ENTERTAINMENT - Italian models Giulia Salemi and Dayane Mello certainly left a lasting impression on the Venice Film Festival after they suffered very embarrassing wardrobe malfunctions.

The duo appeared to forget their underwear and bared more than they bargained for in VERY revealing frocks as they walked the red carpet for the showing of new TV series The Young Pope on Saturday.

Dayane flashed the flesh in an extravagant pink frock that fell off her shoulders with giant puff-ball sleeves, adding a silver belt around her waist.

The dress was slashed from the waist down, but that caused problems for the model when the dress fell aside and exposed her crotch, which was on near-full display. More photos after my style

CRISIS: Nigeria Economic Crisis May Last Till 2020

NIGERIA ECONOMIC CRISIS - The human rights and maritime lawyer, pointed out that cohesion was needed at this point, that the tight liquidity operated by the Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, where it jerked up its Monetary Policy Rate (MPR) to 14 per cent is ridiculous, adding that CBN’s focus on Forex management is rather encouraging round tripping and creating asymmetry in the system.

He also advised the CBN to focus on productive value of the economy and not the numerical value of the naira, saying: “The full deregulation of the forex market to allow level playing field and removing distortions such as round tripping, will ensure that at least $20 billion inflow will instantly occur.”

The former NBA Chairman, then went on to list a number of solutions for President Buhari to revive the economy saying that there was an immediate need for “a presidential proclamation at the National Assembly, switching from austerity to growth policy, the federal government needs to spend more to boost growth.” Agbakoba, however, pointed that contrary to popular opinion, President Buhari does not need the envisaged economic emergency powers to make a turnaround.

He noted that former President Shehu Shagari had it in his time and still failed, adding that the so-called economic emergency powers is also not working in Venezuela. Agbakoba said that to revive the economy: “Nigeria must spend its way out of recession; establish a National Treatment Policy- Fiscal and trade Protection Policy, establish urgently a Development and Guarantee Bank; prepare Public Sector Borrowing Requirement, PSBR and borrow as our debt Ratio can sustain this, as well as develop Assets securitisation.”

In conclusion, the lawyer said that there is need for the Federal Government to pay-off the country’s domestic debt to inject liquidity in the system. Read More

ATTENTION!!! Zika virus can live in eyes, spread through tears – Research

The Zika virus can live in eyes, researchers said Tuesday, after conducting experiments on mice that may explain why some patients develop ocular disease and in some cases become blind.

The study, published in the journal Cell Reports, studied the effects of Zika virus infection in the eyes of fetal, newborn and adult mice.

“Our study suggests that the eye could be a reservoir for Zika virus,” said Michael Diamond, a professor at the Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis who is one of the study’s senior authors.

“We need to consider whether people with Zika have infectious virus in their eyes and how long it actually persists,” he added, noting that patients could spread the infection through their tears.

The researchers are planning to expand their study to include humans infected with Zika virus.

Zika causes only mild symptoms such as fever and a rash for most people but pregnant women who catch it can give birth to babies with microcephaly, a deformation marked by abnormally small brains and heads.

One third of babies infected with Zika in utero have eye disease such as inflammation of the optic nerve, retinal damage or blindness, the researchers said.

In adults, Zika can cause conjunctivitis, also known as pink eye, and in some rare cases uveitis, a condition in which part of the eye wall becomes inflamed. It can lead to permanent vision loss.

In conducting the study, researchers infected mice under the skin, similar to the way a human would be infected by a mosquito.

They found live Zika virus in the rodents’ eyes seven days later.

Infection in the eyes means it’s possible people can become infected with Zika simply through touching contaminated tears.

It’s still not clear how the Zika virus makes its way to the eyes. One possibility is that it crosses “the blood-retina barrier that separates the eye from the bloodstream, traveling along the optic nerve that connects the brain and the eye,” researchers said in a statement.

Researchers found genetic material from Zika in the tears of infected mice 28 days after infection — though not the virus itself.

“Even though we didn’t find live virus in mouse tears, that doesn’t mean that it couldn’t be infectious in humans,” said lead author Jonathan Miner, who teaches medicine at Washington University.

“There could be a window of time when tears are highly infectious and people are coming in contact with it and able to spread it.”

Bill Cosby sex assault trial to begin on 5 June 2017

Bill Cosby
A judge in Pennsylvania has set a trial date for Bill Cosby, who is accused of sexually assaulting a woman at his home in 2004.

Former Temple University employee Andrea Constand alleges the 79-year-old entertainer drugged and molested her at his suburban Philadelphia home.

The trial is tentatively set to begin on 5 June next year near his home.

At least 50 women have accused Mr Cosby of sexual assault, and prosecutors want 13 of them to testify.

The former star of The Cosby Show faces up to 10 years in prison if convicted.

A lawyer for Mr Cosby welcomed the trial date, saying: "The time has come to shine a spotlight on the trampling of Mr Cosby's civil rights."

Once fondly known as America's Dad, Mr Cosby was the first African-American to host a primetime television programme.

Breaking: Two Turkish soldiers killed by the Islamic State

Turkish crisis

Two Turkish soldiers have been killed by the Islamic State (IS) group in clashes in northern Syria, the Turkish army has said.

Another five soldiers were wounded in a rocket attack on Turkish tanks, the military said in a statement.

The fatalities are believed to be the first since Turkey launched its operation inside Syria two weeks ago.

Two fighters from the Free Syrian Army were also killed and another two injured in the attack.

"Two of our hero comrades were martyred and five were wounded in a rocket attack on two of our tanks by Daesh (IS) elements," the army statement said.

The rocket attack was launched near the village of al-Waqf, it added.

Syrian rebels backed by Turkey say they have recaptured a number of villages from IS since the Turkish operation - code-named Euphrates Shield - began.

The rebels have also retaken the key border town of Jarabulus.

On Sunday, Turkey said IS fighters were pushed out of their last positions along the Turkish-Syrian border.

Turkish forces have targeted IS inside Syria, but have also attacked Kurdish fighters in the same region.

The pursuit of the Kurdish YPG militia has led to criticism by Washington, which regards the Kurds as one of the most effective forces in the battle against IS.

Breaking: Radical preacher Anjem Choudary bags five years jail term

The 49-year-old was convicted at the Old Bailey after backing the group in an oath of allegiance published online.

Police say Choudary's followers carried out attacks in the UK and abroad.

The judge, who described Choudary as calculating and dangerous, passed the same sentence on his confidant Mohammed Mizanur Rahman, 33.

Both men were also sentenced to a notification order lasting 15 years, which requires them to tell police if details such as their address change.

Choudary, of Ilford, east London, and Rahman, from Palmers Green, north London, were convicted last month of inviting support for IS - an offence contrary to section 12 of the Terrorism Act 2000 - between 29 June 2014 and 6 March 2015.

The trial heard the pair also used speeches to urge support for IS, which is also known as Daesh, after it declared a caliphate in the summer of 2014.

Breaking: Three Drowned Soldiers Recovered In Bayelsa State

Nigerian Army
BAYELSA, NIGERIA - Local divers and military personnel in Bayelsa State recovered bodies of three drowned soldiers yesterday in Brass LGA area.

According to Lloyd Sese, Chairman National Maritime Union, Bayelsa State Chapter, said the tragic boat accident that claimed the lives of four soldiers in Brass Local Government area was due to poor logistics and use of low powered engine boats to convoy military personnel.

Mr. Sese, who commented on the incident yesterday in Yenagoa, said the preliminary investigation conducted by the Brass Unit of the Maritime Union showed that the accident could have been avoided if adequate logistics were arranged with high capacity engine boats used.

He stated that “they used small boats with low capacity engines.”

He called on the military authorities to consult the Maritime Union for logistics and transport during such movements, while we commiserate with the Nigerian Military on the loss of their men, “we call on the military to consult those involved in the day to day commercial activities along the creeks and the waterways.”

Earlier, Colonel Sani Kukasheka Usman, Acting Director Army Public Relations, confirmed the boat mishap saying "we have not been able to ascertain the number of soldiers who may have lost their lives. It is quite a tragic incident.”

News Update: North Korea leader hails missiles, calls for nuclear build-up

North Korea missile tests

Kim Jong-Un labelled North Korea’s latest missile tests “perfect”, state media said Tuesday, as he called for the isolated state to build up its nuclear arsenal.

Hours before the UN Security Council was set to meet to discuss Pyongyang’s latest military provocation, the country’s supreme leader hailed Monday’s firing of three mid-range weapons.

Kim supervised a drill by artillery units “tasked to strike the bases of the US imperialist aggressor forces in the Pacific operational theatre in a contingency,” Pyongyang’s KCNA news agency said.

“The units’ capability for fighting a real battle and the combat performance of the rockets were appreciated as perfect,” it said.
“He stressed the need to continue making miraculous achievements in bolstering up the nuclear force one after another in this historic year,” it added.

South Korea’s defence ministry said the tests were of Rodong missiles with a range of 1,000 kilometres (620 miles). It said they had been fired over the Sea of Japan (East Sea) without warning.

The Rodong is a scaled-up Scud variant with a maximum range of around 1,300 kilometres, bringing most of Japan within range.

The launches came as world leaders gathered in neighbouring China for the G20 summit, sparking condemnation from Japan and the United States, which blasted them as “reckless”.

In spite of tough global sanctions, Pyongyang continues to defy the international community’s calls for a halt to its weapons programme.

Those calls were set to intensify later Tuesday when the 15-member UN Security Council convenes in New York to consider a response to the latest in a series of tests, which has also included the detonation of a nuclear bomb in January.

– ‘Annihilating nuclear fire shower’ –
Despite the global chorus of disapproval, Pyongyang was unrepentant.

Kim expressed “great satisfaction over the successful successive firing drill of the ballistic rockets”, which showed his military’s capability to launch “a preemptive attack on the enemies any time and from any place”, KCNA said.

The strategic artillery unit was “full of military might” to strike the US and its forces with “annihilating nuclear fire shower”, it said.

The North’s top newspaper Rodong Sinmun carried nine photos of the test, including one of a beaming Kim standing in front of a map surrounded by smiling officials.

Melissa Hanham, an expert on North Korea’s weapons programme at the Middlebury Institute of International Studies in California, said it was difficult to determine so far if there had been any technical progress.

“The most obvious difference from the last test is the change in warhead,” Hanham said.

Last month, North Korea fired a submarine-launched ballistic missile from the northeastern port of Sinpo.

That flew 500 kilometres towards Japan, far exceeding the range of the country’s previous sub-launched missiles.

Kim described the August test as the “greatest success” and said it put the US mainland within striking range.

The launch was widely condemned by the US and other major powers, but analysts saw it as a clear step forward for North Korea’s nuclear strike ambitions.

A proven submarine-launched ballistic missile system would allow deployment far beyond the Korean peninsula and a “second-strike” capability in the event of an attack on the North’s military bases.

VIDEO: Nigerian Policeman Shoots Cyclist Dead Over N50 Bribe

ONDO, NIGERIA - A yet to be identified trigger-happy police officer in Ondo State has shot dead a commercial motorcyclist on the Benin-Ore Expressway in the state. The body of the unidentified motorcyclist has been deposited at a hospital morgue in Ore.

A source in the state capital of Akure, who confirmed the fatality, told SaharaReporters that the tragic event occurred on Sunday morning at a town called Omifun on the Ore expressway. The source provided SaharaReporters with an “amateur video” from the scene.

In a telephone interview with our correspondent, the source alleged that a bribe-seeking police officer shot and killed the cyclist and immediately fled the scene. According to him, the officer “who is attached to the anti-crime patrol unit of the Ondo State Police Command killed the motorcyclist for refusing to give him a bribe of N50.”

Added the source, “The police officer and his other colleagues fled the scene and ran to safety immediately after the Okada man [commercial motorcyclist] was shot dead.”

Our correspondent reported that the tragic outrage provoked traffic gridlock along the expressway as many sympathetic drivers and travelers parked their vehicles to help in evacuating the body of the deceased from the road.

The video footage obtained by our correspondent shows some irate sympathizers destroying a crested van belonging to the police. Many of the furious eyewitnesses demanded an investigation into the murder of the motorcyclist.

Our correspondent could not reach the Ondo State Police Commissioner, Hilda Ibifuro Harrison, to respond to the fatal shooting as her line was switched off for a prolonged time.

NIGERIA - The Federal Government yesterday warned of an imminent food crisis if quelea birds, locusts and grasshoppers gathering in Niger Republic are allowed  entry into the country.

Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Chief Audu Ogbeh gave the warning during an emergency meeting with state commissioners of Agriculture in the 12 states in the country yesterday in Abuja.

The Commissioners of Agriculture in Kebbi, Zamfara, Sokoto and Jigawa states have confirmed the presence of the birds in about six -seven local governments areas in the n states.

Ogbeh stated that the presence of army warm had already started affecting grains in some parts of the country.

This, he said, had led to increase in the price of maize to N15,000 in the country.

He also stated that if the quelea birds and locusts as well as grasshoppers are allowed to enter into the country, they would do terrible damage to the farms.

According to him, Nigeria is already facing maize crisis, adding that if the birds are added to the crisis, the country would be in turmoil.

Ogbeh said: “There is warning that we have received that locusts and quelea birds are massing up in Niger Republic from where they normally attack us in Nigeria.

“We know how dangerous quelea birds can be and locusts. If they arrive within hours and days, they would have wiped out everything the farmers would have put in the field.

“We already have maize crisis. We may have food problems if we are attacked. This country would be in turmoil. We can’t afford that.

“The army warm is another problem. We already have severe shortages of maize. You know the price rose to N15,000 as a result of that.

“Most of the poultry farms are in trouble and many families are hungry. We have got to start working together like this to deal with these things as soon as there is any sign of them.

“We must have an emergency team between you and ourselves to tackle these issues very swiftly.

“Now we know they will come. We have to design a strategy where chemicals are available in all the states and contingency steps can be taken quickly.”

Ogbeh added that President Muhammadu Buhari has directed the ministry to find solutions to the problem.

According to Wikipedia online.com, quelea bird is a genus of small passerine birds that belongs to the weaver family ploceidae, confined to Africa.

TRAGEDY: 4 Soldiers Drown After Boat Accident, Riffles Missing

Niger Delta Crisis

SOUTH-SOUTH NIGERIA - The military operation against militants, codenamed ‘Operation Crocodile Smile,’ on Monday suffered a setback as four soldiers drowned following a boat accident in Bayelsa State.

The incident occurred along the Brass waterfront in the Brass Local Government Area of the state.

Service rifles belonging to the missing soldiers were also said to be missing.

It was learnt that the sad incident, which occurred at about 10am on Monday, created panic among newly-deployed soldiers in the state.

Though the mission of the soldiers in the area could not be ascertained, it was gathered that it was not unconnected with the operations against renewed militancy, sea piracy and search for those threatening to hoist the ‘Niger Delta Republic’ flag.

An indigene of the community, identified simply as Etta, said attempts by community youths and other soldiers to assist in a rescue operation failed as the drowned soldiers could not be found.

Etta said, “In recent times, we have been noticing increased movement of soldiers in our area. The boat that capsized was conveying a new batch of soldiers to the waterfront.

“I was going to dispose of refuse at the waterfront and I saw uniformed soldiers struggling to rescue their colleagues in a capsized boat.

“When the confusion subsided, four soldiers were found to be missing with their rifles and other military gear. Those that were rescued had their rifles missing and struggling out of the water.”

It was further learnt that as of 2pm, the military authorities sought the help of local divers and youths in the search for the missing soldiers.

But one of the youths confirmed that the high tide of the water impeded the search for the missing soldiers.

The state Chairman of the Maritime Union, Mr. Lyyod Sese, who confirmed the incident, said the union had not received the report on the boat incident.

“We do not have details of the number of casualties,” Sese said.

An official of the Brass LGA, who spoke on condition of anonymity, also confirmed the development.

Attempts to get confirmation from the Joint Military Task Force,  Operation Delta Safe, were not successful as calls to the Acting Coordinator of the Joint Media Campaign Centre, Lt. Cmdr. Thomas Otuji, were not returned.

MEN ONLY: The Vitamin You Need So Your Pen*s Can Perform Actively on Bedroom Game

Sex Tips

MEN'S HEALTH - Lacking enough of the sunshine vitamin might snuff out the lights on your bedroom game.  New research from Italy suggests that low levels of vitamin D may increase your risk of erectile dysfunction.

When researchers tested 143 men with varying degrees of erectile dysfunction, they found that nearly half of them were coming up deficient in D, and only one in five had optimal levels of the nutrient.

What’s more, men with severe cases of ED had vitamin D levels that were about 24 percent lower than those of men with mild forms of the condition.

Insufficient levels of D may spur the production of free radicals called superoxide ions, according to study author Alessandra Barassi, M.D., and her research team.

These free radicals deplete your nitric oxide, a molecule that helps your blood vessels function properly.

The result: It makes it hard to, well, get hard.

“Nitric oxide causes the blood vessels to relax, which increases the blood flow and causes an erection under normal circumstances,” says Larry Lipshultz, M.D., a Men’s Health urology advisor.  Without the necessary amounts of nitric acid, though, your blood vessels may not relax enough to allow for an erection.
If you suffer from ED, ask your doctor to check your vitamin D levels. For ED patients with low levels, the study recommends taking supplements to get back to the optimal level of 30 ng/mL or above.

As for men with normal erectile functioning, Dr. Barassi says she’s currently studying whether vitamin D supplementation may act as a preventive measure to delay ED.

5 Militants Confirmed Dead in Gun Battle With Soldiers

IMO STATE, NIGERIA - Daily Sun reports that the militants were shot dead yesterday, September 6 by the JMTF which stormed the affected areas at the weekend.

The task force sneaked into the restive communities  in a tipper, took the militants by surprise, killed five militants on the spot while others reportedly escaped with bullet injuries.

One of the leaders of the militant group identified as Banga who escaped, had his house razed allegedly by the security operatives.

The invasion may not be unconnected  with the presidential directive to the military high command to flush out all militant groups in Niger Delta.

In recent times, the communities of  Awara and Assa  had been under the siege of both militants and cult groups, forcing people out of their homes.

Confirming the presence of security operatives in the communities, the state police command public relations officer, DSP Andrew Enwerem, said the force have always been sending security team to the communities to quell crisis.

Bothered by the activities of militants in Niger Delta and elsewhere, the President warned them to stop or face full military action.

Sources reveal that the military had to use helicopters to dislodge militants from Arepo in Ogun State and some other areas in Lagos state recently.

The militants went to the extent of kidnapping high profile members of the society including a monarch in Lagos.

Meanwhile, 21 suspected criminals involved in kidnapping, armed robbery and car snatching were yesterday paraded by the Abia state commissioner of police, Mr Leye Oyebade.

Also, two kidnap victims were rescued by the police team at Ugwunagbo Local Government Area.

Speaking while parading the hoodlums, Oyebade said  the police, acting on a tip-off, stormed the hideout of the hoodlums and rescued the kidnap victims, who were held hostage under a canopy in an uncompleted building by one Kingsley Alozie.

He said the suspects and others now at large belong to notorious kidnapping gangs who have abducted a good number of innocent citizens in the state in recent times.

The commissioner told newsmen that the uncompleted building, used by the hoodlums has been destroyed.

He stated  that the command has launched a manhunt for the  suspects are at large, while those arrested will be prosecuted appropriately.

One of the victims, who narrated his ordeal to newsmen  said he came to Aba to fix his car, but the hoodlums intercepted his car along Aba/Port- Harcourt Express-way and whisked him away along with his brother to an unknown destination.

“I came to Aba on Thursday to put my car in order, because I was involved in an accident last week.

After discussing with the panel beater who fixed the car, I decided to pass the night with my brother who resides at Aba, but as we were driving down to his house we were intercepted by some hoodlums at gun-point,” he said.

Breaking: Clinton rejects Mexico invitation after Trump's diplomatic incident

US Election

UNITED STATES - Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton said on Monday she will not accept an invitation from Mexican President Enrique Pena Nieto for a visit after rival Donald Trump created what she called a "diplomatic incident" in his foray there.

In a written excerpt from an interview with ABC News that will air Tuesday morning, Clinton simply said "no" when asked if she would travel to Mexico before the election on Nov. 8, without elaborating further.

Her campaign later confirmed her decision.

"We understand and respect her decision to propose the time to hold a meeting," said Mexican Foreign Minister Claudia Ruiz Massieu in a tweet, adding that contact with Clinton's campaign was ongoing.

Pena Nieto extended invitations to both candidates last month, and Trump flew to Mexico City last Wednesday for a meeting that appeared to be friendly but later revealed deep tensions.

Trump, the Republican presidential nominee, has been highly critical of Mexico, saying the country sends rapists and drug dealers to the United States. He has called for a wall to be built on the border that would be paid for by Mexico.

Trump said at a joint news conference with Pena Nieto that they did not discuss who would pay for the wall. Pena Nieto remained silent on the issue at the event, but said later on Twitter that he made it clear Mexico would not pay for the wall.

"He came out saying one thing and the Mexican president contradicted him almost immediately," Clinton, a former U.S. secretary of state, said in the ABC interview.

"He didn't raise it, so he did choke. He didn't know how to even communicate effectively with a head of state. And I think that's a pretty clear outcome from that trip," she added.

US President Obama calls off meeting with Philippine leader after 'whore' jibe

US President
US President Barack Obama has cancelled a meeting with controversial Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte, who had earlier called him a "son of a whore".

Mr Obama had said he would raise the issue of drug-related extrajudicial killings in the Philippines.

But Mr Duterte, who has sanctioned the killing of drug dealers, said if that happened: "Putang ina (son of a whore) I will swear at you in that forum."

Aides say Mr Obama will now meet South Korea's president instead.

US National Security Council spokesman Ned Price told reporters the US president would hold talks with Park Geun-hye at the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (Asean) in Laos, where leaders are gathering for a regional summit.

Mr Obama, who flew to Laos after attending the G20 meeting in Hangzhou, China, had been set to raise concerns about human rights abuses in the Philippines.
But speaking in Manila on Monday before he left for Laos, Mr Duterte bristled at the suggestion, saying it was "rude" and cursing the US president. He added that: "We will be wallowing in the mud like pigs if you do that to me."

He then referred to the anti-drugs campaign that has led to the killing of 2,400 suspected drug dealers and users in the Philippines since he took office in June.

"The campaign against drugs will continue. Many will die, plenty will be killed until the last pusher is out of the streets....until the [last] drug manufacturer is killed we will continue."

Mr Obama initially appeared to play down the insult saying that he had asked his aides to work out if this is "a time where we can have some constructive, productive conversations".

His aides later cancelled the talks.

Mr Obama's last scheduled trip to Asia as president has not been without incident: he was also caught up in a protocol row with hosts China over his arrival in Hangzhou.

A history of insults

This is not the first time President Duterte has employed vitriolic language against such prominent figures.

He has called Pope Francis the "son of a whore", Secretary of State John Kerry "crazy" and recently referred to the US ambassador to the Philippines a "gay son of a whore" .

Correspondents say that such colourful talk plays well with the domestic audience, but it could cost Mr Duterte on the international stage.

The UN has repeatedly condemned Mr Duterte's policies as a violation of human rights. In August, two UN human rights experts said Mr Duterte's directive for police and the public to kill suspected drug traffickers amounted to "incitement to violence and killing, a crime under international law".

This round of Asean talks comes against the backdrop of tensions over China's territorial ambitions in the South China Sea - the Philippines and the US are key players in that debate.

Key Verse: Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap.- Galatians 6:7

If you feel like you’re under pressure these days, you’re not alone. Satan is putting more pressure on more people right now than ever before. He’s pressuring us mentally, financially, emotionally and every other way he can. The pressure has gotten so great everywhere that governments don’t know what to do. Businesses don’t know what to do. Families don’t know. Churches don’t know.

But praise God, Jesus does! He says we can give our way right out from under any pressure the devil brings to bear.

Giving is always Jesus’ way out. Whenever there’s a need, He plants seed! In fact, in Mark 4, He compares the entire kingdom of God to a seed. Just think about the importance of seeds for a moment. Every living thing on this earth came from a seed. You came from a seed. Then you were born again from the seed of God’s Word. Jesus Himself was The Seed planted by God. God sowed Him in sacrifice. He came forth and grew up into many brethren.

So, when Satan puts you under pressure, go to Jesus and let Him tell you how and where to plant. If you’ll do it, that seed will grow up until it breaks the powers of darkness and lack. It will release you from the pressure the devil’s been putting on you.

I’ve seen it happen. When Jerry Savelle first began to work for my ministry, he didn’t have but one suit of clothes and one shirt with a pair of slacks to his name. He wore one, then the other, night after night to every service we held. He didn’t have the money to even think about buying another suit. I’m telling you, he was under pressure where clothes were concerned!

Then he found out about the principle of seed-faith and harvest. So, he went downtown in the city where we were in a meeting and found a fellow on the street who needed clothes and gave him some. Immediately people started giving Jerry clothes. It started in that meeting and they’ve been doing it ever since. Today, there are many preachers in Africa wearing Jerry Savelle suits! (Even if the sleeves and pant legs are way too short!) He’s still sowing and reaping the greatest clothes harvest I’ve ever seen.

If the devil’s pressuring you, don’t panic…plant! Plant your time. Plant your money. Plant the clothes off your back. When your harvest comes in, you can laugh and say, “Hey, Devil, who’s feeling the pressure now?”

SCRIPTURE: Let us make a little chamber … and it shall be, when he cometh to us, that he shall turn in thither. – 2 Kings 4:10

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: Your generosity can handle your calamity.

In the journey of life and destiny, one of the greatest powers to possess is the power of generosity.

In the Bible, people of great destiny were given to unusual generosity. For example, when you observe the lives of men like Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, Job, etc., you will realise that they were highly generous. There can be no great destiny on earth without true generosity. Generosity has also been discovered to be the cure for adversity.

Looking at the woman of Shunem, one product of generosity is clear: through generosity, the reproach of barrenness was terminated in her life.

Your generosity can handle your calamity. Your generosity can also handle your insult and shame.

Some time ago, a lady who had been barren heard a message I preached on generosity and decided to respond to it by taking baby clothes to orphanages as gifts. In response to her generosity, God intervened in her situation and she gave birth to a set of identical twins. Indeed, generosity terminated her reproach.

I prophesy to you; receive the grace to be generous in Jesus’ Name.

Remember this: Your generosity can handle your calamity.

1. Never take prophetic instructions for granted (Hosea 12:13).
2. Do as the passage says: be generous.

Bible Text: Psalm 48:1-14

Key Verse: "For this God is our God for ever and ever: he will be our guide even unto death" (Psalm 48:14).

The paths of life are a tangled web of attractions. They seek people's attention and suck them in, especially when such people are not careful enough to search for, and move in the right direction.

Many therefore, live in the vain belief that they are doing the right things, only to be hit at the end with disappointment that all their efforts, strivings, accomplishments have been utterly meaningless; that they had gone on the wrong path and lived a worthless life. The Israelites were never oblivious of the need for guidance and a Guide. The almighty God was their benefactor. However, from time to time in their checkered history, they willfully went astray. Yet, each time they sought a change of course, the Lord was always there to show them the way.

This psalm is written to extol the goodness of God in their lives. He was ever present with them, guiding them on the way to go. His presence provided them the security they needed, and brought salvation from their enemies. This was a cause of great joy for them. God was their defender. Many times, the city of Jerusalem was besieged by enemies. But after each battle, the Israelites habitually re-examine themselves and undertake an inspection tour of the city to strengthen its defences. At the end, they always praise God for the protection He provided them. They never ceased to marvel at His greatness.

There is need to appreciate God for all His past dealings in our lives - for salvation, victory and provisions and also realize that we stand no chance of making meaningful progress in life unless we allow Him to guide us. Without Him, we would take wrong decisions that may have serious consequences. Whether in the area of marriage, career or day-to-day activities, we must make God our Guide.

Thought for the day: God does not lead astray.

Memorise: The king shall joy in thy strength, O LORD; and in thy salvation how greatly shall he rejoice! – Psalms 21:1

Read: Daniel 4:30-35 (KJV)

30 The king spake, and said, Is not this great Babylon, that I have built for the house of the kingdom by the might of my power, and for the honour of my majesty?

31 While the word was in the king's mouth, there fell a voice from heaven, saying, O king Nebuchadnezzar, to thee it is spoken; The kingdom is departed from thee.

32 And they shall drive thee from men, and thy dwelling shall be with the beasts of the field: they shall make thee to eat grass as oxen, and seven times shall pass over thee, until thou know that the most High ruleth in the kingdom of men, and giveth it to whomsoever he will.

33 The same hour was the thing fulfilled upon Nebuchadnezzar: and he was driven from men, and did eat grass as oxen, and his body was wet with the dew of heaven, till his hairs were grown like eagles' feathers, and his nails like birds' claws.

34 And at the end of the days I Nebuchadnezzar lifted up mine eyes unto heaven, and mine understanding returned unto me, and I blessed the most High, and I praised and honoured him that liveth for ever, whose dominion is an everlasting dominion, and his kingdom is from generation to generation:

35 And all the inhabitants of the earth are reputed as nothing: and he doeth according to his will in the army of heaven, and among the inhabitants of the earth: and none can stay his hand, or say unto him, What doest thou?

Bible in One Year: Jeremiah 25-26, Psalms 50:16-23

To be in charge or in control is the exercise of authority and restraint over individuals, events, situations, or circumstances of life. The Bible stresses the fact that God is sovereign over all creation; He has absolute authority and control over everything in Heaven and on earth. But a limited degree of control over creation is delegated to humanity. However, man has gained tremendous knowledge of the universe over time and this has translated to an increase level of authority and control over situations and circumstances in life. Man has acquired advanced knowledge in computer science, geography, medicine, mathematics, genetic engineering, archaeology, and space technology, to mention but few. As a result of these achievements, humanity has wrongly assumed that they are the master of the universe and therefore in ultimate charge.

Contrary to this human belief, the Bible teaches that God controls the affairs of Heaven and earth. Deuteronomy 4:39 says:

“Know therefore this day, and consider it in thine heart, that the LORD he is God in heaven above, and upon the earth beneath: there is none else.”

Also, Daniel 4:35 says;

“And all the inhabitants of the earth are reputed as nothing: and he doeth according to his will in the army of heaven, and among the inhabitants of the earth: and none can stay his hand, or say unto him, What doest thou?”

From these passages, it is clear that God is unquestionable; He does as He pleases in the distribution of His mercies, blessings, and favour. He gives strength, He makes great, He promotes, He gives knowledge and wisdom, all at His pleasure.

The Lord controls human hearts, He controls time and seasons, He removes kings and sets up others in their place. He controls the weather and fixes human destiny (Daniel 2:22). He is the source of every creation, the Fountain of life, the Channel of goodness from whom all blessings flow. All hail the true Master of the universe, the Redeemer of human kind and the Saviour of the whole world. Matthew 25:34 says:

“Then shall the King say unto them on his right hand, Come, ye blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world:”

Prayer Point: Father, please silence every opposition to your authority as the master of the universe in my life in Jesus’ name.
