Breaking!!! Iraq to hang 36 ISIS fighters for massacre of 1,700 captives

Breaking News
Thirty-six Islamic State fighters are set to be executed in Iraq this week for the notorious massacre of 1,700 soldiers.

The Iraqi president has approved the mass hanging despite protests from human rights groups.

Some of the soldiers in Camp Speicher survived the onslaught on 12 June 2014 and told horror stories of how their colleagues were rounded up for slaughter.

During the horrifying killing, ISIS militants packed hundreds of men into trucks and told them they would be returned to their families – but instead they were taken to a nearby riverbank, lined up and mercilessly shot at close range.

Photos from the scene showed masked ISIS fighters tying up the cadets and firing at them as they lay down in mass graves in the desert.

Thirty-six of the 40 militants convicted of the killing in Camp Speicher in Tikrit will be killed this week, Iraqi authorities confirmed.

President Fuad Masum approved the executions after video from the massacre emerged showing detailed evidence of the men involved.

But human rights groups claim the case against the defendants relied on confessions extracted under torture and their lawyer failed to properly challenge the evidence during two separate trials.

Breaking: Someone should tell Buhari, he's no longer a military man - Oba of Lagos

- Buhari should know he’s no longer a military man

The Oba of Lagos on Monday advised President Muhammadu Buhari to be civil in his approach to governance, saying he should realise that he is no longer a military man.

Even as the monarch said former Goodluck Jonathan could not be totally blamed for the nation’s current economic crisis, he sought support for President Buhari and expressed confidence in the Federal Government’s Economic Management Team led by Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo to salvage the economy.

He spoke in Lagos during the unveiling of SunTrust Bank Limited, the first commercial bank to be licensed by the Central Bank of Nigeria in 15 years.

Akiolu said, “All of us just have to support the President and I advise him to know that he is no more a military man. I am not afraid to say that. The measures they are taking on the rot of the past, honestly whether they like it or not, it was not totally the fault of former President Goodluck Jonathan. I don’t hide the fact that he (Jonathan) is my personal friend.”

The President, Dangote Group, Aliko Dangote; Chairman, Forte Oil, Femi Otedola; and Chairman, Senate Committee on Appropriation, Danjuma Goje, were among top dignitaries that witnessed the unveiling of SunTrust Bank.

Dangote, who was a special guest of honour at the event, described as a bold move the decision by the Board of Directors and management of SunTrust Bank to open a new bank at a time the global banking industry and major economies were facing serious challenges.

The lack of growth in major economies, declining commodity prices, and weakness in the Nigerian economy, according to the Africa’s richest man, are some of the challenges facing today’s businesses.

He, however, noted that the challenges could be converted into opportunities by forward-looking and proactive companies and businessmen.

Shocking!!! Nigerian Soldiers Pluck Out Eye Of Road Safety Official Who Pleaded Mercy For Road Victim Being Tortured

Breaking News
An official of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Segun Enikuemehin, who dared to ask some military men who were assaulting a civilian to desist from such a dastardly act is currently at the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LUTH) with one of his eyes totally damaged.

The incident occurred on Sunday afternoon when Mr. Enikuemehin came upon the military men beating a harmless civilian.  Convinced that the military officials would beat the man to death if nothing was done, he reportedly walked up the angry soldiers and pleaded that they let the man go or hand him over to the police if he had done something illegal.

The military men would not take such effrontery lightly as they descended on the Good Samaritan and started beating him as well.

But not even the beating from the soldiers would discourage him, and he managed amidst his own beating to rescue the already battered man, whom he then took to the Adekunle Police station at Ebute Metta.

Our sources say that thereafter, Mr. Enikuemehin led the police back to the venue of the incident. Upon sighting him in the company of the policemen, the soldiers, who were by that time already cooling off at a nearby beer parlor, became even enraged and descended on Mr. Enikuemehin, during which his eye was plucked out.

The damaged eye was reportedly picked from the ground and the man rushed down to the General Hospital.  Rejected upon arrival by that hospital, the blinded man reportedly asked that he be taken to LUTH.

Meanwhile, the soldiers, upon realizing what they had done, were said to have taken to their heels but were overtaken by residents and handed over to the police.

The story got messier when a relative of the stabbed Federal Road Safety Officer went back to the police station only to find that the military men had already been released by the police. While still digesting that development, one of the accused soldiers walked into the station in the company of a senior officer who was identified as Captain Okoli.

Speaking to SaharaReporters, Mr. Enikuemehin’s Uncle, Prince Ojatunwse Oluwajoba, said the DPO of Adekunle Police Station informed him when he got there that the soldier who stabbed his nephew had been handed over to the military authorities. He said that soldier, who had been in civilian clothes when the incident happened, arrived at the police station with Captain Okoli to collect his identity card and other personal effects that had been taken from him at the station.

According to Mr. Oluwajobaa, doctors at LUTH are now saying his nephew’s left eye has been completely damaged and that the second eye might be affected as well if proper medical care is not given.

Wonders of the Century: Lil Kim's Look After Surgery

Lil now and then
Lil’ woman, big controversy! Twitter fingers were flying when Lil’ Kim posted an April 24 photo collage on Instagram. The “Magic Stick” emcee, 41, looked unrecognizable with her very pale skin, slim nose and long blonde hair.

“Dark skinned Lil Kim was perfection… I don’t know who this woman is anymore,” a dismayed fan tweeted.
Dr. Jennifer Levine, a board-certified plastic surgeon, can spot the differences too. “It’s clear that there has been some skin bleaching. She's probably used chemicals, which contain very high doses of acids, on her face, combined with high-acid creams to lighten her skin,” she tells Us Weekly.

This is what others say about the Lil' woman.
The many looks of Lil Kim then and now have become a daunting task to keep track of; over the past two decades, the rapper and emcee has been linked to literally dozens of rumors about plastic surgery, skin-lightening creams, and other appearance adjustments.

Beyonce really breeding her daughter with lot of fashion (like-her fashion). Well, it is every duty of good mother to bring up and fashionized daughter so her days as kid will be memorable. But wouldn't imagine it that it is bad fashion and would want Bey Blue to copy.

It’s good to Bey Blue! Beyoncé’s giving her mini-me, Blue Ivy Carter, a crash course in Slaying 101. But with swagger like dad Jay Z and her mom’s knack for fashion, we think that the tot’s already in formation. Scroll down for the duo’s cutest matching moments!

Sports: An Impressive Night For Victor Moses?

Could Victor Moses Win His Way back to First team Regular In Chelsea Under Antonio Conte?

Victor Moses: Moses’s stock is low after a mixed loan spell at West Ham United, where there were flashes of brilliance—remember that stunning strike against Manchester City?—alongside swathes of inconsistency and mediocrity.

Many expected he’d be on his way out of Stamford Bridge, but he’s impressed for Antonio Conte in preseason and came on as a sub in their opener against the Hammers. His directness and speed may appeal to the Italian coach; could he be set for an unlikely reprieve in West London?
To him after an impressive win against yesterday it is a great deal. Here is his tweet

In his previous tweet he also congratulate his countryman and team mate Mikel Obi who is performing too well and is currently in Brazil in the Rio Olympics. The performance of Mikel Obi in Rio games has proven his worth overtime. And is anticipated to perform better.

SCRIPTURE:
Reuben, thou art my firstborn, my might, and the beginning of my strength, the excellency of dignity, and the excellency of power: Unstable as water, thou shalt not excel; because thou wentest up to thy father’s bed; then defiledst thou it: he went up to my couch. – Genesis 49:3-4

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY:

A man without character cannot be outstanding in life.

In Genesis 35:22, the Scripture tells the story of Reuben, the first son of Jacob who defiled his father’s bed by having an immoral relationship with his father’s concubine. This action of Reuben brought him under an irrecoverable curse by his father.

Consequently, though Reuben was the firstborn son, he lost his birthright as a result of character bankruptcy.

A life without positive character is a life that is cursed. One of the greatest challenges that can happen to anybody is to exist without character. To exist without character is to exist naturally under the curse.

When character is lost, dignity is lost. This implies that a man without character cannot be outstanding in life. He loses his dignity on earth and loses respect in eternity.

There are people today with great potentials without character and so, they end in frustration.

Beloved, your character is the greatest determinant of your destiny. Who you are determines what you can become. To matter, you need manners. So, watch your character so as to attain your highest height in life.

Remember this: A man without character cannot be outstanding in life.

ASSIGNMENTS:

1. Make up your mind to live a life of character from today

2. Desist from any act of sin or shady behaviour.

PRAYER: O LORD, I ask that You grant me the grace to live right and do the right thing at the right time in Jesus' Name.

Memorise: For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace. – Isaiah 9:6

Read: Isaiah 9:2-7 (KJV)

2 The people that walked in darkness have seen a great light: they that dwell in the land of the shadow of death, upon them hath the light shined.

3 Thou hast multiplied the nation, and not increased the joy: they joy before thee according to the joy in harvest, and as men rejoice when they divide the spoil.

4 For thou hast broken the yoke of his burden, and the staff of his shoulder, the rod of his oppressor, as in the day of Midian.

5 For every battle of the warrior is with confused noise, and garments rolled in blood; but this shall be with burning and fuel of fire.

6 For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.

7 Of the increase of his government and peace there shall be no end, upon the throne of David, and upon his kingdom, to order it, and to establish it with judgment and with justice from henceforth even for ever. The zeal of the LORD of hosts will perform this.

Bible in One Year: Isaiah 28:1-30:17, Psalms 35

MESSAGE:

In recent times, the entire world has been troubled by one thing or the other. Governments of nations all over the world have explored all avenues and different theories to solve their problems, yet the crises increase. So many budgets are being voted by members of different groups all in the name of providing peace, and the more the investment of time, meetings, mediations and reconciliations, the less the solutions. Until we come back to where we have missed it, we will just keep reinventing the wheel. Also, individuals go through different forms of troubles and worries with no solution. There is nothing like an atmosphere of peace either in a nation or in the life of an individual. It is the greatest thing the world is searching for today and it is the best thing that can happen to a person.

Peace is saying no to violence and creating room for harmony and love. Those who do not have peace cannot experience wellness of life. When there is no peace in a place, it exposes everyone to hostility and aggression, but where there is peace; there is rest of mind and tranquillity. I decree that you will find peace today in Jesus’ name. Finding peace is finding Jesus Christ. He came to restore the broken relationship between man and God. He came to reconcile us back to the Father. Jesus is the one who broke down every wall of partition between us and God.

“For he is our peace, who hath made both one, and hath broken down the middle wall of partition between us;” - Ephesians 2:14

No matter what you are going through in your life, there is a solution in Christ Jesus. In what area are you experiencing problem? Come to the Prince of Peace and He will give you rest. Are you having troubles and fierce storms in your marriage? Come to Jesus and He will step into the centre of your home and give you peace.

“Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.” - John 14:27

There will be trying times in the life of every child of God but you can be rest assured that in your troubled times, you are not alone. God will never allow the trouble to overwhelm you. He will make you experience calmness in the situation. It is important you know that peace is not necessarily the absence of war, it is the presence of rest and calmness in the time of war. Jesus will always bring light into every darkness. He will always speak peace into every storm. He presides over every unpleasant situation of life so that you can experience His peace.

Prayer Point: Father let your peace overrule all my worries in Jesus’ name.

Key Verse:These things I command you, that ye love one another. - John 15:17

In Luke 6:47-48, Jesus said: “Whosoever cometh to me, and heareth my sayings, and doeth them, I will show you to whom he is like: He is like a man which built an house, and digged deep, and laid the foundation on a rock: and when the flood arose, the stream beat vehemently upon that house, and could not shake it: for it was founded upon a rock.”

That’s probably a familiar scripture to you. But today I want you to do something new with it. I want you to put it together with what Jesus said in John 15:17: “These things I command you, that ye love one another.”

Love. That one word sums up all Jesus said for us to do. If you’ll build your life on it, even the most violent storms of this world will be unable to shake you. It will make you solid in every area of your life.

If you’ll build your family on love, you can win back those the devil has stolen from you. You can win them to Jesus with the love of God.

If you’ll build your business on love, you’ll prosper beyond your wildest dreams. I had a friend who did that. He went into a television and radio business in his church. He wanted to buy a station from a Jewish man and he offered such a good price for it that the owner was stunned.

“Why would you offer me such a wonderful price?” asked the Jewish owner.

“Because the Word of God says that if I will bless you, God will bless me. So I’m going to see to it that you get the better part of this deal,” answered my friend.

Before it was all over, that Jewish station owner had made Jesus Lord of his life. He and my friend ended up prospering and preaching the gospel of Jesus Christ together on the radio.

When love rules, prosperity can flow!

Commit to living the life of love today. Commit to building your house upon the rock. Then when the storms of life begin to blow—at home, at work or in any situation—you can enjoy the solid security of knowing that love never fails.

Text: Nahum 3:7-19

Key Verse: "There shall the fire devour thee; the sword shall cut thee off, it shall eat thee up like the cankerworm: make thyself many as the cankerworm, make thyself many as the locusts" (Nahum 3:15).

Although the name Nahum means "full of comfort", the predictions of the prophet who bore this name had no consolation for the people of Nineveh where God sent him. This capital of the Assyrian Empire did not deserve a message of comfort by the reckoning of the Almighty Himself.

It was the seat of the terror of the world as well as the shrine of rebellion against God. Nineveh followed the tradition of Babel, having been founded by Nimrod (Genesis 10:8-11). The Assyrians pursued a savage culture that went beyond description. They brutalised Israel and sought to exterminate her and thus abort God's plan to bring the Saviour into the world through the tribe of Judah in Israel. God was stirred to move and stop Assyria from co-existing with the nations of the world and corrupt them. Nahum was God's messenger to Assyria.

God is patient and slow to anger in order to fulfil His eternal plan. But it is fatal to abuse His long-suffering. It is also futile for man to use the interlude to amass arsenal for war against the Almighty. Those who resist Him and refuse to settle with Him on His own terms would suffer the fate of the Assyrians and others like them.

Thought for the day: No matter the machinations of man, God will always prevail.
