These Benefits Of Kissing Will Shock You

Benefits of kissing
Kissing is one of the most intimate acts we perform as human beings. We kiss to demonstrate affection, to demonstrate desire and to increase desire. Darwin wrote about kissing and kissing-like behaviors. These include rubbing noses and sniffing the other person. Usually we talk about using the lips or face. According to Darwin, the desire to kiss is innate. We are born with this desire.

1. Kissing lowers stress.

It decreases the stress hormone cortisol and increases serotonin levels in the brain. Kissing has also been measured to lower anxiety and has similar benefits to meditation.

2. Kissing makes us happier.

It improves our mood by increasing endorphins, which are our feel-good hormones.

“Happiness is like a kiss - it feels best when you give it to someone else.”  ~Author Unknown

3. Kissing keeps us healthy.
Benefit of Kissing
It improves our immunity by releasing antibodies that kill bacteria. And kissing helps us prevent cavities by increasing saliva that washes our teeth. It has also been shown that our saliva secretes natural antibiotics when we kiss.

“Never a lip is curved with pain? That can't be kissed into smile again.”? ~Brete Harte

4. Kissing calms us down and promotes pleasure.

It increases levels of oxytocin otherwise known as the "love hormone" which calms us. Kissing also reduces pain through our saliva which contains a kind of anesthetic and increases pleasure by releasing dopamine.

"Your hugs and kisses are like the stars that light up my life when things get dark." – Author Unknown

5. Kissing strengthens our relationships.

It promotes togetherness and couples who kiss regularly live five years longer than those who don’t.

Breaking: We are not ready to dialogue with Buhari-led government - Avengers

Breaking News
Niger Delta Avengers, on Wednesday, denied agreeing to enter into dialogue with the federal government for a possible ceasefire in the region.

The militant group which has claimed responsibility for major attacks on oil facilities in the region in recent times also denied knowing the self-acclaimed spokesman for the Dialogue Group, Mr. Ballantyne Agiri.

Agiri had in a statement issued on Wednesday in Abuja claimed that the group had agreed to enter dialogue with the FG.

But the spokesman for the group, Mudoch Agbinibo, while replying to an enquiry by our correspondent, dismissed the idea saying there was no iota of truth in Agiri’s claim.

It stressed that “we are not going into any peace or dialogue talk.”

It added, “That report is not from us. We are not in any form of dialogue agreement with anybody. It’s like the Government wants to dialogue with themselves.”

The group later went on to their twitter handle, operated by the spokesperson, Agbinibo, to also deny the purported agreement for talks.

They also denied knowing the said Agiri, saying “Who is Mr. Ballantyne Agiri the claimed dialogue group spokesman? We don’t know you and please stop fooling the general public.

“We are not ready for any negotiation or dialogue with the federal government.”

Rio Olympic: Bad news! Germany beat Nigeria to Olympics football final

Nigeria News
Germany on Wednesday defeated Nigeria 2-0 in the semi-finals of the Olympic football event, ending the country’s hope of a repeat of their 1996 feat at the games.

The Germans grabbed their first goal in the 9th minute when a Serge Gnabry’s clever pass into the box fooled the Nigerian defence for Max Meyer to latch on to.

The 20-year-old Schalke 04 attacking midfielder squared the ball for Lukas Klostermann to apply the finish with just a tap-in.

Substitute Niels Petersen grabbed the second goal in the 88th minute to seal victory for the Germans.

WOW!!! You should have stayed in Africa, a drunk bikini woman hurl abuse on young black Americans

World news

A bikini-dressed woman who began hurling racist slurs at a group of black youths has sparked online outrage.

The abhorrent rant saw the woman launch into a tirade ranging from drug use to Martin Luther King.

The public outburst was captured by one of the black youths targeted in the verbal assault.

Since the video, in which the woman hurled multiple discriminatory remarks and insults at the youths in front of her own daughter, was posted online it has been viewed hundreds of thousands of times, triggering an angry reaction from many viewers.

The unidentified woman's outburst took place in March in Tallahassee, Florida.

She can heard telling the group of black teens: "You should have stayed in Africa.

"You can go back there if you want.

"And take your last names with you."

The girl filming the entire outburst tells her friends to hold back from saying anything in response and avoid stooping to her level.

Following this, the bikini-clad mother, who repeatedly slurs her words, only escalates her racist rhetoric.

She says: “Martin Luther King was a s**t who was f****** white people."

During the entire ordeal, the woman's daughter can be seen on the phone calling for help.

Towards the end of the video, the daughter tries to grab hold of her mother.

She repeatedly asks her: “Can you stop. Can you just stop, please."

The black teens reply that "it is ridiculous that your own child has to tell you to stop".

Before the video cuts out mid-speech, the woman continues to hurl racist abuse at the young men and women.

She then says the black youths are just "n****** wanting to be white, but you’ll never be white".

Racial tensions in America are currently high amid a spate of police shootings and tensions between law enforcement and members of the black community.

The state of Milwaukee had to recently enforce a curfew following riots over a fatal police shooting of a black man in the city.

End of The Road For 3 Female Nigerian Wrestlers In 2016 Olympic Games

Genesis fell 5-0 to Poland’s Iwona Matkowska in women’s freestyle 48kg, Reuben lost 4-1 to Canadian wrestler, Dorothy Yeats in the women’s freestyle 69kg, while Adeniyi also Lost 3-1 to Finland’s Petra Olli in the women’s freestyle 58kg.

Meanwhile, attention has been shifted to other Nigerian wrestlers as the quest to win medals continues for Team Nigeria at the Summer Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

Warning: Nigeria to experience annular eclipse on September 1

Breaking News
An annular eclipse will occur in all parts of the country with different degrees of totality on Thursday September 1st, 2016.

This is according to a statement released by the Head, Media and Corporate Communications of National Space Research and Development Agency (NASRDA), Felix Ale yesterday August 16th.

According to the statement, the highest degree of obscurity in Nigeria during the annular eclipse would be in the Southern part of Nigeria, particularly in Lagos, where it was expected to have 80 per cent obscurity, while the lowest degree of obscurity would be about 45 per cent and this would be observed in the Northern part of the country, particularly in Sokoto. in Abuja, the annular eclipse will be observed at about 60%.

The eclipse is expected to occur between 7.15 a.m. and 10.03 a.m, with slight variations in actual timing across the country. In Lagos, the first contact will occur at about 7.15 a.m, while the maximum eclipse will occur around 8.30 a.m. and will end by 10.03 a.m.

The eclipse is expected to commence in Abuja around 7.17 a.m, with maximum eclipse to be recorded at about 8.32 a.m. and the eclipse will end around 10.00 a.m. The statement warns that the eclipse is not a spiritual issue but a natural occurrence that can be accurately predicted by science. It warned that nobody should observe eclipse with naked eyes as such act can lead to permanent damage to the eyes.

The Space agency appealed to the general public not to panic or attach any mystical interpretations to this event.

An annular eclipse occurs when the sun and moon are exactly in line, but the apparent size of the moon is smaller than that of the sun, hence, the sun appears as a very bright ring or annulus surrounding the dark disk of the moon.

Relationship: 5 Important Signs That Your Partner May Not Be Good in a Crisis

Few times the very things we find attractive in someone may actually be warning signs that they may not be good for us in the long run.

Those high expectations that make him a success in business may turn to unnecessary pressure in a crisis. That dramatic flair that makes him exciting, may actually keep him from being a comfort to you in a time of need. Here are 5 warning signs that your guy may not be good in a crisis.

He can’t go with the flow.
How does he react when things don’t go according to plan? When you get stuck in traffic does he freak out? How about when plans change at the last minute? What does he do when you’re late? If your partner sweats the small stuff, don’t assume he’ll rise to the occasion when there’s a real crisis. Instead, what you see is probably what you’ll get. Most people don’t change personalities during a crisis. In fact, most revert to type. The guy who freaks out when there’s a change of plan, may not be able to handle the uncertainties of a health crisis, or have the flexibility he needs to be a great parent.

He has friends or family he chooses not to speak to anymore.
This is a big red flag. Anyone who is capable of cutting people out of their lives has the ability to see the world as black and white. The truth is that relationships, and life in general, have a lot of gray matter. The more forgiving someone is, the more empathy they have and the more supportive they are likely to be. Make sure you get the story on why he’s pushed someone away and ask yourself if you’d do the same.

He is a perfectionist

There’s a big difference between someone with high expectations and a perfectionist. A perfectionist is defined in Merriman Webster dictionary as: a disposition to regard anything short of perfection as unacceptable; especially: the setting of unrealistically demanding goals accompanied by a disposition to regard failure to achieve them as unacceptable and a sign of personal worthlessness. Need I say more? When a crisis hits, sometimes all you can do is get through the day. A perfectionist can’t let go of expectations and that pressure can be debilitating for someone going through a difficult time.

He talks much more about himself than you to his friends and family.

A supportive partner will be excited to share your accomplishments. He will be sure to mention how well you’re doing at work, or even some small thing that you’ve done that he’s proud of. An unsupportive partner will fail to mention both the big and small things that happen in your world. Instead, he will focus only on what he himself has done. This type of partner may resent the attention you receive during a crisis.

He’s dramatic.

If your guy is the type who seems to create drama wherever he goes, a crisis may bring out the chance for even more. Instead of being the calm in your storm, he may bring on the thunder and add to your emotional burden.

So, now that you see the flags, what do you do? You may not need to kick your guy to the curb right now (unless you checked off every single one of these traits), but it’s good to take stock. Ask yourself how YOU are in a crisis? What do you need during your times of need? Maybe you are the strong one and you like it that way. Or maybe you get tired of always being the one who has to be stoic. Maybe the more intense he gets, the calmer you get and his demeanor doesn’t stress you out. If, on the other hand, you wind each other up, it may be time to think about making a change.

CBB: Why Heavy D Evicted from Celebrity Big Brother House

Still on Celebrity Big Brother House, Heavy D has been evicted from Celebrity Big Brother.

Emma Willis named the Storage Hunters UK star the fourth housemate to be booted out by the public.

Heavy was up against Lewis Bloor, Renee Graziano and 'eternally' nominated Stephen Bear.

Despite boos for a few of the housemates it was the self-style 'Boominator's name that Emma called.

Emma read a lost list of reasons that the housemates didn't like him and Heavy said that they were all "good points".

The reality star said that he wanted to "shake the house up" and add a "bit of spice" to the house.

"A bit of cumin," were his exact words.

Generosity- The Pathway to the Blessing Covenant by Dr. Paul Enenche

Topic: Generosity- The Pathway to the Blessing Covenant

SCRIPTURE: And I will say to my soul, Soul, thou hast much goods laid up for many years; take thine ease, eat, drink, and be merry. But God said unto him, Thou fool, this night thy soul shall be required of thee: then whose shall those things be, which thou hast provided? – Luke 12:19-20

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: Receiving without releasing is dying without knowing.

From our anchor Scripture, we see that it is foolishness to have prosperity without generosity. We also see that refusal to be a distributor qualifies a man for destruction. When a person has decided to store up things for himself alone, he has positioned himself for destruction; he is not qualified to walk in the Blessing Covenant.

Receiving without releasing is dying without knowing. When a man takes in oxygen and refuses to release carbon dioxide, he is preparing to be wheeled to the mortuary.

So, releasing is the purpose of receiving. Before a person can walk in the Blessing Covenant, he must be ready to give towards Kingdom projects and the benefit of humanity.

Now, why does the covenant walk with God demand giving?
1.To break the grip of mammon over the life of the blessed. There are many rich people who are slaves to their money because they are unable to give. Generosity breaks the back of covetousness.

2.To confirm that our faith is not in our resources but in God, our Supplier (Psalm 23:1-2). Anyone who has faith in money does not give out money.

Remember this: receiving without releasing is dying without knowing.

1. Determine to be a privileged giver towards Kingdom projects, evangelism etc.
2. Put smiles on the faces of the less privileged, orphans and widows.

PRAYER: O LORD, I receive the grace to be committed towards giving for Kingdom projects and evangelism. Help me to affect lives with my resources, in Jesus’ Name.

He then told her that he wanted to kiss her lips, and he didn't mean the ones on her face.

Lewis, who was wearing just a pair of tight black shorts, then caressed Marnie's legs as she smiled with excitement.

Read what happened to a doctor after removing patient's kidney

Adamawa doctor arrested for removing patient’s kidney

The Adamawa State Police Command has arrested a medical doctor, Hassan Yakubu, for his alleged role in the removal of the kidney of a 24-year-old male patient in his clinic.

The arrest of the medical doctor, the police said, was to help with their investigations into the alleged theft of the kidney of the 24-year-old male patient levelled against the doctor.

The command’s Public Relations Officer, Othman Abubakar, confirmed the arrest of the doctor on Tuesday in Yola.

Othman said the doctor was interrogated by officers of the criminal investigations department of the command.

The incident, which The PUNCH gathered had now left the 24-year-old victim, Isa Hamma, in a life – threatening condition, followed alleged medical lapses on the part of the medical doctor who treated him for stomach complications.

Isa, whose kidney, according to his relative, Umaru Hammanseyo, was allegedly removed, owing to medical errors on the part of the doctor, had been placed on a weekly dialysis at the Federal Medical Centre, Gombe.

According to Hammanseyo, the victim’s uncle, Yakubu, who treated Isa, at his Jimeta Clinic, for stomach complications, ended up operating the victim on July 8 but allegedly removed his kidney in the process.

Three days after the operation, Umaru said Isa could not urinate.

The complications further degenerated with the face and legs of the victim becoming swollen which prompted the family to return to the accused doctor who later referred them to the Federal Medical Centre in Gombe.

Hammanseyo said it was at the Gombe hospital that medical officials working with the Federal Medical Centre told them that Isa’s kidney had been “removed.”

Unbelievable!!! President Buhari orders NNPC to search for oil in North

Breaking News
The Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation has received an express order from President Muhammadu Buhari to explore for oil in the North for the second time in three weeks.

President Buhari at this time directed the national oil firm to commence exploration activities in the Benue Trough. The Benue Trough is a major geological formation underlying a large part of Nigeria, extending about 1,000km North-East from the Bight of Benin to Lake Chad.

The Group Managing Director, NNPC, Dr. Maikanti Baru, disclosed the President’s directive on the oil expolration in the North while receiving a delegation from the Benue State Government at the corporation’s headquarters in Abuja.

About three weeks ago, the President had directed the corporation to speed up its prospect for oil in the region, specifically in the Chad Basin and Kolmani River, following the reported discovery of hydrocarbons by Shell in the area.

The 19 northern state governors are also fired up about the prospect of oil production in their domain as they have hired a British firm through the Northern Nigeria Development Company, which they jointly own, to carry out the exploration activities.

But energy analysts and several socio-cultural and other interest groups on Tuesday expressed divergent views on the pressure by the President on the NNPC as regards oil exploration in the North.

The NNPC GMD, in a statement from the corporation on Tuesday, said the new directive was in line with the current efforts to guarantee energy security of the country.

Baru said, “Very close home, we have exploration activities on the Frontier Basin, that is in the Chad; and there are some areas close to the Kolmani River where Shell has made indicative discovery of hydrocarbons and Mr. President has directed me to go into that area to further explore the magnitude and prospects of those finds.

“We are taking steps to get into those regions. We will reinvigorate the frontier exploration and see how they collaborate with the Northern Nigeria Development Company that is holding Block 809 where some of the finds have been found. We will also do the same at the Department of Petroleum Resources for the other blocks that have not been assigned, and work towards proving the prospects of that region.”

But the Ijaw Youth Council and Urhobo Monitoring and Development Group while reacting to the presidential directive said it was a good initiative but came at a wrong time.

The IYC, an umbrella body for the Ijaw youths worldwide, said that the timing for the directive was wrong because of the prevailing situation in the oil industry at the international market, which made such a venture economically unwise.

A statement signed by the spokesman for the group, Eric Omare, said one would have expected that President Buhari-led government should focus on diversifying the nation’s ailing economy, especially areas where the different regions had comparative advantage over the other.

“Ordinary, the IYC would be excited by not just a Presidential directive to explore for oil in any part of the North but discovery of oil in the North. This is so because we strongly believe that the struggle of the people of the Niger Delta region for equitable distribution of oil money would become a reality once oil is found in the North as well.”

On its part, the National President of the Urhobo Monitoring and Development Group, Kingsley Oberuruaria, posited that while the directive was good, it was a self-serving step to further annihilate the people of the region from benefitting from its God-given natural resources.

Oberuruaria explained that the desire of the President was to cut the region out of the country’s scheme of things once oil production fully came alive in that region while the Niger Delta, which had been feeding the nation, would forever be neglected.

The Niger Delta youth leader posited that such a presidential directive should be put into various ailing industries in the country such as the Delta Steel Company in Aladja, Delta State, which he said was capable of employing hundreds of thousands of unemployed Nigerian youths.

“I’m sure this directive was as a result of the prevailing crisis in the Niger Delta region. President Buhari has been looking for ways to cut off the region instead of being resolute to develop the region which has been neglected by every successive government,” he said.

But two prominent leaders of the pan-Yoruba socio-cultural organisation, Afenifere, Chief Sehinde Arogbofa and Yinka Odumakin, differed on the issue.

Arogbofa, who is the Secretary-General of the association, said it would be part of the way to restructure the country, which the association had been clamouring for.

He said, “There is nothing wrong if they find oil in the North. That is why we are calling for restructuring; if that is his (Buhari) own restructuring agenda, it is okay. We already have oil in the South and if he orders for prospect of oil in the North, there is nothing wrong in that .”

But the group’s spokesman, Odumakin, said it was a wasted effort. He recalled, “Mr. Alan Lennox-Boyde, the Secretary of State for the Colonies in a memorandum on Nigerian Constitutional Conference wrote in 1958: The North fears and dislikes the more educated Southerners and if they were not economically bound to the federation, they would be glad to be quit of it. What he stated has not changed much till date and this may explain the desperate search for oil in the North at a time oil is becoming worthless.”

Also, the President, Campaign for Democracy, Bako Usman, said the President was not getting good advice.

He said, “What is worth doing, they say, is worth doing well. We as a people need to acknowledge the fact that this government needs an effective economic direction. For now, most people around Mr. President on the pay roll of taxpayers money are just but ill Advisers.

The Pan-northern socio-cultural group, Arewa Consultative Forum, said it was not aware of the  Presidential pronouncement on oil exploration in the region.

The National Publicity Secretary of the forum, Muhammad Ibrahim, told one of our correspondents in Kaduna on Tuesday that he was not aware of Buhari’s order to the NNPC to prospect for oil in the region.

The Head of Energy Research, Ecobank Capital, Mr. Dolapo Oni, said the move must have been informed by the need to reduce the reliance on the Niger Delta and reduce the country’s vulnerability to attacks in the region.

He said, “But, at a time when we don’t have enough money to run the economy, even though oil servicing charges are a lot lesser now due to the drop in oil prices, it is still not the right time to dedicate a large amount of money to search for oil in the North.

“Ideally, the idea will be a concession and allow companies do whatever they need to do. If we want to do 2D and 3D seismic, we can do it, gather that data and allow oil companies to come and do their own search. But if we are dedicating the NNPC’s scarce resources to going beyond the 2D and 3D, I think it may not be the best of time.”

The Project Director, Uquo Gas Field Development, a joint venture project by Frontier Oil Limited and Seven Energy, Mr. Abdullahi Bukar, described the renewed efforts towards exploring for oil in the Benue Trough and Chad Basin as a very good development.

He said, “I hope that a well-thought-out policy will be put in place because anything that will increase Nigeria’s oil and gas reserves is very welcome.”

The Chief Executive Officer, Cowry Asset Management Limited, Mr. Johnson Chukwu, said the discovery of oil in Niger Republic must have been a major boost for Nigeria to continue to prospect for oil in the Sahel region.

Describing the effort to diversify the nation’s oil and gas production as a good move, he said, “It depends on the level of resources being committed to it. I think it is something the government needs to be very circumspect in committing resources to it. It is very likely that what would be achieved in the Chad Basin will be marginal deposits. So, I don’t think the government is going to be too bullish in terms of the resources it is going to commit to such effort.”

The Director-General, West African Institute for Financial and Economic Management, Prof. Akpan Ekpo, said, “There is nothing wrong in getting more oil. But my worry is the dependence on non-renewable resources without adding value to it.”

Rio Olympic Emotional Moment: Silver medalist burst into tears as Olympic teammate proposes

Rio Olympic

"I didn't know he would propose today and I didn't expect myself to marry myself out so early."

An emotional moment a Chinese diver bursts into tears after missing out on gold as her boyfriend went down on one knee during the medal ceremony.

He Zi was visibly gutted with being awarded the silver medal after losing out on the top spot in the three-metre diving competition to Shi Tingmao on Sunday.

However, her disappointment was quickly replaced with unbridled joy on the podium as her boyfriend and teammate Qin Kai turned up with a red rose.

Interrupting the medal ceremony, the 30-year-old diver pulled out a diamond ring and asked Zi to marry him.

Rio Olympic
Bursting into tears, the silver medalist accepted the proposal as she threw herself into his arms for a hug.

Speaking after the touching moment, 25-year-old Zi said: "I didn't know he would propose today and I didn't expect myself to marry myself out so early.

"I saw him during the afternoon and he seemed to be memorising something, so I asked him 'what are you doing?' and he said he was singing.

"I've forgotten most of what he's said (during the proposal), but it's largely what you can expect like promises, but what touched me the most is that he said he was willing to be bullied by me for life."

Tingmao, who beat her newly-engaged rival to gold, revealed she had known about Mr Kai's plans to propose during the Rio Games.

She said: "I'm really happy for them, because these years, be it career or relationships-wise, they have had to face a lot of pressure.

Topic: Give God a Way In

Key Verses: And I will rebuke the devourer for your sakes, and he shall not destroy the fruits of your ground; neither shall your vine cast her fruit before the time in the field, saith the Lord of hosts. And all nations shall call you blessed: for ye shall be a delightsome land. - Malachi 3:11-12

God is vitally interested in your finances. He wants to multiply and protect them. But He won’t be able to—unless you open the door for Him to do it.

How? Through tithing.

When you tithe, you give God the legal right to intervene in your financial affairs, to bless you richly, and to defend you against the destruction the devil brings. When you tithe, you lay a foundation for success and abundance. You establish deposits with God you can draw on when you need them.

But don’t wait until your back is against the wall to start. Begin now. Start developing your faith when things are going well by meditating on the blessings God’s Word promises you as a tither. Learn to act on that Word now, and when Satan tries to put you in a financial corner, he’ll fail. His power over you financially will have already been broken. Because you’ve established yourself on the covenant of God, Satan will have no chance against you. God will rebuke him for your sake.

If you haven’t yet opened the door and given God a way in to your finances, don’t wait any longer. Do it today. Then, when the pressures of tomorrow come, you’ll be prepared and protected by the special privileges that are guaranteed to those who tithe.

Rio Olympic: Brazilian diver ‘kicks teammate out for having 'marathon sex session' with another athlete

Rio Olympic

A Brazilian synchronised diving team allegedly split after one of the girls kicked her teammate out of their shared bedroom to have sex with another athlete.

Ingrid Oliveira allegedly slept with fellow Brazilian Pedro Goncalves the night before she was due to dive with partner Giovanna Pedroso.

The duo came last in the 10m synchronised dive the day after the “marathon” romp – with Ms Pedroso reportedly “furious” at being banished from their shared bedroom.
Rio Olympic
Their performance in the event was labelled “pathetic” by local media and the pair soon announced their split.

Ms Pedroso told Brazil’s O Globo: “After the Olympics I will focus on my individual.
Rio Olympic

“It’s good because I will not need to depend on anyone. Then I will be able to improve and evolve more.”

She claimed the two had argued over diving techniques.

Ms Oliveira confirmed the pair had fallen out, saying: “We had a fight and were not talking. From today I will not dive with her.”

Mr Goncalves refused to comment on the rumours.
Rio Olympic
Behind the scenes, the Olympics are reportedly a hot bed of sexual activity.

The International Olympic Committee has provided 450,000 condoms to the 11,000 athletes at Rio, more than any other Games.

And in a since-deleted story for the Daily Beast, a reporter went on dating apps to arrange “hook ups” with Olympic athletes.

The piece was slammed for outing several athletes as gay – including some from countries where homosexuality is illegal.

Text: Job 9:12-24

Key Verse: "For he breaketh me with a tempest, and multiplieth my wounds without cause" (Job 9:17).

With unregenerate man, power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely. But with a holy and righteous God, wielding an awesome and overwhelming power tempered with love, mercy, justice and wisdom, it is impossible for corrupting influences to come into play. In his suffering, Job acknowledges this greatness of the power of the Almighty to do anything. But unfortunately, he displays a limited and flawed understanding of this power. He believes God will destroy people wilfully.

Such is this dim view that Job even believes that the righteous Judge would not spare the righteous on the day of His wrath. Man encounters challenges allowed by God or sent by Him to either chastise us for our wrongdoing or to grow and mature us for fruitful service in His Kingdom. Our contemplation of these trials must not be seen from the narrow prism of suffering. Would a woman in labour lament she is suffering? Job is right in ascribing absolute power to the Almighty. He is also right in stating that we cannot question God's wisdom when He decides to punish the wicked who refuses to repent on His conditions. But the Scripture does not support the position that God would multiply a person's "wounds (sufferings) without a cause".

God challenges us to "reason together" with Him and plead our case so He can show us mercy. It is the great love and compassion flowing from His power that enabled Him listen to the intercessory pleas of Abraham, Moses, Samuel, Daniel and the Apostles of the early Church. It was that same love and mercy that finally led Him to send Jesus Christ His only begotten Son to break the wall of partition between man and his Creator. Trust Him and you will never be disappointed.

Thought for the day: God is mercy and love personified: repose your confidence in Him.

Rio Olympic: Twins Finish Marathon Hand in Hand, but drew sharp criticism

Rio Olympic
The Olympics are as much about what warms the heart or initiates debate as who wins the medals. But what warms the heart or initiates debate can be a matter of perspective in a sprawling event that brings together more than 200 nations and territories.

There was little division on Tuesday in the Olympic Stadium, when two runners — Abbey D’Agostino of the United States and Nikki Hamblin of New Zealand — offered a helping hand to each other after a collision in the 5,000 meters and then urged each other on to the finish.

“I mean, that girl is the Olympic spirit right there,” Hamblin said afterward, speaking to reporters about D’Agostino.

But on Sunday in the women’s marathon, when the German twins and training partners Anna and Lisa Hahner decided — spontaneously, they insist — to join hands as they crossed the finish line deep in the pack and far from the medals, they quickly drew sharp criticism.

German track and field officials accused them of publicity seeking and treating the Olympic marathon “like a fun run.”

This is not just a German point of view, of course, but it does reflect the range of expectations as athletes navigate the cultural norms that relate to competition and sportsmanship.

The Egyptian judoka Islam El Shehaby, who refused to shake the hand of his Israeli opponent Or Sasson, was following his nation’s standards — one that Olympic officials expressly reject. He was ejected from the Games.

Memorise: Seest thou a man diligent in his business? he shall stand before kings; he shall not stand before mean men. – Proverbs 22:29

Read: 2 Kings 2:9-15 (KJV)

9 And it came to pass, when they were gone over, that Elijah said unto Elisha, Ask what I shall do for thee, before I be taken away from thee. And Elisha said, I pray thee, let a double portion of thy spirit be upon me.

10 And he said, Thou hast asked a hard thing: nevertheless, if thou see me when I am taken from thee, it shall be so unto thee; but if not, it shall not be so.

11 And it came to pass, as they still went on, and talked, that, behold, there appeared a chariot of fire, and horses of fire, and parted them both asunder; and Elijah went up by a whirlwind into heaven.

12 And Elisha saw it, and he cried, My father, my father, the chariot of Israel, and the horsemen thereof. And he saw him no more: and he took hold of his own clothes, and rent them in two pieces.

13 He took up also the mantle of Elijah that fell from him, and went back, and stood by the bank of Jordan;

14 And he took the mantle of Elijah that fell from him, and smote the waters, and said, Where is the LORD God of Elijah? and when he also had smitten the waters, they parted hither and thither: and Elisha went over.

15 And when the sons of the prophets which were to view at Jericho saw him, they said, The spirit of Elijah doth rest on Elisha. And they came to meet him, and bowed themselves to the ground before him.

Bible in One Year: Isaiah 30:18-33:24, Psalms 36

Some people wrongly believe that God will promote them irrespective of their attitude in life. God is not a God of mediocrity, laziness or indolence. God is interested in promoting those who make good effort in their endeavours. Joseph was not just promoted in the house of Portiphar, his master saw mark of excellence and diligence in him before he was put in charge of everything. Those who think God will favour them despite being lazy, dormant, inactive and lethargic are only wasting their time. There are people who have privileges but refuse to use them. Joseph utilized the privilege he had in his master’s house and he was in charge. He also utilized the privilege he had in the prison and he was put in charge. This attitude of hard work and diligence continued with him until space was made for him at the top.

There are many people who have remained in the same spot for a long time because they have refused to engage their God given potentials. They want God to provide food for them and cook it and also put it in their mouths. You must be able to strike the iron while it is red hot. Maximizing the opportunities given to you by God can change the story of your life and attract uncommon promotion to you.

If one knows how to work efficiently, he will have no problem getting to the top. He will be able to provide for himself and his family. Industrious people will always rule over those that are lazy. What were the other sons of the prophet doing when Elisha was following Elijah? They were making mockery of Elisha, reminding him that his master will soon be taken away. Even though all of them were sons of the prophet they did not see Elijah as their own master. They told Elisha that ‘his master’ will soon be taken away. The anointing you do not respect will never work for you. The office you do not respect can never get you. They were all there viewing from afar. They refused to step out of their comfort zone. Complacency had taken over their hearts.

Elisha followed his master from Gilgal to Bethel and from Bethel to Jericho and from Jericho to Jordan but the others just viewed from afar. Are you like one of the 50 sons of the prophet? When you see your leader pursuing a vision, you just stay and watch from afar? Are you one of those who discourage others from putting their best into what their superior are doing? Are you one of those who specialize in pulling down others because of their promotion is a threat to you? You have to have a rethink of heart if you don’t want to remain in the valley of life. God is interested in blessing you and promoting you but you have to convince Him that you desire that promotion.

If you are hard-working, there is no demon that can stop your progress in life, but God will never bless the lazy. You must be up and doing. You should be diligent in all your duties. It takes diligence to get to the top and the same diligence is required to sustain your place at the top. You must challenge yourself to rise above every limitation and barrier and work your way to the very top through hard work.

Key Point: It is the soul of the diligent that will eventually be made fat.
