The Love Story singer, Taylor Swift heads to the gym in New York (Photos)

Romance and dating

Taylor Swift and Tom Hiddleston appeared to be completely inseparable after going public with their romance back in June.

But the lovebirds haven’t been seen together for almost two weeks now.

And pictures taken on Wednesday show that they’re not about to be reunited any time soon.

WOW!!! Katy Perry shows the color of her undies

Celebrity News
There’s definitely a strong theme developing here.

Katy Perry, 31, treated fans to a cheeky knicker flash on Wednesday while cycling around Ile de Re in France.

The singer lifts her floral dress up to reveal her colourful undies and her toned legs as she sits on a bike.

Surrounded by picturesque green fields, the smiling star looks like she’s totally in her element.

"I know it's a little cheeky, butt... Cycling in The ile de re, France,” she wrote alongside the picture.

The singer and her boyfriend Orlando Bloom recently arrived back from a long - and very saucy - holiday in Europe.

Katy’s latest raunchy snap will hardly come as a shock to her followers as most of them will have now seen Orlando’s manhood in all its glory.

Severe hunger, poverty killing Nigerians - APC Senator, Shehu Sani

President Buhari Administration

“We know that Nigerians are facing hunger, no money for school fees and no jobs,” the senator said while addressing the residents of the area during the event tagged “Street Parliament.

The senator representing Kaduna Central Senatorial District, Shehu Sani, has said Nigerians are groaning under serious hunger and poverty and therefore unable to meet their basic needs.

He stated this on Sunday during the launch of his interactive forum in Nasarawa, a suburb of Kaduna metropolis.

“We know that Nigerians are facing hunger, no money for school fees and no jobs,” the senator said while addressing the residents of the area during the event tagged “Street Parliament.”

A chieftain of the APC in Kano, Hussaini Mairiga, had recently said President Muhammadu Buhari who assumed power last year had failed because Nigerians were undergoing unprecedented hardship.

Mr. Sani, a member of the ruling All Progressives Congress, however blamed the hardship Nigerians are currently facing on the 16 years of Peoples Democratic Party’s rule.

The lawmaker, who received complaints from residents about the terrible condition of the road leading to the area, poverty, joblessness and lack of portable drinking water, regretted the neglect of the community by government, noting that “it is as if this community is not in Kaduna.”

He however assured the residents that the APC-controlled state government would redress the ugly situation.

“But it is not our (APC) fault. For the past 16 years, the PDP government did not do anything to you, but this present government will do something for your community,” he said.

President Buhari administration has failed me - Blogger

Nigerian News
A pro-government blogger, Abubakar Usman who was  detained by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission over a story he posted on his website, on Wednesday slammed the Buhari administration for allegedly enabling acts that contradicted the spirit of his campaign.

Mr. Usman, an ardent supporter of the ruling All Progressives Congress, vowed to pursue causes that would help engender a Nigeria in which citizens were not punished for exercising their freedom of expression.

“This is a government that I fought for. But occurrences like these are not the experiences that myself and millions of Nigerians have fought for,” Mr. Usman said. “Moving forward, I will be pursuing all legal and constitutionally established avenues to ensure that this does not repeat itself.”

Mr. Usman’s remarks came hours after he was released from detention, where he spent nearly two days.

Mr. Usman was taken from his home by operatives of the EFCC on Monday morning and his arrest and confinement sparked widespread outrage, with people of divergent political affiliations rising in unison to condemn the development.

Sources within his family said he was arrested over a story he ran on his blog on August 2, which EFCC deemed critical of its chairman, Ibrahim Magu.

A statement later issued same day by the agency said Mr. Usman was wanted for cyberstalking, an offence that allegedly breached provisions of Cyber Crime Act.

Wilson Uwujaren, EFCC spokesman, did not list the specific sections that were contravened. He, however, noted that Mr. Usman had been given administrative bail subject to fulfilment of its conditions.

On Tuesday afternoon, his attorney raised the alarm over the ‘draconian’ bail conditions set by the EFCC —two directors in the federal civil service with landed properties in Abuja— pleading with the agency to “soften” them.

The agency obliged the request and Mr. Usman was released shortly afterwards without presenting any bail bond, his lawyer told PREMIUM TIMES.

News of Mr. Usman’s release spread quickly, and he thanked all his followers and others who lent their voices to his ordeal in a statement he posted on his blog shortly before 5:00 a.m. Wednesday.

Mr. Usman urged Nigerians to see his unpleasant experience as a stepping stone “towards the attainment of a more sustainable democracy.”

The Cyber Crime Act was signed into law by President Goodluck Jonathan in 2015 and many Nigerians had been accused of trespass under it. Two bloggers in Abeokuta and Lagos were arrested last year in separate cases.

Rio Olympic 2016: Serena Williams Sent Home Following Devastating Loss To Ukraine

Rio Olympic 2016
Serena Williams, the number one ranked tennis player in the world, lost in the third round to Ukraine’s Elina Svitolina 6-4 and 6-3 in Day Four of the Rio 2016 Olympic Games.

Williams fell behind her opponent from the start of the match. A turning point was when she missed an overhead shot into the net with a score of 2-1.

Williams, who won gold metals in singles and doubles in the 2012 London Olympic Games, will leave Rio with no medals. She and her older sister Venus, who sat in the stands Tuesday, were knocked out in the first round of doubles — their first defeat in the Olympics - squashing their hopes of winning a fourth successive title.

The 20th-ranked Svitolina, meanwhile, was making her first ever appearance at the Olympic games. Williams won gold in both events in London four years ago and won her 22nd grand slam single title at Wimbledon last month.

Williams also follows the number one men’s player, Novak Djokovic, out of the competition. The current French Open and Australian Open champion was in tears after he was beaten by Juan Martin del Potro 7-6, 7-4 on Sunday and suffered more disappointment when he and partner Nenad Zimonjic lost in the second round against Brazilian duo Marcelo Melo and Bruno Soares.

Trump is the emperor with no clothes - Reagan Republican

US Politics
I had the honor of serving as Ronald Reagan's White House political director from 1987 to 1989, so I can claim some insight on U.S. politics. My central conclusion on the 2016 race: It might not be entirely clear that Hillary Clinton deserves to win the presidency, but it is thunderingly clear that Donald Trump deserves to lose.

From this premise, I will do something that I have not done in 40 years of voting: I will vote for the Democratic nominee for president. The depressing truth of the Republican nominee is that Donald Trump talks a great game but he is the emperor who wears no clothes.

Trump falls short in terms of the character and behavior needed to perform as president. This defect is crippling and ensures he would fail in office. Trump is a bigot, a bully, and devoid of grace or magnanimity. His thin-skinned belligerence toward every challenge, rebuke, or criticism would promise the nation a series of a high-voltage quarrels. His casual dishonesty, his policy laziness, and his lack of self-awareness would mean four years of a careening pin-ball journey that would ricochet from missteps to crisis to misunderstandings to clarifications to retractions.

Breaking: Woman fatally shot during Florida police academy drill

World News
A woman was accidentally shot and killed during a community police academy exercise in Punta Gorda, Florida.

Mary Knowlton was shot by a police officer during a "shoot/don't shoot" role-play scenario at the Punta Gorda Citizen Police Academy, Police Chief Tom Lewis said at a news conference.

Knowlton was a participant in a two-hour training course designed by the city when the accident occurred. The course Tuesday was attended by 35 civilians.

Lewis said the gun used in the active shooter scenario role play mistakenly had a live round in it. Knowlton was transported to a local hospital after the shooting and was pronounced dead.

"I am devastated for everyone involved in this unimaginable event," Lewis said.

"If you pray, please pray for Mary's family, and for the officers who were involved. Everyone involved in this accident is in a state of overwhelming shock and grief."

He said the Florida Department of Law Enforcement had been contacted to initiate an investigation into the incident.

In the United States, 33,636 people died from firearm-related incidents in 2013, the most recent data available from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

Taylor Swift and Tom Hiddleston have had to spend some time apart after an intense whirlwind relationship.

The Blank Space hitmaker has been working up a sweat in New York and hitting the gym, while Tom has been shooting scenes for the new Avengers movie.

A source close to the couple insisted that there was no trouble between the stars, who are still very much together.

“They are 100 per cent still together," the insider told The Sun.

"They’re focusing on work at the moment but will be back in each other’s company soon.”

Earlier today, Tom sent ripples across social media when he joined Instagram.

Tom Hiddleston confirmed that the God of Mischief, Loki, is going to be back on the big screen for the first time in four years.

Thor's annoying nemesis, and adopted brother, was unveiled as Tom made his first ever post on Instagram, but strangely didn't follow Taylor Swift.
Tom will appear in Thor: Ragnarok next October and joins a host of actors making appearances in the Marvel movie, including Cate Blanchett, Mark Ruffalo and Idris Elba.

His Instagram post will no doubt get the fan boys excited, but followers of Taylor have been left baffled as to why he has chosen to not follow his girlfriend on the social networking sight.

At the time of writing, Hiddleston had amassed just over 400,000 followers, but he was following zero accounts.
One fan commented: "Follow Taylor, nobody knew you before you dated." Another demanded: "Please post pictures of you and Taylor."

There's no reason as yet as to why he wouldn't follow Taylor, who was once the most popular account holder on Instagram.

The couple have been having to cope with not being at each other's side as he's busy filming the blockbuster down in Australia, and she's living life in the USA.

Breaking: Nigerians attacks President Buhari's Ministers

Buhari's ministers
Nigerians on Tuesday tackled members of President Muhammadu Buhari’s cabinet about poverty and rot in the country at a dramatic town hall meeting in Abuja.

The Sultan of Sokoto and Chairman of the occasion, Alhaji Sa’ad Abubakar, set the tone for the interactions between Buhari’s nine ministers and members of the public when he said in his opening remarks that government policies should be reviewed if they were not working.

He said, “If policies don’t work, there is nothing wrong in reviewing them. The government must be open to suggestions.

“If the people say they are hungry, the government should listen to them.”

The Sultan said there were 11 ministers in the hall even though they were nine.

He was jokingly referring to the multiple portfolios occupied by the Minister of Power, Works and Housing, Mr. Babatunde Fashola (SAN).

In his speech, the Minister of Agriculture, Chief Audu Ogbeh, said, “There is a cry in the air that Nigerians are hungry and we hear them loud and clear. There are also unbelievable stories about people taking their children as human collateral for food with no intentions to pick them up.

“This situation in Nigeria today was going to happen; whether it is this administration or another. We headed this way a long time ago.

‘‘In 1986, we were forced to devalue and deregulate. We were forced to open our doors to importation. We began devaluing the naira. We have done it steadily for 30 years. We are now N400 to one dollar and we are told to continue devaluing; that devaluation will bring wonders. I don’t believe it.

“I hope we don’t hit N1,000 to $1 someday because the demand for dollars is $2.5bn a week and I have this from high authorities within the system.

“We simply don’t have it. We don’t print dollars, but the people are angry that we are not making dollars available. We became importers of rice; $5m a day; wheat, $6m a day; tomato paste, $400m a year; and $20bn a year on food.’’

One of the participants, the Vice-Chancellor of the Bingham University, Nasarawa State, Prof. Leonard Kursim-Fwa, expressed worry about the state of education, infrastructure deficiency and poor electricity, among others.

Just in: Two women bathe each other with hot water over lover

Nigerian News
Two housewives, identified only as Muyibat and Biliki, have suffered severe burns after a fight over a man.

PUNCH Metro learnt that the two women emptied a kettle of hot water on each other during the brawl which occurred at their residence in the Yaba area of Lagos State.

Biliki, who was living with her husband in the Surulere area of the state, relocated to her parents’ house in Abule Oja, Yaba, in 2015, after separating from the husband.

Muyibat lives with her husband and three children in the house.

Our correspondent was told that 32-year-old Biliki accused Muyibat, 29, of marrying her former boyfriend, which caused bad blood between them.

Matters, however, came to a head after a disagreement on Saturday when the duo poured hot water on each other.

They were both admitted to a general hospital in the state.

Our correspondent gathered that the case was reported at the Sabo Police Division and one of the parties petitioned the Lagos State Office of the Public Defender, which mediated in the matter.

Muyibat told PUNCH Metro that their problem started after Biliki accused her of marrying her (Biliki’s) boyfriend.

She said, “Biliki told neighbours that she once dated my husband and that she aborted for him during their relationship.

“She calls me Iyawo Sara (free wife).  I have never known peace in that house. She fights me over every minor issue.

“On Saturday, I went to the market with my husband and when we got home, my child started crying.

“Biliki’s younger brother, Ahmed, came out and shouted at him and I cautioned him.

“His sister then picked up a quarrel with me and started raining curses on me. I did not talk because I was observing a fast. While she was abusing me, I sneezed and said, ‘Ausubillahi minashaitani rojeem’ (God, deliver me from the devil).”

Muyibat said Biliki, who is also a Muslim, thought she was referring to her and queried her for calling her a devil.

She alleged that Biliki attacked her in the process.

“I removed the water I was boiling for my vegetables and put it on the table. She (Biliki) held my head from behind and poured the hot water on me.

“Her younger brother slammed a plastic paint on my head, while she drew my hair. Both of them assaulted me,” Muyibat added.

The Kwara State indigene said she was rushed to a private hospital where she was rejected, adding that she later went to the Sabo Police Station to report the case.

Muyibat, who claimed to have passed out on the way to the general hospital, said Biliki had earlier in May threatened to pour acid on her.

However, Biliki, who suffered burns on her breasts, chest and hand, denied the allegations, saying her neighbour was the first to attack her.

She denied ever dating Muyibat’s husband, saying Muyibat was fond of making trouble with her and efforts to reconcile them had always been rebuffed by her.

She said, “I went back to my parents’ house when I had issues with my husband. Because of that, many of the tenants started ridiculing me.

“I was ill that Saturday and was sleeping beside my baby. Her child had come to play with my baby when she called him back. When the child didn’t heed her call, she hit him and the child started crying.

“Another child passing through the passageway was also crying that partcular time. My younger brother asked the other boy to stop crying and Muyibat abused my brother.

“My brother reported her to me and I told him not to reply her. She then started insulting me. We fought and our neighbours came to separate us.

“I was backing her when somebody suddenly shouted, ‘hot water!’ As I turned back with my hands raised, she emptied a kettle of hot water on me. Because my hand was raised when she attacked me, a little of the water splashed on her.”

Biliki said Muyibat also bit her brother while the latter came to separate them, adding that her two phones were smashed by Muyibat.

The Director of the Lagos State Office of the Public Defender, Mrs. Olubukola Salami, described the incident as horrific.

She said, “This horrific incident was totally avoidable as either of the parties could have just walked away and lodge a formal complaint at the nearest police station. But they decided to take the law into their hands and the result was unfortunate.

“Domestic violence has repercussions and it’s totally unacceptable anywhere. The Lagos State Government will deal harshly with those who disturb public peace.”

The Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Dolapo Badmos, confirmed the incident.

She added that the victims were both given medical papers for treatment, but they had yet to report back to the station.

Topic: Accessing The Help Of God

SCRIPTURE: I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills, from whence cometh my help. My help cometh from the Lord, which made heaven and earth. – Psalms 121:1-2

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: The Help of God is reliable, dependable and durable.

Our God is a God who has the capacity to help or hinder, assist or resist anyone.

When you are a candidate for God’s Help, you can never be helpless because His Help is superior to the help of man. This implies that the Help of God is reliable, dependable and durable. When you have the Help of God, you can literally go to sleep because the sustainability of that Help is guaranteed.

What then are the products of God’s Help?

1. It is the antidote to the fears of life:
Whatever you fear can be tackled by God’s Help. The Help of God is the reason your fears will not consume you.

2. It is key to deliverance from danger and battle:
It is the shield of the Help of God that makes you tread upon your enemies (Deuteronomy 33:29)

3. It is the doorway to supply and sustenance:
The Help of God arrests shortage and scarcity. If you are a beneficiary of the Help of God, especially when you are consistent with your covenant practices, you are not permitted to experience dryness, shortage or scarcity in life.

Remember this: The Help of God is reliable, dependable and durable.

1. Make demands on the Help of God at all times.
2. Be consistent in your covenant practices so as to be connected to the Help of God always.

PRAYER: O LORD, I ask for Your help at all times. Give me the strength, LORD, to overcome the battles of this life in Jesus’ Name.

A Living Example of Love - Kenneth Copeland

Topic: A Living Example of Love

Key Verse: And hope maketh not ashamed; because the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost which is given unto us. - Romans 5:5

Don’t ever worry about not having enough love inside you. The Word says God’s love is shed abroad in your heart by the Holy Ghost. God’s love is in you. What you need to do is make a decision and let it flow.

Pray this prayer today.

In Jesus’ Name, I make a fresh and strong commitment today to live the life of love, to let the tenderness of God flow through me and heal the wounded hearts of those I meet.

Father, teach me to love even when things go wrong. To be patient and kind when the children are underfoot. To overlook the spiteful words of an angry spouse. To rejoice when someone at the office gets the raise that I thought I needed. Teach me to talk in love, to lay gossip quietly aside and to take up words of grace instead.

Lord, Your Word says that Your love is already inside me...that it has been shed abroad in my heart. So today, I resolve to remove every obstacle that would keep that love from flowing freely into the lives of others. I put resentments behind me, and I forgive all those who’ve done me wrong.

In the days ahead, cause me to increase and excel and overflow with Your love. Cause me to be what this world needs most of all...a living example of love. Amen.

Bible Text: Job 9:1-11

Key Verse: "Which commandeth the sun, and it riseth not; and sealeth up the stars. Which doeth great things past finding out; yea, and wonders without number" (Job 9:7, 10).

Great is God's faithfulness and In will fear no evil about the future. There is no room for then word disappointment in the happy life of entire trust in Jesus and satisfaction with His glorious will" -Frances Ridley Havergal. God has power and whatever He has is without limit. Therefore God is Omnipotent, Infinite, and Almighty.

Our text reveals the unquantifiable power of He over nature. He removes mountains, shakes the earth and its pillars through earthquakes. The sun and the stars function in accordance with His dictate. He single-handedly spreads out the heavens and subdues the waves of the sea. He also performs marvels beyond human comprehension.

All these He does without prompting from any quarter. Wisdom demands that no man should do anything contrary to this great God of heaven and earth because nobody can be against Him and prosper. Therefore, there is no reason in the world why a true believer in Christ should be timid of making it in life or afraid God can't keep them. God keeps the stars in their courses and the planets in their orbits. The galaxy - a massive ensemble of hundreds of millions of stars - is the vast display of His might and He sustains it by His power. Surely, God can and will keep you.

Trust Him when bark doubts assail you. Trust Him when your strength is small. And trust Him when everything seems to have failed. He will not disappoint. When your come to your wit's end, then will the strong arms of the Lord surface. God is worth trusting till the very end.

Thought for the day: God is a circle whose centre is everywhere, and its circumference is nowhere!

Memorise: But thou, O LORD, art a shield for me; my glory, and the lifter up of mine head. – Psalms 3:3

Read: Daniel 3:15-20 (KJV)

15 Now if ye be ready that at what time ye hear the sound of the cornet, flute, harp, sackbut, psaltery, and dulcimer, and all kinds of musick, ye fall down and worship the image which I have made; well: but if ye worship not, ye shall be cast the same hour into the midst of a burning fiery furnace; and who is that God that shall deliver you out of my hands?

16 Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, answered and said to the king, O Nebuchadnezzar, we are not careful to answer thee in this matter.

17 If it be so, our God whom we serve is able to deliver us from the burning fiery furnace, and he will deliver us out of thine hand, O king.

18 But if not, be it known unto thee, O king, that we will not serve thy gods, nor worship the golden image which thou hast set up.

19 Then was Nebuchadnezzar full of fury, and the form of his visage was changed against Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego: therefore he spake, and commanded that they should heat the furnace one seven times more than it was wont to be heated.

20 And he commanded the most mighty men that were in his army to bind Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, and to cast them into the burning fiery furnace.

Bible in One Year: Isaiah 4-7, Psalms 31:19-24

There is nothing as good as having God as your ally. I pity those who make men their shield. It is foolishness to do so because man is limited and cannot even help himself when he becomes overwhelmed with the circumstances of life. There is nothing impossible with God and there is no situation that is beyond Him. This is why I want to abide in Him always, because I know He alone will never fail.

“But thou, O LORD, art a shield for me; my glory, and the lifter up of mine head.” - Psalms 3:3

This was the voice of David when he confronted a situation that was beyond him. His son conspired with others, not only to take away his crown, but also to take his life. Who do you run to when people are not only interested in taking your position but also taking your life? Who do you cry to when that strange woman is not only interested in taking your husband but also taking your life? God is the only one who can lift one supernaturally.

There are people who have grief in their hearts. There are those who have been praying and crying for help. There are those who have been sowing in tears. If you are included in these groups, I want you to be comforted because the Almighty God will lift you higher than your problems in Jesus’ name. Do not lose hope in the ability of God to deliver you from any plot against your life. Just call upon the Lord and you will see Him destroying your enemies with their own hands. It does not matter how many enemies are surrounding you at all sides, there is protection for you in God. God is the one who lifts up the heads of His children. He puts great honour upon them and removes everything that has to do with shame and reproach. He is a deliverer to those who run to Him and He ensures all things work out together for their good. Are you in any situation in which the number of people rising up against you are on the increase simply because God is on your side? I want to assure you that the Almighty God will give you peace and calm in the midst of the storm. God will deliver you out of every hand that is holding you down. The fact that God has been fighting on your behalf in the past should give you an assurance that you are a permanent candidate for supernatural lifting, as long as you are at peace with God. All you need to do is ensure that there is no unrighteousness or ungodliness in you. Do not follow the path of the wicked. Live holy and be obedient in faith. Give yourself to prayers always, so that you can put the devil where he belongs. Those who walk in the truth of the gospel will always enjoy glory and honour from God. Be strong in the promises of God and be fully persuaded that all God has promised you will surely come to fulfilment.

From our Bible reading, we see how the three Hebrews boys moved from being slaves to being condemned and then to being promoted all in one day. After God had shown up for them, the king immediately commanded that any people, nation, and language, that speaks against their God shall be cut in pieces, and their houses shall be made a dunghill: because no other God can deliver like Jehovah. There is no one that God cannot use for His glory. As long as He sees your heart, He will meet you at the level of your desire. Seek God. Those who follow God will always see good things following them (Matthew 6:33).

Key Point: Who you follow determines what follows you.
